About Me
I'm a 28 year old married dietitian and mother to a 3-year -old mini piebald dachshund. I'm obsessed with Disney World (even got married there) and you'll usually find me singing showtunes. Loudly. I may or may not also be dancing. Depends on my mood :)

I can't live without this product...

I put this on EVERY MORNING. Even if it's raining. Even if I'm not leaving the house. I call it my fountain of youth. This will save me from wrinkles, oh yes. This will keep me young forever. Or at least keep my skin young.
I like "Shiseido SPF 55 Sunscreen Lotion" (Others who like it too...kellie76 honoluluhoney whambamtamm )

I wouldn't die, but I would suffer greatly without this product...

Serge Lutens Bois et Musc

I just discovered this last month in Paris. I've been into the niche perfume thing for about a year and a half and I'd heard the stories about the Serge Lutens bell jars -- only available in Paris.b Previously, my only bell jar experience was with Sylvia Plath's which led to my high school obsession with writing villanelles about my ex, but that's a story for another time. Well, it just so happens that I convinced my husand to take me to Paris (don't ask me how). And we happened to be staying across the street from Le Salons du Palais royale Shiseido. And maybe i went in there once or 5 times. I fell for this one. It's a close tie between Bois et Musc, Chergui, and Bois Oriental but this had that special sexy something that my SJP Covet just wasn't quite conveying. With the dollar being as weak as it is, it took a lot of convincing, but I eventually walked out with my very own bell jar.
I like "Serge Lutens Bois et Musc" (Others who like it too...cac )

Without this product, I'd have to start drinking at noon ;-) ...

Eve Lom Facial Cleanser and Rescue Mask

These products changed my life. I happened to read about them in Allure one day and then started doing some research and discovered they were a "cult sensation" and a "celeb fave." I'm a whore for the words "celeb" and "cult." Seriously, if Scientology started advertising as the celeb cult, I'd HAVE to become a member. So I bought the sample size from SpaceNK and lo and behold, this stuff works. No, not just works -- changed my face! The Rescue Mask honestly gives me near perfect skin. If I go a week or more without it, I can see it in my face. I'll use it, and be back to perfect. Getting my skin to look this good just completely changed how I wear makeup.
I like "Eve Lom Facial Cleanser and Rescue Mask" (Others who like it too..butterfly vaprincess84 )

My secret beauty recipe and best makeup tips...

Wear the brightest, most obnoxious blush color possible. Hot pink, red, burgundy, whatevs -- do it! The more unnatural in the pan, the more natural they will be on your face. My faves: MAC Dollymix, NARS Crazed, and Besame Crimson.

How long does it really take me to get ready? What's my beauty routine?

To get supadupa-glam, 30-45 min. on a regular day, i can usually get my "5-minute makeup" routine done in just under 15. close enough, right?

While Meg's mom used to give her at-home perms, my most mortifying makeup moment is...

I had decided I was going to finally be one of those gals that doesn't wash their hair every day. I invested in fancy pants Oscar Blandi dry shampoo - well, the mini version just to start. So I was rushing to work one day -- took the time to spray and re-do my bangs -- and then went to town with the dry shampoo. Flipped my head over and started squirting the stuff and rubbing it in. My hair felt kinda wet as i did this, but I figured it was maybe just some errant water from wetting my bangs. Flipped my head back over to put some more in and then finally looked at what was actually in my hand. It was a small white bottle, with a pointed tip, but no, it was not Mr. Blandi's miracle worker, but actually my Clarins Day Wear sunscreen. I put sunscreen in my hair in place of dry shampoo. Needless to say, I had to jump BACK in the shower and wash my hair ANYWAY. It still felt greasy-ish after 2 washes but I was already late. I decided to call it "leave in conditioner" and just called it quits. Now I keep them on totally opposite ends of my vanity.

My celebrity doppelganger (or so I'm told sometimes) is...

