About Me
Hi everyone! So far my quest for healthy, beautiful skin has been a long one, as some of you can relate. It's just so hard to find that perfect combination to achieve flawless skin! It's been a long time coming but I think I'm getting closer to finally finding the "magic combination."(Note: I keep mentioning combination because I realized a few years back that there never will be just one product you use and voila your skin is beautiful!oh well). You see I have combination skin( normal-dry cheeks + chin, oily t-zone) plus my skin is sensitive and acne-prone! So to try and find something that moisturizes my dry parts yet mattifies my oily parts and doesn't make me break out all at the same time is like finding a needle in a haystack!I have just come to terms that my skin is picky, kind of suits me because I am sorta picky;). I mean all I'm asking for is something good for my skin that will make my skin look and feel great and won't cost me an arm and a leg! That's not picky right?..jaja..a girl can dream right..on a more personal note I'm a starving student and single mommy to my beautiful 5 yr old who owns my heart<3..!!hopefully i can get a job during break so i can support my sephora addiction, pay my bills, and still manage to take my baby out to see the latest kid movie( i secretly love them all..i loved finding nemo!!)Anyway that pretty much sums it up for me. Maybe if your experiencing the same "symptoms" as me we can help each other find our magic potion for beautiful skin and enjoy the good life....good luck to all:)To great skin and a beautiful you...Salud!

I can't live without this product... | Philosophy's Acne Kit is absolutely amazing and has done wonders for my skin and I'm convinced that if you have skin like I did it can do wonders for you too!! This kit has four steps which are lovingly labeled On A Clear Day:) The first step is your Super Wash for Oily Skin, apply a nickel-sized amount to your face and massage in a circular motion all over your face for at least 30 seconds then wash off with warm water. This step is meant to supress oil and leave you skin squeaky clean:) Step #2 is the Blemish Serum for Adult Acne, this you apply in a light layer over your problem areas. By morning it will seem as if they've almost vanished overnight..sure we've all heard that before including me but it really does work. At most its taken two days for any of my acne to disappear! I absolutely love it!! Just beware for those of you with dry skin you need to add a moisturizer before the last step because this serum can be drying to the skin(moisturizer is not included in this kit). Nonetheless i still think its a great kit!!Continuing on to the 3rd step is the H2O2 cream(hydrogen peroxide cream) which is meant to sanitize the skin and keep bacteria at bay. When applying the cream make sure to just get a tiny bit(a little goes a long way) and apply onto your skin in one direction otherwise it becomes a flaky mess. I tried applying it in a circular motion and I ended up with what looked like snow flakes on my face..not good! So remember apply in one direction, I go from the center of my face VERY IMPORTANT: Do not let this stuff get on your eyebrows because it will bleach them...if you remember as I do my cousins used to bleach their hair using H2O2 so it only makes sense that this would do the same so be aware of where you put it ladies unless you have blonde eyebrows then youre good.. If you want to apply a moisturizer for those of dry skin types or for those of you that get dry patches as I did, around the corners of my mouth and nose, do that after step 3. The last step is I think what makes all the difference, The Protection Cream. It does just that- protects your skin. Keeping the good stuff in and the bad stuff out. A lot of times we go out and buy these kits for acne and you do the whole shebang and then you walk out the door and all the bad elements in the air start attacking your skin so all the hard work you did in treating your skin just went down the drain!Back to square one right? Not anymore, the protection cream acts as a "band-aid" so as to make sure that those bad elements waiting at the foot of your door to pounce on the good of your skin will be stopped short by the barrier that this protection cream creates. Doesnt the sound of that feel good! Well it not only sounds good but it feels good! This cream also doubles as a primer, smoothing out your skin meanwhile protecting it from the elements!I give this kit two thumbs way up!! I never thought I'd find the solution to my acne after trying all kinds of kits from proactive to murad to drugstore brands nothing seemed to work. If you have lost hope then hope no more because you could be on your way to a clear day with this kit:)By the way you can find this kit online at philosophy.com, sephora.com, qvc.com, or even on ebay! I purchased mine at my local sephora for $47 but I have been told you can find it much cheaper on ebay. I prefered to try it first that way if it didn't work i could return it to sephora no questions asked(on ebay returns can be tricky with stuff like this). Now that i have tried it and am completely satisfied I'm going to look into maybe getting it off ebay for cheaper..if i find a good vendor I'll let all the ladies know:)To great skin and to a beautiful you...Salud!

