About Me
I have beauty products skydiving from my bathroom shelves. This site is just what I need to feed the addiction even more. I spend way too much time dinking around on here...house isn't getting cleaned, laundry not getting done, errands not being run...heavy sigh.

I can't live without this product... | I love this cleanser. I've had oily skin my whole life and this stuff has been the best I've found so far. This is an organic line, so it's kind of expensive & it doesn't foam & it doesn't smell great- it's got almond meal in it- but it's awesome!!! They should review this for Green Chi Tuesdays...Of course I'm tempted to try the Suki cleanser because I've read so many great reviews about it.
I like "Dr. Hauschka cleansing cream" (Others who like it too...milamaas beautigal ) Leave a comment or review | No reviews or comments |
I wouldn't die, but I would suffer greatly without this product... Dr. Hauschka normalizing oil | For all you oily skinned girls out there- you really should try this product. I've spent so much time & money on products trying to strip my skin of oil. I stumbled across this line & their philosophy is "treat like with like"- so if you have oily skin, put oil on it. I thought this idea was so @!#% up that it just might work. You press it into your skin, it absorbs easy, you get a great glow, & I have less(almost no) oil than with products that claim to reduce oil. I think when you put oil on your skin, it tells your brain you have enough and it stops trying to make it.The first time I bought their products I drove 45 minutes to get them. Then I was so excited to discover Sephora sold the line. So over the holidays I went to Sephora & they stopped selling them- maybe because a lot of people aren't familiar with the line. But you can order them directly from their website.

Without this product, I'd have to start drinking at noon ;-) ... La Mer The Concentrate Eye cream | Again, I've spent so much money on eye creams. This is hands down my favorite. I asked FOM (fiancee of mine) for the La Mer eye balm a few years ago for Christmas. It lasted me almost 8 months. Of course I wanted to try every other eye cream that my Bliss catalog sold, but noticed the lines & wrinkles around my eyes looking crappy...went back to La Mer...now not so crappy.

My secret beauty recipe and best makeup tips... My best advice would be to not do what I do, which includes...smoking, drinking, laying in the sun, getting 2 hrs. of sleep at night (insomniac), and stressing over shit I have no control over. I would however encourage exercise (which I don't do ), exfoliate, moisturize, wear spf, and invest in a really great skin care regime. Even if you think you don't have the money, you might surprise yourself. If you don't buy 5 moisturizers, 3 eye creams, 10 different foundations etc..you can afford 1 fabulous cleanser, toner, moisturizer, mask. I of course don't take my own advice. In the past year I have been trying to go more organic with my skin care & I think that helps, especially with problem skin. I agree with the other girls who say if you wouldn't put it in your body, don't put in on your body. How long does it really take me to get ready? What's my beauty routine? On days I don't wash my hair- 30 minutes. Showers take me about 20-25 minutes- this is shampooing, conditioning, exfoliating, shaving, shower puffing...Once out of the shower, all the moisturizing (and serums), hair de-frizzers (thank you Florida for 130% humidity),blow drying, & flatiron..then makeup..total 2hrs. Almost always with cocktail in tow. No red wine though, the wine gets on my upper lip & it pisses me off. Cocktail always needs to be in a sippy cup with a straw so I don't mess up my makeup. While Meg's mom used to give her at-home perms, my most mortifying makeup moment is... Sun-In. Do I need to say more? Ok I will. I think Sun-In does to the hair what bronzers do to the skin. At least I finally got to go to a hair salon..which has created another spark of insanity. My celebrity doppelganger (or so I'm told sometimes) is... Molly Henneberg from Fox News.

