shelley says, Hi! Thanks for the comment a little while back! You're so sweet! You know what, though? I was wrong...it wasn't the Mineral Veil, its the Multi-minerals that is the really good one for covering up blemishes!! Sorry! I was just looking closer at the label and thought "uh-oh, I gave her the wrong name! OOOPs!" I see that you've had foot surgery...? Hope you're doing well and healing quickly! Shelley
sweetassgal says, I hope your foot surgery went well. I had one about 4 years ago and it took AGES to heal but I didn't have a new purse or Dirty Dancing on my Ipod to soothe me...spoiled girl! Just kidding. And I must agree about the Proactive thing Kate said. I know it works for some people but it absolutely terrifies me. My daughter used it for a bit and I was skeptical. It wasn't until I found her nicely brownish gold face cloth in the wash that I became REALLY concerned. It was no longer an elegant gold...it was BRIGHT YELLOW ORANGE. The Proactive had completely bleached it out and ruined the fabric. Please just imagine that if it is doing that to a wash cloth...what must it be doing to your skin. Crazy!!! Just find a line (hopefully a natural or organic one) that doesn't strip your skin and cleanses completely without being harsh. Make sure you moisturize and protect and you are on your way to better skin. Anyway, I wanted to make sure you were healing well after the surgery. Take care!!!
kate2004rock says, My advice would be to stay away from Proactive though. It's super drying so yes it DOES dry up your acne while you're using it, as soon as you stop your oil production will be in overdrive and you'll be back where you started.
kate2004rock says, I'd use things in this order. And you can always combine steps that are next to each other in the same product. Treatment (if any), Moisturizer, Sunscreen, Primer, Complexion (foundation) And the Time Balm should be a great acne concealer...I've never had any problems with it. You could also try Benefit's Galactic Shield Concealer which is medicated with acne medicine and it works wonders.
champ3377 says, Hey, pretty, I hear you--I am prone to cyclical breakouts and it makes me nuts (that's supposed to happen when you're a teenager, not a woman in her 40's!). Kate did an AMAZING JOB with her thorough, informative piece. Just to follow-up: I have read a plethora of reviews in magazines stating that Mario Badescu's skin care products are the "gold standard." The "Drying Cream" ($12.00) is supposed to act as both a light concealer and also leave a shiny face looking freshly washed. Mario's "Drying Lotion" ($17.00) is used by professional makeup artists to heal blemishes quickly. If you have severe acne but are NOT (read: NOT) sensitive to items, try Proactive's system. Clinique offers skin care to minimize pores while handling blemishes and I like them. I always keep Clean and Clear's blotting tissues in my purse to keep oil at bay during the day without ruining my makeup. Crabtree & Evelyn used to make "powder" sheets to cleanse and add a refined look, but I'm not certain if they still do. Joey New York has a "Pure Pores" line (a bit pricey), but it does deliver. It is gentle enough for all but those with the most fragile complexions. I'm addicted to their almond scrub. Clay-based face masques are helpful in drawing out impurities. A hint--use mineral foundation and apply with a brush to make breakouts disappear without a "caked" look. Now, don't you feel even more lovely than you are?
xstatic817 says, And I forgot to mention how AWESOME it is that you met Barack Obama...I won't get too into politics here but i'm thinking about baking some things for that nationwide bake sale I keep getting emails about. Cupcakes for change!
xstatic817 says, I also love all things Japanese! Sometimes me and my husband will go to this big Japanese grocery store in Jersey and I'll just look and all the beauty products even though i can't read a word of the packaging. I'll keep an eye out for products. Hmm, favorite Disney movies would have to be Aladdin and Little Mermaid, although my favorite characters are Jiminy Cricket, Tinkerbell, and Figment from the Imagination ride in Epcot (does he count?). But for my wedding I did a more Cinderella theme, because, well, you can really only get away with doing that the one time. And I love the pic you posted! Juno is in my top 10 favorite movies and not 2 days ago did I buy the 2 disc DVD! I cannot put into words my feelings about that film, it just hits me somewhere and I don't even know why :)
sweetassgal says, Shoes and purses...two things that always make me happy. My hubby doesn't get it. I've tried to explain to him that no matter how much weight I may gain/lose during parts of my life, or how unhappy I may get over the lumps and bumps that come with getting older, no matter how bad the hair day...a kicky pair of shoes or a fabulous bag NEVER let you down. It's practically my religion. The Divine Sisterhood of Gloriously Adorned Accessories...and I'm the friggin, POPE (absolutely no offense to any of our Catholic sisters...I was raised in THE catholic town)! Glad to be making a new friend sweetie...GLAM ON!
indianafarmwife says, I will send you thoughts of the perfect pedicure. OPI “Got the Blues for Red” Good luck.
indianafarmwife says, Hey chicklet! Yeah, the $$$ can be pretty outrageous. You don’t see me commenting on Epione or any of the other Fab Friday type products. BUT they have helped tremendously in selecting samples… and I’ve wound up with a couple of near staples in my collection. A couple of good examples: Perricone’s Ceramic Skin Smoother and Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment. I never would have found their deliciousness without Megs. Still… It looks like I’m not alone in my love of Palmer’s and Burts Bees and Kiehl’s. Good to see you de-lurkified.
xstatic817 says, i wasn't even a drama geek...i was a wannabe drama geek. i went to a really small private school that didn't really have performing arts and i tried to campaign for a program but to no avail. its a pleasure to "meet" you :)
sweetassgal says, It's great to see you joining in! Come on in...the water's fine!!!! See ya' around sister!
