| About Me: |
I am also a complete and total raging shoe addict. I can't resist a uniquely adorned or brightly colored pair of shoes. I am hitting upwards of 150 pairs of shoe's and my husband may divorce me if I come home with another pair! But I love each of them like my children. I dress rather conservatively...until you get to my shoes. You will typically find me in all black or in jeans and a white button up shirt with a rainbow of brightly colored shoes on my feet. I love to coordinate eye shadow and liner colors to my shoes. I let my eyes and my feet do the talking! SO FUN and makes me HAPPY all day long (insert use of URBAN DECAY here!). My new obsession is facial cremes. As I enter my mid thirties I am greatly concerned about emerging wrinkles, reversing sun damage and getting a more porcelain looking skin tone. My tanning days are over and its me against the clock now! GLAM ON megsmakeup gals!!! |

| My Beauty Secret: |
I cannot stand the oily consistency of most "oil free" make up removers and searched for ages for a mild remover that doesn't burn my eyes or leave an oil slick behind. I finally realized that Mary Kay's Creamy Cleanser 2 (an actual face wash and NOT marketed as a remover) does the job beautifully. My makeup comes off easily, I don't have to tug at the delicate skin around my eyes to get my mascara and liquid liner to come off, it doesn't burn AT ALL and my eyes are nicely moisturized with absolutely NO OIL. I have tried SO many other products and stumbled upon this product by accident. I love it and highly recommend it to anyone who wants sting and oil free make up removal. |
| My Routine: |
To really get glam (out for dinner or a date with my hubby) it takes me about an hour and a half...if I'm not on a time schedule it's more about 2 hours because I stop about every 45 minutes or so for a cocktail break! I have naturally curly hair and find it looks best when I let it air dry so that adds time. Even diffusers leave me frizzy and my curls out of control. For a typical day at work or weekend morning I can usually get in under an hour if I do my full skin care regime, go light on the makeup and upsweep my hair. |
| My Horror Story: |
Mine would have to be the Great Lip Liner Debacle of 1990. I was a sophomore in high school...that was the year Pretty Woman came out and I was OBSESSED with Julia Roberts lips. I have a thin upper lip (which I HATE) and read a makeup tip somewhere that said to make your lips look fuller blot out your natural line with concealer and redraw the line outside of your regular lip line. I happily complied and ended up looking like I missed my lip completely. My mom was SO sweet about it. She just gave me a knowing little chuckle and let me figure out my mistake on my own without embarrassing me or making me feel like the clown I actually looked like! GO MOM...you're the best! |
| My Celebrity Look-a-like: |
I've been told Meg Ryan before the cosmetic surgery days. I have a very "When Harry Met Sally" kind of cuteness to my face. I've never been what you would call pretty or beautiful but I am damn cute with a bubbly personality. |
Too Faced Retractable Kabuki Brush
I'm all about textures...how something feels holding it in my hand, how it soothes as it passes my skin, how it leaves me feeling after the beauty ritual is gone. All of this accounts for my love of my Too Faced retractable Kabuki Brush. To begin with it has a compact, light and ADORABLE pink metal casing with tiny flowers on it that feels cool and sleek in the palm of my hand. Way different feeling than standard plastic or wood brushes. Then you pop it open and discover the "Teddy Bear Hair" brush softness. That's what Too Faced calls the bristles. They are so, so soft you find yourself constantly swirling it around your face and neck and falling into a lovely daydream where you are draped in an airy gauze linen dress, laying in your bungalow sipping wine while scantily clad servant men fan you with ostrich feathers. Wow, that was a nice mental vacation. Back to reality. Anyway, the brushes are great because they are cruelty free since they aren't made of animal hair and they don't carry some of the hygiene problems as real hair brushes either. This lovely little brush just perfectly applies all of my favorite face and neck powders. When I get the chance I'll have one for my travel tote as well as the one I keep on my already overcrowded vanity!
Lumene Radiant C Beauty Drops
I love these little individual capsules. They emit a kind of yellow goo when you cut them open but when you put it on your face it glides over your skin like silk. It gives me a soft, luminous kind of muted glow. I put this on at night after my regular skin care and wake up with the softest skin...ready for a new day. I need to experiment to see if it works well under makeup but I love my Smashbox primer so much I can't imagine putting a layer of this on UNDER that too. For now I just love it for when I want to have a clean face and a soft glow (around the house and on weekend days). I find it on CVS.com. They also travel beautifully for a quick trip...toss a few in your bag and go!
Juara Rice Facial Cleanser
I reviewed this a while back and its STILL my favorite. I use other cleansers out of guilt (I hate waste or to think something isn't getting used so I'll use something I know doesn't work just to not waste) and I always come back to this when I start to break out. The scent is DIVINE, the cleansing isn't harsh and it a TREAT to use it every time. I'm absolutely in love.