Princess Leia. It was in one of those picture places where they morph your head onto a character's body. They morphed me onto Leia in the gold bikini (and my husband onto Han Solo). The chick at the photo stand couldn't stop saying how much I looked like her afterwards and that she was going to put our pic up as an example. Haven't been back to that area of Disney World yet to check.

  • steph222 says, Hey girl, I found this link to an amazing lip look w/ black gloss - this is what I'm trying to accomplish. Do you think that YSL gloss will work b/c I'm having trouble finding this limited-edition color? http://www.blog.makeupmoxie.com/2008/08/lancomes-piha-black.html Thanks!! :)

  • steph222 says, Hey girl. I'm extremely curious about the YSL black lip gloss, but am strapped for cash. Any chance you could take a pic of yourself with it on & put it under your pics so that I could get an idea of what it looks like? With my Snow White coloring, I'm thinking this might look really cool, but don't want to spend the $$ if it isn't giving the look that I think it will. Hope I'm not asking too much, especially with everything that you have on your plate!!! I REALLY appreciate it! Thanks!

  • steph222 says, Hey girl, I saw a comment that you made about loving bright, vibrant blush colors a few weeks back. I think of you when I apply my Gilda blush by NARS & figured that you might enjoy it, too. I don't know what your coloring is right now since it seems like you might have gone red, but this blush color is awesome & I think that our coloring is about the same when you're brunette. I'm intrigued to check out the ones that you recommended next time I'm at the mall! Take care!

  • champ3377 says, Thanks for the Neem tooth information. It cleans like nothing else and the anti-bacterial properties are amazing. Do you recall how you hear NOTHING about an item and then all of a sudden it's everywhere? I passed a counter in the drugstore with skin lotion containing Neem! From my research, it's used in about a hundred ways. Again, thanks and God Bless, funny one! Gigi

  • champ3377 says, Impeccably pedicured toes? Hardly, but you are a sweetheart! I inherited bunions from my dad and my left foot is becoming crippled with arthritis. Doctors say there's nothing they can do. So I tend to hide my feet more than show them . . . So sorry I missed commenting on your highly enjoyable piece. Ironically, I used this product on the same day this was posted--I wish I would leave my natural auburn hair alone because the color is my best attribute, but I'm always striving for "more shine, more body, more bounce!" Well, I used a different brand and wound up "more black," which is NOT me. So my husband and I ran in K-Mart and he helped me picked a tone to return me to semi-normal without damage. It worked! I'm auburn again. Unfortunately, I'll never be as clever as you, but your reviews are a treat. God Bless, Gigi

  • mjsred says, Hey! Saw your message to champ when I left one for her...my current "obsessive eyebrow" pencil for my shade of red hair "this week" is "Strut" my MAC...have yet to find a pencil that had the undertones I like and doesn't turn ashy or too taupe-y! ALSO,the new LORAC "Take a Brow" eyebrow compact at Sephora comes in an "Auburn" and although I'm not a huge fan of power-eyebrow color in thie South Texas heat, the 2 shades in it are great...comes with a clear-wax too.

  • champ3377 says, I understand--no problem. You were right and I'm laughing! Ah, I used to be addicted to Maybelline's little pencils in "Auburn," as they simply worked. The shade has been discontinued and I'm on a hunt brow product as well. In the meanwhile, you could use an auburn eyeshadow for your brows. I've done that in the past and shadow is soft and easy to apply. When are you leaving? I SO want you to see have some things . . . God Bless, Gigi

  • champ3377 says, So far, so good. I can work easily with these eyeshadows and they're rich, and so I'll purchase another palette shade and keep experimenting. Looks like you need to give me your address (ONLY if you are comfortable). The company's web site is actually down! God Bless, Gigi

  • champ3377 says, Newsflash! The company that made the great inky shadow I like and wanted to get for you has now come out with a mineral palette--one basic shadow and three deep, sultry ones (love them--I chose the palette with a dusky green, black, and, yes, the same blue we discussed!). Blush is included (the gentle pink looks like a nice shade for my fair skin) and a bronzing powder--all for $10.00! It was a gorgeous day and I didn't get around to playing with it, but I probably will review this for Thursday. There are two other palette choices. If the color is finely-milled and blends easily, it's on me . . . what do you say? God Bless, Gigi