Without this product, I'd have to start drinking at noon ;-) ... Smashbox High Definition Healthy FX Foundation- love this stuff!! | For those of you not familiar with the smashbox line, this line was created by a photo studio for those tedious photo shoots with supermodels and celebrities. Photographers found it was very costly to have to constantly re-apply make-up during shoots to avoid making the models look cakey so they decided to create their own line that could withstand those hot studio lights and last! Well I'm sold with their High Definition Healthy Fx Foundation, which by the way has a UVA/UVB SPF of 15 and is Oil-Free! I love how well this foundation goes on your skin, you can actually feel the goodness of it on your skin! They have a wide selection of shades to match any tone. When I was introduced to this foundation at my local Sephora I found that I could use two different shades that both looked great! When have we ever been able to say that!! The good stuff doesnt stop there..oh no..this foundation contains time-released skin energizers and vitamin c to keep you skin looking good all day. I apply it in the morning and wear it all day and its still looking great! It goes on so weightless and smooth and provides just the right amount of coverage I need, and the best part is you can build coverage with this foundation, so if one day my skin isn't as flawless as the next I can just dab a little extra on and I'm good to go and it never looks cakey or overdone which I love! It gives great coverage but doesnt hide your skin either....I know this because I can still see my freckles peeking through...leaving my skin looking natural. I bought mine at my local Sephora for $38..but before you gasp at the price a little goes a long way. I use it everyday and its lasted me almost 6 weeks now and I still have a little more than 1/4 left. I know I used to pay about $13 for the drugstore foundation I used to buy(Revlon Colorstay Active Foundation) and it didnt work anywhere near as well as this does. So for an extra $7 a month I'm getting a better foundation thats better for my skin...sold to the lady with not so perfect skin!!Go ahead and try it and you'll feel what I'm talking about:) I suggest purchasing it through Sephora for first-timers that way if for any reason it doesn't work for you(although I'm sure you'll love it!) you can return it no questions asked! For those of you with an oily t-zone such as myself pairing it with Smashbox's Compact Anti-Shine is a great match! I just dab it on my t-zone before applying my foundation and your set to go...shine-free literally all day. I love them both! To great skin and to a beautiful you...Salud!

My secret beauty recipe and best makeup tips... I wouldn't say its a secret but man does it make a big difference!water..water..and more water!! i have found that all some people need is to drink more water and that makes a significant difference in their skin and health overall!! Unfortunately for me that's not my complete solution but it does make a difference...for example when i drink water my pores get smaller, my complexion is clearer than usual and my skin kind of glows on its own...the best part is its a lot cheaper than creams, and lotions, and serums, the list goes on and on! So i'd say start drinking at least 2 liters of water a day and see what good old water can do for you:)
Another good tip is for exfoliating your lips...listen carefully because this can be a tricky process...lol....no im just kidding its actually very simple. Now when your in the shower(especially in a hot one like i do..lol)just when your about to turn the water off just get the tip of your index finger and rub it it in a circular motion across your lips and that will slough off any dead skin...simple right? No need to get those expensive lip scrubs or exfoliators just leave it to the tip of your finger to do it for you...:)p.s. you can do it when your washing your face too..yay!
