I wouldn't die, but I would suffer greatly without this product...

Giovanni Triple Treat Tea Tree Shampoo

This is GREAT for my "troublesome scalp" which I've suffered w/FOREVER and finally realized wasnt just dandruff... but psoriasis... I'm treating it w/alternate & natural products instead of Rx's (make that attempting to treat it)
I like "Giovanni Triple Treat Tea Tree Shampoo" (Others who like it too...none yet)

Without this product, I'd have to start drinking at noon ;-) ...

Shiseido Eyelash Curler

My secret beauty recipe and best makeup tips...

My HG (holy grail) product is a cleanser by la roche posay... their purifying cleaser, it's just amazing how well it works (glycolic acid) and how clean, smooth, soft my dry skin feels afterwards. I'm also currently crushing on ANYTHING by weleda (their rose night cream is rich and rewarding and i've been using it every DAY).
Oh & my other secret to looking & feeling great... lie about your age!! (yes i did, and no i'm not)
One more tip/trick... when brushing your teeth, use a lil baking soda... it helps whiten your teeth better than any strip or paste... it tastes like @ss BUT... if you use your tasty toothpaste on a dampened toothbrush & then put a lil baking soda in your palm (or on a tissue or i use the plastic cap from the container) and smoosh your bristles into it, and brush.... you really will be soooo surprised what a difference it makes... a couple of nites a week... you'll be blinding people w/your pearly whites!!!! also... I have to mention... that as a psoriasis suffered (on my scalp) I've learned that THE BEST TREATMENT HANDS DOWN... is organic neem oil (you can find it online) rubbed into the irritated areas (i use a small hairspray bottle to apply directly to the scalp) and left on OVERNIGHT... shampoo w/a tea tree shampoo (i like giovanni triple treat or jingles herbal rejuvanating shampoos) and if you have a RRRREALLY bad flair up.... VICKS VAPOR RUB (no joke, it's amazing how soothing and effective it is)... good luck... (i've also tried every other remedy under the sun... btw a lil sun's good for psoriasis... so any questions, please feel free to message me)!!!!

How long does it really take me to get ready? What's my beauty routine?

In the morning, getting ready for work, I'm a bare bones kinda gal... 1/2 hour from start to finish. moisturizer (weleda rose night cream...yes for day) mascara (maybelline lash discovery black) and cover up (nars balanced makeup in deauville LOVE this stuff) required, anything more is optional (and usually applied once i get to the office). If we're going out (which doesnt happen often i'll admit, we've gotta 7 month old) I'll take an hour... unless i decide to curl my hair... then i shower like two hours earlier, roll up the locks & let it all set... but the downtime for setting purpsoses... i wouldnt count (otherwise i would sound sooooo high maintenance w/a good three hours of prep time)!!! haha

While Meg's mom used to give her at-home perms, my most mortifying makeup moment is...

My over zealousness w/a tweezer in the 90's... I look startled and surprised in every photo from then... and my sparse eyebrows now need to be filled in (i usually use eyeshadow for this but have been known to dye them every so often).

My celebrity doppelganger (or so I'm told sometimes) is...

I often get Angelina Jolie (love when that happens) and now... Miley Cyrus (which I havta admit... isn't as glamorous but it makes me popular w/the neighborhood kids they call me the miley cyrus lady which cracks me up)

  • champ3377 says, I looked at your little one's photos again and can't recall if you posted them before. How gorgeous can one baby be?

  • champ3377 says, Hey, music woman, great to hear from you--pardon me for taking so long to reply! I actually don't have true migraines; my eyes are absorbing more than sixteen times the light than other people's (thus, one of the reasons for the non-stop agony). I have other diseases and corneal dystrophy which contributes to the pain, and I'm going to demand surgery. There are some risks, but at this point my head leaves me unable to think clearly and wanting to kill someone (so not me). What a cute concept about Elvis--you are hysterical! Jimmi Hendrix is even better; I was just telling my husband yesterday how I love how radical he was and admire his talent. Hmm . . . mineral makeup is too costly for a costume, but I've seen dark foundation for Halloween in drugstores (where else do I go?). Unfortunately, my head hurts so badly that my driving is limited now to a one-mile radius. I'm going stir crazy! I love to drive; better yet, I drive and blast music. My husband said I'd blow out the speakers and I laughed--I did! More pictures, please . . . I'm begging here. Thanks and God Bless, Gigi

  • steph222 says, Thanks for much for the info! I just emailed it to my girlfriend. I'll let you know what she tells me. I know of a guy that I used to work w/ that seemed to have the exact problem that you are describing (obvious when the guy has short hair). I'd recommend this to him, as well, but I don't think that guys take help as well as chicks :) Again, thank you so much!! Have a great weekend!

