| My Routine: |
on any given weekday, it takes me approximately one hour from shower until i'm out the door. my workday look is natural and minimal, so makeup is kept to tinted moisturizer, blush, lipcolor, mascara, and eyeliner with natural shadows if i'm feeling extra snazzy. doing my hair consists of drying and running a flat iron over the wayward flips...of course, if i'm feeling a little haggard, this could all take considerably longer with coffee and smoke breaks. |
| My Horror Story: |
when i was 13, i got the bright idea that i needed to remove facial hair. all of my life, i'd heard horror stories of my german grandmother being covered in hair from forehead to foot, so i was convinced that i, too, must need a little extra grooming...i went down to the bathroom, dug under the cabinets until i found something suitable...ta-da, a bottle of nair, god knows how old, that was stashed wayyyyy in the back. i put it on my upper lip and awaited the certain beauty that would follow. within 17 seconds, my flesh was on fire..i thought...hey, this must be normal, this means it's working. five minutes later, i washed it off to find a horrible rash..red and swollen, like a big, red, allergic beard...precisely the look i was attempting to ward off! well, it took a good week to clear up...that's when i learned that i had very sensitive skin....and also that 13 year olds don't really need facial hair removal. |
Trilogy Rosehip Oil
This oil is incredible. It's great for dry or sensitive skin, even those with rosacea. It calms, soothes, and balances any irritation. To top it all off, it does a master job at plumping the skin and helps to heal any breakouts, scars, or any other discolorations that may be giving you grief. I can't live without it.
Ole Henriksen Apricot Cleansing Lotion
this is my little miracle. this cleanser keeps my skin calm, clear, and even in color. as a fair girl with sensitive skin, that can be quite a chore to find. foaming and sudsing cleansers tend to strip my skin and cause redness and breakouts, yet most cream cleansers are too heavy and clog my pores..this little beauty is the perfect balance. it leaves me nice and clean with no film, but also leaves behind a soft complexion that is happy to not be overworked. if you have sensitive, dry, or reactive skin, do yourself a favor and try this cleanser out! you won't be disappointed.
Tea Tree Water Toner by Lush
This is the FIRST toner I've been able to successfully use. Ever.It shrinks my pores, doesn't dry me out OR leave a heavy film on my face, and it clarifies and detoxifies skin like a gem. I recommend it for anyone with sensitive combination skin, and definitely for those of us that battle with acne to any degree. A bonus is that it also makes moisturizer last longer. I use less, and it sinks right in rather than sitting on top of my skin. I no longer need to use a primer under my makeup to make it set.
