Coconut Oil use
Thu, 09/24/2009 - 7:50am
Ok so I've been using the coconut oil in my hair and on my skin and I can't rave enough about it. I've read so many good things about what it does for your hair and can do internally, and trust me my hair can really use it. I recently got my hair cut and colored. I guess with all the dead ends off now my hair doesn't need it because when I get out of the shower and dry it its oily. I don't feel like I'm using that much and I want to continue so that my hair gets healthier but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions?

Are you applying the coil to your roots? If so, stop right there! You should really only apply a small amount to the ends of your hair.
Yeah I'm focusing on my ends and then there is the film on your hands and I just run my plams through the rest of my hair, all while its still wet. My hair really needs something to help it get healthier and if this isn't going to work than I'm really not sure where to find a product that will. I have heard of Fekkai Anti Breakage mask for hair and I hope I can try that soon but $$ is too tight at the moment

I use as a "treatment" rather than an everday product. :)I comb through dry hair pre-washing and then add a bandana or braids and let it work it's magic for a few hours...or I comb through and soak in tub. Then I shampoo out completely and add a lght conditioner...it's amazing this way!
If you're on a budget I recommend combining honey and avocado in a bowl with a dash of olive oil, keep it in for 30 minutes and wash out! I do this once every 2 weeks.Avocado and olive oil are both highly moisturizing and help keep hair cuticles smooth. Honey attracts and holds moisture, is a natural antiseptic and has a lot of antioxidant and vitamins.
I would only use a tiny bit on the ends. I'd never ever apply it to my roots. Are you applying it in place of conditioner or after you condition? If you're using it with conditioner maybe try to use it without conditioner and see where that gets you.
