| My Beauty Secret: |
Wash face only twice daily, moisturize, brush teeth twice daily to keep them white, use GoSMILE or Supersmile if you need it (I do!), never buy anything that doesn't make you feel fabulous, eat well, laugh lots, and drink up! |
| My Routine: |
I can do my entire daily routine in less than 10 minutes. Mineral foundation, bronzer in the summer, blush, BE Mineral Veil to set, draw on brows, add lipstick and baby, I'm gone! Glam? We're talking at least 20. Primer, do daily routine, plus black liner (tight-lined), shadow(s), colored liner if I feel like it, curl lashes, mascara, comb out clumps. Step back, assess, smile at result, then grab the purse and have fun! |
| My Horror Story: |
The days where I'm not wearing ANY! haha :) I have thin, sparse, blonde eyebrows. (Weird, since I'm such a dark brunette.) One day I got the brilliant idea to have them dyed to make the most of what I have. I decided to toss in a brow wax while I was at it. So I went and got it done and the woman handed me a hand mirror to see the end result. I handed it back to her, gave her a vague smile and left. I got in the car with my mom (I wasn't driving at this point) and looked at her like "well?" She took one look at me and said, "they're awful!" I knew they were, but I needed confirmation that they were as horrible as I thought. I had a pencil thin, comma-shaped stripe of brown where my eyebrows should have been. I looked like I had sneezed really hard when I was putting on eyeliner and missed my eye. So, so horrible. I've never had another wax and I haven't set foot in that place again. |
| My Celebrity Look-a-like: |
I've never been told I look like anyone famous. Maybe Howard Stern on a really, really, really bad day! |
Mineral makeup
Currently I'm using Jane Iredale pressed foundation in Bisque. I love it. A few swipes and it covers everything but the darkest spots. It stays all day, never changes colors and stays pretty matte on my oily skin. It isn't cheap, but I use so little of it that it's very cost effective. Previous to JI, I used these brands: I used Bare Minerals for years. Like many people who have used it, it occasionally made my skin itch. That, combined with the fact that the shimmery, "glow" bismuth in it looked terrible when I got oily, made me give it up.
Urban Decay
I'm pretty much in lust with Urban Decay. Their design aesthetic is cool, their colors are fantastic and their products deliver. Here's a quick rundown of what I love: UDPP - The first eyeshadow primer I ever tried. It actually keeps my shadows on my eyes - not an easy task on the oil slicks Exxon and Valdez. I did notice a slight mattifying effect on my shadows. 24/7 Liners - What can I say about these that hasn't already been said? They come in great colors, they're soft, go on without tugging and stick. I have Covet, 1999, Deviant, Bourbon, Binge, Dime and Zero.
These are a few of my favorite things...
Since I only get three favorite products, I decided to cheat a little and make my third a catch-all for some of my other favorite products I didn't have room for. Clarisonic: I can't live without it. Philosophy Purity cleanser: It's a good basic cleanser that removes makeup easily. Julie Hewett Camelia Lip Balm in Rose: One of my HG lipbalms. It's oil based so it sinks in really well. It has the most delicious orange scent. It gives the barest hint of pink tint and a really nice sheen. But when I need to break out the big guns I put on...