Oh my gosh I cant believe I was almost forgetting this one(heres to you greenie;)..)!! Its not so obvious but so important(especially for us acne-prone girlies..can i get a witness!!lol)ok BIG TIP: Wipe your precious little celly clean with an anti-bacterial wipe as often as possible. Your fingers touch so many things during the day God only knows whats on your hands(unless your a germophobe like me and carry antibacterial handgel in your purse...yes i confess:)jeje)then you touch your celly with your hands and its over!( i have a blackberry pearl and i fear its exposed to everything!) how many times have you cleaned your screen with your fingers and it only becomes a greasy mess...ok maybe im the only one but my point is once you put that cell up to your face bacteria has a field day!..unless your wiping away only then do you have a fighting chance. So get to wiping ladies...oh yah and pls dont forget to wash your sheets and especially pillowcases and face towels often(places that come in the most contact with your face)!! im not pointing any fingers im just saying:) im a clean super freak so I wash mine once a week at least and have three to exchange using during the week. hope this helps:)
To great skin and to a beautiful you...Salud!How long does it really take me to get ready? What's my beauty routine? I like to call it a "process"..(thats what i tell my hubby;)..) and it fits well...okay okay I'll just spit it out it takes about 30 minutes. But wait, wait, wait! I should tell you that thats only for cleansing, treating, and makeup..lol...now if you want to add in there doing my hair and getting dressed you should add about 20- 1 1/2 hrs on top of that depending on how dolled up I wanna get...and then theres the shower which is usually 15-20 minutes [[guilt:(]]..ok so let me get my calculator out.....so thats 30+ average of 55 minutes for hair/clothes+ 20= tantadan...drumroll pls....1 hr 45 minutes with out breaks included..wow!!While Meg's mom used to give her at-home perms, my most mortifying makeup moment is... i think looking back at how i used to line my lips with a dark brown pencil and fill them in with a dark chocolate-shade lipstick over...the matte type of course so my lips would look so super dry and super dark against my pale skin....omg the horror!! what was i thinking!!??? oh and lets not forget the time i overplucked my eyebrows and had a gap in the middle of my eyebrow....plus i had no knowledge of brow gels/powders and the like so I had to walk around with my little bare patch for the whole world to see...what can i say i was an amatuer then....you live and you learn right?lolMy celebrity doppelganger (or so I'm told sometimes) is... Ive been told I look similar to JLO and/or Shakira.... neither of which I can relate to, maybe in the booty region but I'd say thats about it:)

micah says, I am sorry it has taken me so Iong to leave you a message, but I have been really busy. But as for the microdelivery peel I don't know if dr. brandt is better or not. All I know is that consistancy is the key. Olay has one too and the only difference I can see is that philosophy has vitamin c it is which is really good. On another note: a got a juice beauty starter kit for christmas from a friend and I really like it, but I am using all philosophy products right now and a just got more because I was out. Should I just keep it and when I am running out of something use it or just use it once in a while to see what I think. I need some feedback.
desertdoll says, Hi Chiq! Keep trying with the HIP liner-you'll get better. Get a good brush too, bend ones help. Re: bronzers, you know-my favorite bronzer is by Maybelline. It's their expert wear in sunlight. It's not too shimmery, not at all orange and CHEAP! Give that a try. I don't have Laguna, but I'm sure it's fab. Take Care~DDoll
txtipster says, I haven't been to Whole Foods to get the lotion yet. The closest one to my house is about 25 minutes away and it's downtown and I just hate to battle with traffic to get there. It sounds amazing. I love lotions of all kinds. Hopefully, I will be able to get myself over there soon and try it out. My blush is the Tarte cheekstain in Tickled. I love it...and it has never made me breakout and I do have acne prone skin. Blushing Bride is also another very pretty color in the stain. It is on my wishlist for my next Sephora trip.
charchar44 says, Hey, I sincerely hope you didn't try doing the eyeliner gel application with the brush that comes with the HIP creme liners. Cuz it's way too thick! You have to get a thin one like from Sephora! Or what about wetting the thin liner brush and using regular eye shadow?? :):):)... I love gel liners so much and it took me a while to get it like artwork lol...but i can't really go back to pencil unless I'm doing my bottom lid.
micah says, I am looking for a new plum and bronze eye palette. Is their any palette or brand that you recommend? I have been looking at sephora and I just haven't really found one that I like. Or I was thinking maybe to just go with one color like a nice dark plum in a cream shadow. I just don't know what to do. Please help!!