  • champ3377 says, Sounds like an amazing job, but I can't fathom how tiring that must be! When school is in full swing and I'm sponsoring about 150 members of the Future Business Leaders of America, correcting papers, and trying to come up with scintillating lectures (yeah, right), I am BEAT! But I'm so glad you're still here! I will tell YOU this only: My hair is past my shoulders. One day I went to brush it aside casually with my hands, and one very, very long strand remained. It didn't grow from my head--IT CAME OUT OF MY CHEEK! I actually wanted to cry (how mature, I know). WHAT? Thus, tweezers everywhere for me. You take this to your death with you, pretty one.

  • champ3377 says, It's so GOOD to hear from you--where have you been? I hope this lives us to your expectations, but I love the inclusion of wax. Sometimes when I sit in car in the broad daylight, hairs I never knew were there appear (yikes!) and I thank God for the tweezers. I actually wrote that I don't leave the house without doing my brows, either, and I feared that no one would understand that so I removed it. It's always great to have YOUR input! God Bless, Gigi

  • champ3377 says, Aha, the truth finally comes out . . . I strongly felt that you studied writing and I was right ("na-na-na-na-na-na"! ) My comments to you were sincere; I'm not politically correct and tell people that, in the case I'm hit by a bus tomorrow and die (God forbid), others won't know what I think of them. You're more witty than the law allows. Let me know what happens with your search for the shadow, but I believe I can still find it at a drugstore (there are a slew near my home). Want a laugh? I'm attending a seminar on the American economy and globalization (not a "major yawn," but ridiculously fascinating). I'm able to do it because my sister Ruthie won PA's "Teacher Excellence Award" two years ago (she was nominated an unprecedented number of times and dubbed herself the "Susan Lucci" of this honor when it finally came to fruition). Dave Hunter (an economist , author, investment banker, and former owner/CEO of Parker Hunter) said, "Americans just don't save. Why IS that?" I laughed to myself and thought, "Because we buy makeup."

  • champ3377 says, Love your writing! I tend to be too verbose, but your phrases like before she "crossed the pond" are too funny! You sold me on this with your description. Now just hand over the money and no one will get hurt . . . I AM kidding you. Really great job on this. God Bless, Gigi

  • champ3377 says, No, my pleasure. If you'd like to try it, I'll stop by and pick up the shadow and send it to you--it's not costly but works beautifully and is much softer than the other two shadows. The only reason I'm pretty good with eyeliner is because I'm also an artist used to fine brushes, but my sister suggests buying Revlon's magnifying mirror. It does help, even if you have young eyes like yours. So glad you liked my piece! If you can't find the shadow, give me your address (only if you're comfortable). If not, I'll send it to Meg.

  • champ3377 says, I'm ALWAYS Xcited to read your comments! I tried Almay's version, but I wish they would have included more shades as well. I couldn't agree with you more when it comes to navy shadow. Recently a magazine featured celebrities sporting this color and using it as liner, and I was mesmerized (I never saw Julia Stiles look prettier or more defined). Philosophy used to offer a "killer" inky hue in one of their "Little Black Books" but I think they're defunct. Need a great navy? Find it cheap at a drugstore (hey, I'm the "DD lady"). There's a three-color palette from Pantina in "Lilac Berry." I don't care for the lavender shades as they can be a tad difficult and stubborn to apply, but the indigo is unbeatable.

  • kellie76 says, It is such a pleasure to meet you as well. I loved doing theater. I did musicals and straight shows as well. A fun fact is that I actually fell in love with make-up while doing theater. My mom didn't wear much make-up so I learned about it in the theater. I can't wait to read your about your exotic finds. I have a request. I love all things Japanese and have a friend who sends me whatever I ask from there. So I would love to see something great reviewed from Japan if it such a thing ever finds it's way to your mail box. By the way I love all thing Disney as well. Favorite movies? Favorite characters?
