About Me
I live in Dallas TX and work in finance (exciting, I know!!) I have had a love affair with makeup since the first time I sat and watched my mom put on her frosty eyeshadow! She was (and still is) beautiful and she helped me to express my girlie side growing up! Now, if only she hadn't talked me out of going to cosmetology school (she said I needed a "real" job)!

I can't live without this product... | I have really, really complicated skin. Some days it's dry, others it's super oily! As an adult, I developed acne (fantastic, isn't it?!) and after many visits to the dermatologist, she recommended I try Cetaphil to wash my face. I was skeptical but decided to try it. It worked!! My face cleared up in about a week and feels so soft!!
I like "Cetaphil Gental Skin Cleanser" (Others who like it too...none yet) Leave a comment or review | No reviews or comments |
I wouldn't die, but I would suffer greatly without this product... Too Faced Lash Injection Without this product, I'd have to start drinking at noon ;-) ... i.d. Bare Minerals My secret beauty recipe and best makeup tips... (none)How long does it really take me to get ready? What's my beauty routine? If I am wearing my hair natural (wavy), about 30 minutes. If I wear it straight, 1hr 15 minutes (I have ALOT of hair)While Meg's mom used to give her at-home perms, my most mortifying makeup moment is... Shaving my eyebrows because I didn't want to pluck them. Stupid, stupid, stupid!!!!My celebrity doppelganger (or so I'm told sometimes) is... When I wasn't so "curvy", I got Drew Barrymore a few times. I don't see it but I'll take it :-)

sammy says, For what it's worth, lots of people mix it with all kinds of things (including orange and apple juice) and I've never heard anyone say this reduces the benefits...
champ3377 says, I told my husband about your message. You put such a different "spin" on my attitude that we were both amazed. I've read many times that, if you have spare change lying around your home, you are among the 8% wealthiest people on earth. When I think of that, I am grateful. It breaks my heart to try to imagine that most of the people on the planet spend their days trying to find food to feed their families. I am blessed. I am blessed for your writing to me. I DID IT AGAIN--sent this to myself! What IS my problem?
champ3377 says, You KNOW me. There was a conference call set up between our bank and the cosmetics company, both claiming they had no idea what happened, and both refusing to refund my money to me! I was taking deep breaths, looked outside at the sky, roses, and yard and thought "It's just money. Look what I have; don't 'sweat the small stuff.'" And I was fine. My talent on this site? To send myself messages. It's humiliating, as I try to delete them before anyone notices. I just did it now! Looking forward to hearing from you . . . God Bless, Gigi
champ3377 says, Forgive me--this computer is not long for this earth and sent you three messages. Have a laugh--I teach computer classes and can't get my own to work!
champ3377 says, Leslie, wow--you made my summer. No, you made my year and I am truly humbled! Your sensitivity to my pain is highly unusual, although the women at this site are amazing (thank God for Meg!). After teaching at the high school and collegiate levels for years, I've had more students than I can recall, but the best part is that I am often able to recognize sincerity, kindness, and talent quickly. It's a "teacher-survival tactic," like the additional ears and eyes we grow to make sure all is well with students during classes (though my "extra eyes" didn't work well last year). There is another woman on this site who writes beautifully and I've been an annoying nag, asking her to pen books as she wants to do, and she is most patient with me. Your comment that "I am an open book to anyone that wants pull up a chair and read it" screams intelligence as well as integrity and a gentle, "old" soul which is sorely lacking in society. Please consider writing me at RedRose030377@aol.com. I derive strength from YOUR comments--I would like to talk if you would. In grad school, I took a course for teachers called "On Becoming Adult." I assumed that it was about teenagers, but the premise was that we just start to "grow up" at the age of 22 and are generally not through developing into fullly functioning, self-actualized adults until we reach our 50's, if we do at all. I concur, as I continue to marvel every day at the new things I learn. I hope I hear from you! I was just angry as my bank as they wrongfully permitted charges to our account, but I just lost my anger (it's a wasted emotion, anyway). God Bless and thanks, Gigi
sammy says, I'd encourage you to give ACV a try. I do think it helps even out my appetite. But mostly I've noticed an improvement in my skin. You can doctor it up to get around the taste. And thank you so much for complimenting my horses, they really are sweethearts.
champ3377 says, You seem like such a sweet, gentle woman--how kind of you to ask how I'm feeling! I still have cramps (probably time for yet another D&C), but I had a scare today as my mom wasn't feeling well. She lives on the next street, and I couldn't leave her home until she was more like herself. Please, tell me more about yourself. I don't want to invade your privacy, but you're lovely. God Bless, Gigi
champ3377 says, Yes, I CAN read. You already know of Ruthie's talent. Blame it on cramps which simply won't go away . . . so sorry.
