About Me
I'm 19 years old and in college, but my major is undecided. I live in a small city, whose only claim to fame is for being the birth-place of a famous jazz musician who died a few years back. The closest Sephora is unfortunately three hours away in Atlanta. Or perhaps that is fortunate, since I would surely spend 80% of my paycheck there if I lived nearby.
I work at the family motorcycle dealership, though I really know next-to-nothing about motorcycles, nor do I ride them.
Despite being born and raised in the South, I've never worn a Confederate flag t-shirt bearing the slogan "Southern pride" or "the South: beaten, but never conquered" nor have I ever fired a gun. Jeff Foxworthy wouldn't believe I was Southern if he met me.
Sweet tea is my drink of choice, and I firmly believe that if you are a restaraunt below the Mason-Dixie line, you should serve sweet tea. (I'm talking to you, Atlanta!) It's simply un-Southern not to do so.
It's really hot where I live, un-Godly hot and humid! I once went to Portland, Oregon and someone I was speaking with said that "it wasn't usually this hot and humid." It was about 80 degrees, with maybe 30% humidity. I looked at the person and said, "if you think this is hot and humid, you wouldn't survive where I come from." This week in fact, we're looking at 106 degrees and 100% humidity. That's so hot that it makes you feel like you're walking through molasses.
I like makeup, I have a good bit of it and wear most everything. Once I find something I really love, I'll always keep it on hand. If you try and deprive me of my foundation, prepare for this sweet southern belle and plump Georgia peach to put down her glass of sweet tea and put a whoopin on your behind.

I can't live without this product... | Absolutely THE best mineral foundation that I've ever tried. It is one of the first things that I ever saw on an infomerical that I gave a shot. (Well, I tried it at Sephora) I tried it and I've never looked back. Mineral makeup is the best thing for my skin. It covers, conceals, and perfects, just as promised.
Story time: I once found a bottle of CoverGirl liquid foundation that I quit using after I found Bare Minerals. I decided to put some on, thinking I should use it up. After I put it on, I stepped back and nearly screamed. My face looked like a mask! It looked completely fake and plastic and matte and pasty and I looked like a ghoul. I had to wash my face and start my makeup over. No WAY was I leaving the house looking like that! I pushed out every thought of being wasteful or anti-green and threw that stuff in (as my grandmother puts it) the gar-bahge.
For you DD Divas: Now if the budget's tight, I do use Maybelline Mineral Power foundation. That's the best drugstore brand that I've tried, but chuck the brush! When I mushed it against my face, the bristles spread too much to be of any use.

I wouldn't die, but I would suffer greatly without this product... Smashbox Photofinish primer and Soap & Glory Scrub Your Nose In It This is the first and only primer I've ever tried. It does a good job of filling in my large pores and creating a smooth canvas for my makeup. But for goodness sakes, when you think you've run out, take off the pump, get a q-tip and scrape it out! I swear, there are at least 5 more uses out of that bottle if you do this. Hey, by getting every last bit, you could save yourself a little more money and you could get another beauty product!
I found the Soap & Glory line at Target, after hearing that it was made by the same woman who started Bliss. I decided I HAD to try something. So I picked up this scrub in the hopes that it would help in my constant battle against large pores and acne. I can't say that it's really done much against my mild acne, but the scrub does a fantastic job of not making my skin red! Which is a HUGE deal for me. Every scrub I try turns me into a tomato's twin. It's very gentle and exfoliates just enough that after I moisturize, I have a very smooth face. Plus, the second ingredient (after water) is kaolin clay, so it doubles as a face mask: two products in one! Whoo hoo!

Without this product, I'd have to start drinking at noon ;-) ... Philosophy Purity cleanser Favorite!!! I love this stuff. When I travel, I seriously carry a little bottle of it with me, because I just can't use any hotel soap or tolietries on my face. They make me feel like I have a residue, which dries to a mask on my face. (And I doubt that I'll get any pore-tightening benefits from this mask!) It totally dissolves all my makeup that I wear on a daily basis (except this new waterproof Covergirl Lash blast mascara that I just tried, I didn't like it.) and does it quickly to boot.

My secret beauty recipe and best makeup tips... Wash face only twice daily, moisturize, brush teeth twice daily to keep them white, use GoSMILE if you need it (I do!), never buy anything that doesn't make you feel fabulous, eat well, laugh lots, and drink up!How long does it really take me to get ready? What's my beauty routine? I can do my entire daily routine in 10 minutes. Bare Escentuals foundation, BE blush, BE Mineral Veil (powder) to set, lipstick and baby, I'm gone!
Glam? We're talking 20. Add Smashbox primer first, do daily routine, then curl lashes with Shu Uemura curler, add shadow, mascara, and then grab the purse and have fun! While Meg's mom used to give her at-home perms, my most mortifying makeup moment is... The days where I'm not wearing ANY!!!! haha :)My celebrity doppelganger (or so I'm told sometimes) is... I've never been told I look like anyone famous.
Maybe Howard Stern on a really, really, really bad day! hahaha!

champ3377 says, You are a miracle worker! I've been pretty rushed recently and sat down to search for "Neem teeth twigs." THEY DO EXIST--YOU ARE RIGHT! Not only do they clean teeth, but the research I've read says the bark prevents gum disease and much more. Just when I went to purchase the twigs, this ridiculous computer froze, but I can't thank you enough for your help. I have missed those twigs for years and can't wait to get them again! God Bless, Gigi (I OWE YOU!!!)
champ3377 says, Thank you, thank you, thank you! I never was told any name and it was one of the best items I've used in my life. Now I have a way of searching. I owe you--big time! Much Appreciated and God Bless, Gigi
chichi says, Himekosorano, sorry I’m so late in my reply. Unfortunately, I never got to see the Grey Gardens show on Broadway. I wish I was able to! I’m excited to see the new movie too – can’t wait to see what they do with it. Did you look at my profile pictures? We (Desertdoll and Lilykane on the site and some friends) went as the GG cast. It was a blast!! Welcome to megsmakeup!
