| My Beauty Secret: |
My biggest beauty secret is taking care of my overall self. There are many ways I could do better, and I strive to constantly improve. My second is staying flexible, adventurous and trying new things. I think this keeps me young. And I love and laugh as often as possible! |
| My Routine: |
When I have to I can be showered, made up and dressed, ready to go in 30 minutes. But I do like having more time. Mornings, I use Philosophy's MicroDelivery Microdermabrasion set 2 days a week, first thing. This is a two step system, and then I jump in the shower and shower it off - I have found that to be the best way to get all the crystals off. Other days, I wash my face in the shower, right now I have been using Philosophy's Never Let Them See You Shine scrub. I bought this for my preteen, but, I had to try it and I fell in love. My skin is normal, but, I do get the T zone shine, and this stops it. Plus it is invigorating and feels grand. Shower, scrub, clean, etc. I may or may not shampoo. Sometimes I just rinse really well (pretending I have gobs of lather and rinse rinse rinse - this is one of the reasons why your hair looks great after a visit to the hair dresser, they rinse well at the beginning and end of the shampooing process.) I find often I don't need shampoo, so I skip it. Condition, rinse, and do whatever. Afterward, body lotion or butter. I love Philosophy's butters, especially Empowermint, which they discontinued in most of the items, but, I see they still have the handwash and body masque on the site. The body masque by the way is great. I have several in the stash, as well as a bunch of the 3 - in 1 gel, hot salt scrub and body butter. I don't know why they discontinued this as those three items make for a seriously refreshing summer shower, but... Then I use Philosophy's When Hope is Not Enough serum with The Booster C powder. Then Kumaara's Lumizing Eye Treatment, followed by moisturizer with sunscreen, right now it is Purpose, which I like. I got a bottle in the mail a couple months ago from some magazine insider program. Then the Kumaara Primer, Concealer and a light dusting of mineral veil - no name brand, I bought some wholesale mineral makeup and fill my own jars. Then a bit of brow powder, (Stila), a dusting of blush (Estee Lauder's pink most days) eye shadow (Clinique's Touch Base in White Lighting, with Urban Decay's Creme Shadow in Rehab) liner, (varies, either Urban Decay Ink for Eyes in Bling, Stila Smudge Pot in Brown, for the most part) mascara, which right now is UD's Waterproof Big Fattie. Lips are Cover Girl's Outlast in Naturalast, topped with Lancome' Juicy Tube in Star Shower. And a touch of Benefit's Eye Bright on the inner corner of my eyes. A mist of scent, which is most likely O de Lancome right now and I am good to go! Night time - I take it off with Purity by Philosophy. Or if I have heavy eye makeup, and I mostly do, I use disposable cleansing towelettes by CVS, the Moist Remover Cleansing ones, and then wash with Purity. I then apply the Kumaara Eye Treatment, and Proacea, an OTC rosecea treatment followed by Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair, RoCĀ® Multi-Correxion Night Treatment - I was using Help Me by Philosophy, but tried this earlier this Spring, it is half the price and seems to work just as well. Then Hope in a Jar, regular formula. I reapply lip gloss or balm during the day, blot when necessary (currently using Boscia in Lavender). And hand creme often during the day. Last thing before bed, I moisturize my feet and use lip balm (either Kiss Me by Philosophy or Jack Black). |
| My Horror Story: |
The time I let a friend talk me into going to be a hair model for Fantastic's Sams. I may be able to write about this someday. Even though it happened YEARS ago, it still makes me cry. |
| My Celebrity Look-a-like: |
I have been told, Susan Sarandon and Wynonna Judd. I used to live in Nashville and got told the WJ thing a lot. Usually accompanied by "wow the camera really does add weight, doesn't it?" LOL. There are people (mostly German and Japanese tourists) who have photos of me with them, thinking it is Why. There were times it just got to hard to explain. I suppose they all came with the idea Country Music stars would just be walking around Nashville all the time. I try not to feel bad about this, but, sometimes I do. Now. It was funny then. |
Makeup is Optional Skincare Line by Philosophy
I began using this regime about six years ago and have the best skin of my life. Everything in the line is wonderful. Hope in a Jar and the other Hope products, When Hope is Not Enough and Hope in a Tube are great - I happen to love the scent of these products. And the Microdelivery Peel is just incredible. I can't believe how good my skin looks - and it really didn't take very long to see results. With the Peel, the very first time I used it. I really love not waiting on results.
Carol's Daughter - Hair Milk
I recently discovered this and totally LOVE it. I have naturally curly hair, and this is just the best for enhancing curl. It eliminates frizz. It smells strongly of lemongrass, which as it happens, I love. Plus I have heard lemongrass is a natural mosquito repellent, which is a nice bonus.Seriously, this does incredible things to my hair. When my hair is wet, just lightly blotted with a towel, I work a quarter sized dollop through my hair, then twist it up in a microfiber turban. After about an hour, I take it off, shake out my hair and scrunch it a bit. Magic! My hair stays soft, tangle free and my natural curl is so enhanced. The strong scent either goes away or I get immune to it. Anyway, I love Carol's Daughters Hair Milk.