  • steph222 says, Hey girl! Your baby is too cute! I just had to ask you about your "scalp" issues. I think that my friend might have what you're talking about. She has gorgeous hair, but her scalp peels in rather large sheets. Doesn't really look like dandruff due to the size of the clumps, but she doesn't know what it is. Does this sound like what you have? If so, can you recommend any other products for her? I would be eternally grateful! Thanks so much! I'm a newbie too & just love this site, so WELCOME! :)

  • champ3377 says, GENIUS--I knew you'd "come through" and truly appreciate your input (more than you know). I'm pressured with all I have to teach in the fall (Internet and Computer Core Certification, Intro to Business, and business/personal law--an "honors" course). My mind has been blanking out when it comes to music and that's unusual. Let's make a deal. I will find a Trader Joe's only IF you post more pictures of your family. What do you say? I asked my husband if he ever had lyrics completely "stuck" in my mind for days and he said he didn't (he's a musician and band director). For five days last fall, the line from Crowded House's "Don't Dream It's Over" made me nuts--"My possessions are causing me suspicion but there's no proof." Why that line of any? I am "whacked," as my students tell me.

  • champ3377 says, Sorry--I fight this computer more than I use it! "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" would be an amazing song, along with the other suggestions. I realize you're busy, especially with a little one, but I'll take anything you can think of, please. Thanks much and God Bless, Gigi

  • champ3377 says, I showed my husband your pictures on your profile, our (favorite is the the main one) but they all great. In the first one you're sultry and seductive, but the other with your baby is my favorite (you still look great), but I can "see" the love you have in your eyes and it moves me more than you know. What is your little one's name, please? Would you post more photos if you get a chance? I strongly feel that children are "as good as it gets" on earth. Thanks and God Bless, Gigi

  • champ3377 says, I'm going to scream! This computer is bucking me and crashing, and I'm ready to get a hammer and hack it to death (it's only two years old). I concur with your remarks about using eyeshadows (they are more workable), but the wax comes in handy and I am a "tweezer freak." Sometimes when I sit in broad daylight, I am horrified at the hairs which show up and didn't see beforehand. THIS IS EMBARRASING: You sent me an e-mail about lyrics and the computer lost it. Would you please copy and paste and send it again? Your suggestions were beyond insightful. Thanks and God Bless, Gigi

  • champ3377 says, If you possibly get a chance, I'd appreciate your help. I told you that I put inspirational lyrics from rock songs on the board. I have another month to gather great lines and would really like your input if you have the time. "Just say no!" if you don't. Examples of ones I've used (I think you know about the first one): "If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed--it's just a spring clean for the May Queen." I've also done "Oh, I'll never know what makes this man with all the love his that his heart can stand dream of ways to throw it all away" from John Mayer's "Gravity." Then there were lyrics from "Break on Through" from the Doors and Pearl Jam's "A Life Wasted."

  • angieb725 says, I made a decision this weekend. I was teetering around in my 4 inch Marc Jacob's over the holiday's cursing the midwest for it's turf that is so unfriendly to heels, and I realized I need to move to New York, where the flat streets seem to be made for walking in heels!

  • angieb725 says, Omg I'm cracking up reading your message on sweetassgal's profile about the shoes - I'm so pleased to hear that you feel the same way I do... it's not a shoe without a heel! I also don't own any flat shoes (except for the hidden "workout" pair that's unfortunately never used and a couple random flip flops in hiding). In fact, I have a really hard time even walking in flat shoes, I end up doing more of a waddle!

  • champ3377 says, Thank you! I worked in industry before teaching (University of Pittsburgh's Medical School and Price Waterhouse for starters), but when I began to teach, I thought about all of the things I loved and hated in high school. I made a vow never, ever to humiliate a student, no matter what he/she did or said (I was a good kid in school but we were beaten if we missed questions on quizzes!). And I decided to tell kids when they did well; why withhold praise? Somehow I think you'll understand this: Rock music was BANNED from my high school during the day (before IPod's) and I had a really cool English teacher. One day--I have no idea why--he showed us the silent version of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and played Santana along with it. I was moving in my seat to "Black Magic Woman." All I could think was--yes, music--and I'm allowed to enjoy it class! So I often have a soundtrack going when they walk in. Since our school dress code is very strict, guys cannot have hair longer than their collars. I still like long hair. There's a guy in my homeroom who had the BEST tresses and, one morning, he walked it. It was cut--not too short and nicely done, but darn! I missed the hair. So I actually sang "Almost Cut My Hair" (CSNY) to him and the rest of the students. They were howling and said, "Mrs. D., what IS that song and what is with you?" An assignment was given: I gave gifts for anyone who was willing to find out why long hair was such a statement when that tune was written. And they all did it! Boy, I wasn't financially prepared for that one. Your comments are wonderful. HOW OLD IS YOUR SON? Pictures would be appreciated! God Bless and Thanks, Gigi (By the way, tea tree shampoo is an excellent pick; works for me!)

  • champ3377 says, Have a laugh on me: Lyrics and groups ARE part of the curriculum (I'm terrified that the principal is going to call me in--or parents--so I choose wisely, inspirational rock lyrics but rock nonetheless). I give partial quotes on tests and they have to finish them or name the group! My sister is an English teacher and does the same (she had a whim and we saw Isaac Hayes in concert last night--the whole audience sang along with "Shaft"--including "shut yo mouth!" as Isaac directed the Pittsburgh Symphony--it was hysterical!). Hey, using shadow is a GREAT idea--where was my head all along? I'm not aging well. I swear I was sixteen last week, in my students' seats, not mine. So I've been singing "Gravity . . . stay the hell away from me" (John Mayer, as you know). God Bless Funny and Clever Woman, Gigi