champ3377 says, By the way, I don't substitute Blue Topaz for Aquamarine. Ruthie works with stones, and I'll ask her where she gets hers. When the season rolls around, they generally offer very few genuine Aquamarine pieces of jewelry, and I know your frustration. God Bless, Gigi
champ3377 says, No problem--all is forgiven. I'm happy just to hear from YOU, even if the message isn't intended to be mine. Steph is a sweetheart and I write her as well, as you're aware. Do you want to know how obtuse I can be? Nearly every day I send a message intended for others to myself (and I teach computer classes). Boy, is my face red.
steph222 says, Back from Sephora! :) I spent WAY too much! But I feel so pretty!! :) I so wanted to grab the Dallas, but I was already closing in on the $200 range & had to rein myself in. I got the UD liner (Rockstar) & eye potion, Nars lipgloss in Stolen Kisses, Tarte foundation, LG spackle primer, Stila eye pencil in Topaz (flesh-toned for inner rims - really opens my eyes) and Sephora's refillable loose powder brush (not really sure of this yet as I lost about an oz of Laura Mercier loose powder on my bathroom floor when the brush part fell out!! Grr... ALMOST ruined the new makeup experience!) :) I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE everything else!!! Thank you so much for your help! You rock!!
steph222 says, Urban Decay liner in Rockstar is actually on the list! I've been using Guerlain bronzer & Bobbi Brown blush & I'm actually pretty happy w/ those together (trick I learned to use warm bronzer, then cool blush to give that healthy pop). Dallas sounds like a very similar color to my Bobbi Brown, I'll have to check it out. I am so stoked about the UD primer! My eye makeup never stays on since my skin is so oily so this (as I explained to my hub) will save makeup/money ;) Let me know how the Phyto goes!! I'm stoked that someone is trying it for the first time - such a great surprise!
steph222 says, Hey girl, I'm still planning my trip as we speak. It's only 8:09 here and the store opens at 10am. Plus, I have to drive through some MAJOR traffic to get there so I probably won't leave until 9:30 or so. Hard to explain to the cop that pulls me over for road-raging that I haven't been to Sephora since Feb! Duh! ;) My hubby really doesn't get it, but he sees how happy it makes me &, let's not kid ourselves, prettier! He has an expensive hobby, so he knows to just let it go! :) It's much better now, I used to live 3 minutes from one before we moved - let's just say my paycheck never made it home :) I don't really splurge on much else - pretty good at finding bargains elsewhere, but you just can't scrimp on beauty! :) I'm down to Time Balm, LG Spackle, Urban Decay eyeliners (can't believe I didn't realize the cult following!), urban decay potion, and then I have about 7 items on my "extra" list in case I'm not happy enough w/ the other items (as much as I want to get my skin looking good, it just doesn't feel like makeup shopping when I don't come home w/ some pretty, colorful items too!) Any tips?
steph222 says, I also meant to ask how you apply the Bare Minerals as I end up extremely fake looking when I use it! Help!! :)
steph222 says, Hey girl, thanks for the welcome! I also use the Biosilk once every 2 weeks or so just to use something different that still works pretty well - I'm a big believer that you need to change up your haircare products every few days/weeks just to keep the buildup from forming. I do notice, however, that I don't get the silkiness like I do w/ the Phyto. Phyto takes my hair from big & frizzy to soft & silky - super touchable! It just really knocks it down. I could give up all products and start over EXCEPT for the Phyto - really changes your hair completely! :) I'd post a pic of myself w/o the Phyto, but I just can't bring myself to do it! :) Thanks again for the welcome & I look forward to sharing more hair tips w/ each other! Also, look into Kerastase shampoo & conditioner - I almost put that up for one of my faves, but felt I was all about the hair w/ the other products already :)
rubestr3 says, Thanks for the welcome! We all have our crazee hair stories... way too often most times! Great to meet you!
champ3377 says, That was supposed to read "I'm not the one sneezing." I am a moron.
champ3377 says, I'm really excited to hear from you personally and am glad you enjoy my pieces. The women here are quite talented and it's hard to live up to their work. Forgive me, please, but I'm actually laughing out loud about sneezing when you tweeze brows. I don't understand the connection but it's hysterical (at least to me, because I'm not the only sneezing!). Hand over that piggy bank and no one will get hurt . . . You, too, have a blessed day! Gigi
angelluna says, Greetings fellow Dallasite! Curious to know if there are any blogs like this dedicated to us girls in DFW area?
roxtarchic says, thank you & thank you (and yeah my hair DOES look shiny in that photo... doesnt it... yeah, no idea why! must be a photo) haha... thanks for the comment, my first one, & for making me feel welcome!