lilykane says, I'll try that lotion for sure! ; ) It sounds amazing!!!!! i added my smashbox love too!!! Thanks for the update!! I'll let you know when I get that lotion!! Thanks lady! xx
greenie says, Thanks so much for the tips!! I didn't even think about that cell phone thing, and I always get a nice pimple right in that spot where it lyes on my chin! Thanks again! xoxo
Olliebee says, Hi Chiquita, thanks for adding me as a friend! I was just reading your profile and saw your info about the water drinking. I can't agree enough! I drink 4 liters p/day and when I miss one I feel completely different. If affects not only my complection, but my energy level, mood, etc. Here's to water!
txtipster says, Thanks for the friend add. You look exactly like a good friend of mine. Are you sure you don't have a twin in Texas? I'll have to pick up some of that lotion you love at Whole Foods. I'm a lotion junkie!
kate2004rock says, LOL. I thought about it last week, but I was trying to hold out be cause I personally hate the fact that "Christmas" has to start Nov. 1. It should start the day after thanksgiving if you ask me. The pilgrims earned their props. I digress, Well....I'll see what I can do. :)
greenie says, You are one HOT Mamma ;).!! Thanks for saring your halloween story, and all your beaty tips. Your skin is amazing so I am going to study them ;)!
mary_tyler_gore says, Aw!! That sounds adorable!! I love sleeping beauty!! And a witch and bunny! Sounds so cute!! I dressed up my friends kids as Wednesday and Dorothy! It was fun.. Im way better at other peoples make up too!! That sounds fun with school! I'm with you on the Sephora account!! I Love it there.. and Im a MAC Addict too!! I only let myself in their stores every 3 months.. i have no self control =)
desertdoll says, I think my brush is Sephora's brand and it was only 10 bucks too. Let me know how you do! XO~DDoll
desertdoll says, All the creme pot eyeliners out right now are really good. I like the LOreal HIP one, it's only about 10 bucks and at any drugstore. Investing in a bend eyeliner brush really helps too. Makes it very easy to apply. And the HIP one comes in great colors too, a very inky black, a bright teal, a deep purple-gorgeous! Good luck!
kryssanthe says, The skin's a little more glowy than usual, the hair seems a little shinier, and I feel a little fresher. I'm only a month in, but it doesn't get easier. My hubby laughs at me when I get the shot glass and the Kool-aid out and I totally pinch my nose and it's usually followed by me uttering, "GAW...GAW...GAW...YUCK...GAWWWWW". He thinks it's HILARIOUS.
mary_tyler_gore says, It was a great Halloween! its my favorite Holiday so I went all out...Im sad its over..but now I can start planning for next year!! Hope yours was great too!! What are you studying in School ?
laratf says, I found Lip Trip at Whole Foods but you can also get it on Drugstore.com. I have spent SO much money on expensive lip balms but nothing compares to this product. I put it on the morning and I literally don't have to reapply anything for the rest of the day, not even before bed. LOVE : )
absinthe says, que onda chiquitita? lolz - don't tell anyone but chiquita is my karaoke pseudonym. since you live in s.d. i'm sure you could dig up lots of stories about chiquita's renditions of "cold miner's daughter" in dive bars all over the county. anyways, i love revlon 3-d mascara too - it was you who said she loved it, right? xoxo
mary_tyler_gore says, Thanks for sharing the Halloween Story!! I love a good chilling story!!! BOO~ xoMTG
tashagogo says, hi sexy mami. I usually use Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner...but it definately smudges ...but i like it because as the day goes on it gets more smudgy and sexy...MEOW!! If you want a liner that doesn't budge, I'd suggest Smashbox cream eye liner or Bare Escentuals mineral liner. They both go on very easy...no tugging at the delicate skin around your eyes...and last about as long as the energizer bunny. I also still love me some liquid liner...you can never go wrong with that, if you want drama. nothing is better than sexy kitty cat eyes!!! I loved your Halloween story...I was getting scared...lol.