mel9 says, Hi Steve'sgirl! Sorry took til now to get back to you - been without my computer all week-hard drive crash - probably heated up too much with the countless hours on this site! First, LOVE Maddie and Ginger-did you ever listen to Drew and Mike on WRIF when you lived here? They were just talking yesterday about how wiener dog owners were p*ssed off when people called them wiener dogs? Obviously not so, huh? I have a Beagle/Jack Russell named Vinnie - his puppy pics on my profile. I live in Sterling Heights - which is where our new Sephora is - they are trying hard to glam it up around here - maybe b/c we're so close to Oakland County, but ya know...it's still basically Detroit - God, you're lucky to be in Tampa! I go to Lakeland every spring to visit grandma/see the Tigers in spring training heaven! Oh, and if you get over the ACV gagging or whatever it was - try oil pulling! Basically it's gargling oil and then spitting it out. I learned about it from our Sunday Sermon girl, Tashagogo - she and it are awesome. It has changed my life in just a week...good suggestion on the La Mer eye cream - just had a friend ask me about a good one - I'll pass it along - thanks-enjoy that Florida weather - it snowed 12 hours today and is FREEZING! Take care ~Mel
kryssanthe says, If you are engaged to a dude, he is a fiance (one "e). Yeah, you may have to make the trek to the warehouse just to make sure you're getting the right shade. I got the SX03 shade and it's perfect. I was worried it would be too dark on my ghostly countenance, but nope, just right. I don't want to even imagine how light the SX01 is. I bought another one in SX02 for my bff and it's the same lightness as 03, just with more pink. As for a full-face foundation, it's better to take the teensiest dab on a concealer brush and just cover imperfections. I've never seen anything so pigmented, hence the pinpoint amount. I've only used the Dr. Hauschka lip balm and I love it, but I've been wanting to try the Rose day cream, have you tried it?
kate2004rock says, Haha - I wont the school geography bee like 2 years in a row...and threw it the third year. Shouldnt have done that - my brother, who is 3 years younger than me, ended up winning 3rd in the state of texas when he was in about the 7th grade.
chichi says, i Stevesgirl! Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement! It always makes me feel great to know that people are reading and enjoying the site (particularly Green Chi Tuesdays!). I know the Dr. Hauschka line, but do not have any experience with them (yet!). You are so sweet to offer to send me a sampler kit!! Please keep your hard earned $ for buying things for yourself! I am checking with our PR lady about contacting the Dr. Hauschka people. Also adding this company to my personnel list of lines to check out. I've got about two months worth of products lined up for GC Tuesday, but will work on getting in a review for Hauschka soon. Oh – I love your wiener dogs! Inger in the basket is adorable! I have a very naughty wiener dog at home. How can they be so cute and so naughty at the same time?
kate2004rock says, maybe it has to do with location. im from the dallas area and the caudalie U.S. headquarters is in dallas too...
kate2004rock says, Yeah, they usually do have samples in my store ...ones that Caudalie sends us to give out. Thats really weird.
kryssanthe says, Okay, I'm a whore for a sale, so I snared the Kevyn Aucoin SSE at Victoria's Secret semi-annual sale several months back for like, $16. Sadly, they sold out like hotcakes. I can't think of anywhere that may have them as testers so you can see them in person...maybe Saks Fifth Avenue? I will admit that I looked up reviews on makeupalley and figured out what shade to order based on other women's similar complexions in their profile pics and their shade choices. Paying full price, though, I totally understand wanting to see them in person. Trust me, you will love, love, love the SSE...
kryssanthe says, Hiya! Just thought I should let you know that I f-ing LOVE weiner dogs. That is all :)
kate2004rock says, That sucks about your less-than-stellar Sephora experience - it sounds like the girls there dont know their sh*t! They DO make 3 shades of BalmShelter tinted moisturizer, 5 shades of the concealer (which rocks) and about 50 different shades of lipgloss. Those girls must have been confusing it with BalmShell lipgloss. Anyhow, make sure to get on Sephora.com and email them to let them know about your experience if they were not helpful (or if they were awesome). They DO have to deal with customer compliments/complaints at each store - so they WILL see it! And while you're at Sephora.com you can CLEARLY see all the Balm Products that DO exist - you arent crazy! Not every sephora carries all the same brands.
BUNNY says, I used to gag all the time when I brushed my tounge, but I started buying the Crest toothbrush with the tounge brush on the back and it doesn't happen so much anymore. Good luck with the ACV. It takes some getting used to but I can get it down now without any mixers or the toothpaste trick. It really does make a differance in skin, bloatedness etc
BUNNY says, Besides OJ, try brushing your teeth first and right afterward swig down a shot of ACV and go brush teeth again. I don't know why but the minty flavor seems to help.
