Heat Protectant-How much is too much?

Ok, this is going to be a really dumb and basic question. I'm trying to cut down on the use of product pile up in my hair so I can wash it less times a week. If I actually blow dry my hair I usually blow it dry at night and then flat iron it the next morning. If I put a heat protectant in my hair prior to blow drying do I need to use more the next morning for flat ironing? LoL..see? dumb question, but it's been bugging me.

I know this wont tottally answer your questiong but I only use the heat protectant spray when I flat iron. because I know it's really hot.its best to blow dry on a slightly cooler setting.I use the hot setting but on low. It's not that hot so I dont feel the need to use unnecessary product for heat protection.

yes that's how i do it
i put on heat protectant at each step so before blow drying, before flat ironing, before using a curling iron.

A_banger, I think that's what I will probably do. My hair is so thick that it takes forever to blow dry on high settings all around. Maybe my problem is to find a better blow dryer!
well, i used a treatment for my hair in the shower that's a heat protectant, and then when my hair is wet, i put another protectant in it, and use that for when i blow dry. occasionally i will use another spray type of heat protector in my hair before straightening, but i don't like loading too much into my hair. i think that you can get away without using so much product if you try washing with something that will help protect your hair, as well as blow dry on a cooler setting.
I would suggest letting your hair dry naturally and then utting the heat spray on when you straighten. But I know that that is not always possible, so if you do blowdry, try to do it on a lower setting, and when you are done, just quickly on the coolest setting blow it alll over your head to seal the cuticles and avoid split ends. And to answer your question, I would apply the heat spray before both.
I only use it before I flat iron. I do it the same way that you do, blow dry at night, then flat iron in the morning. I also put some oil on only the ends of my hair before I iron it, and it really cuts down on the damage. I make sure to do only the ends so I can still go a few days in between washings.
I just use the cherry bomb before blow drying then i straighten it.. it works for me.. i hate product build up too!A good clarifying shampoo will remove some build up too.. maybe if you used it once a week :)
