About Me
As an artist, I've always been fascinated by color. In my twenties, I did modeling in Pittsburgh and learned professional tips and tricks for makeup application and skin/body/hair care. Thank God my husband is a patient man--I probably own more beauty items than most stores sell!

I can't live without this product... | I change like the season and am in love with color, especially eyeshadows. Pop Beauty's "Smokey Eyes" palettes offers lush, sultry matte hues in black, steel greg, deep sapphire, silver, deep plum and violet, bronze, a dusky green and light shades in "Nude Glow," "Opal Gold," and "Sparkling White. The finely-milled powder applies effortlessly (use a brush for best results). For $32.00, it's a "must-have." They include a mirror (yeah!) and it comes in a handle, attractive leather-like wallet. This is a bargain all the way!
I like "Pop Beauty's" (Others who like it too...champ3377 ollie elparks2 demiflo ) Leave a comment or review | No reviews or comments |
I wouldn't die, but I would suffer greatly without this product... Lancome's Dual Finish Compact Makeup | There's probably not a foundation I haven't tried, and I was devoted to a liquid shade by Christian Dior for many years. One day I purchased Oil of Olay's "Complete Radiance" foundation in a hurry from a drugstore (where else?). It kept me glowing. Olay has quit producing this, and Lancome's version is the next best thing. Lancome's powder foundation covers flaws and uneven skin tones without a heavy feel. Moreover, it adds a bit of luminosity to flatter and does not cling to or emphasize lines.

Without this product, I'd have to start drinking at noon ;-) ... Bare Escentuals Heroes Collection | For shame, I'm fickle (however, I do believe that's my prerogative as a woman). I've found a "new love" in this amazing kit by Bare Escentuals. I had seen and read promotions about their "Raw Minerals Skin Revival Treatment," but it's pricey (about $60). Minerals that soften, smooth, and minimize pores? I thought not--too good to be true. I began receiving ads for the this." The kit includes a smaller version of this revolutionary skin care product, along with two flattering hues of mineral eyeshadow, mineral veil, a beautiful blush aptly named "Pure Charm," "Buxom Big and Healthy Lip Balm" in "Bunny" (gentle coral), and three great, effective, professional brushes. So I took a deep breath and put it on my debit card. The entire kit was priced as the same as the "Skin Revival, albeit in s smaller yet generous size. So lost the guilt ("Catholic guilt" is highly effective). After many wonderful years of marriage, I'm blessed to say that my husband's eye is the only male one I want to "catch" and find myself with foundation, blush, and eyeshadows after cleansing my complexion. Hey, Meg, please don't kill me! I'm guilty of "beauty sin" and I find myself putting on light foundation, eyeshadows, and blush. Kindly don't kill me, Meg--I am aware of how bad this is, but I can be "drop-dead" ugly and repugnant without color. My husband still doesn't know why I "look so gorgeous" when we wake up. "Skin Revival"
actually goes above and beyond their claims for me. Application could not be more easy--simply remove the lid and use the lush sponge attached to gently rub over your face in circular motions. Not only do I retire glowing, even-toned, and sexy, but I feel like velvet. Tiny lines which are starting to appear softened and and pores are far less noticeable. How funny is this? My husband uses it as well and he is not a vain man. I couldn't imagine what causes these amazing results and found out: It contains
botanical ingredients purified soil which inhibit the growth of bacteria(?!), powerful fruit extracts, Vitamins A and C, Aloe Vera, wheat germ, and more. It sounds like it was formulated by bored employees at a General Nutrition Center outlet, but I am most impressed, and my complexion keeps improving with use. I could write a novel on how I enjoy the accompanying products, but I'll leave you in suspense for now . . . don't you love cliffhangers? I've been watching "The Young and the Restless" too long!

My secret beauty recipe and best makeup tips... Beauty begins within and I'm a huge believer in healthy eating and vitamins to look and feel good. The best way to glow is to enjoy life, count your blessings, flash a "killer" smile, and then hand over the makeup and no one will get hurt . . .How long does it really take me to get ready? What's my beauty routine? As a teacher at a high school and college, I have little time for makeup application and touch-ups. I'm quite fair and look ghostly without color, so I gravitate toward easy-to-apply, no-fuss, long-lasting products. In order to prepare for school, I've pared down my routine to about fifteen minutes. If I'm going out to a special event, then I pamper myself (shame on me--an hour or more!). I follow all the tips I learned when I used to model and play with my brushes to define and sculpt my cheekbones and eyes. I brush my brows upward and out for a wide-awake look and use a lip liner and brush for my pout. I tend to every detail. While Meg's mom used to give her at-home perms, my most mortifying makeup moment is... I woke up late one morning a few years ago, with ten minutes to get to school. I simply could not be late that day, and so I went bare-faced and was relatively non-functional because I felt naked. During my 25-minute lunch period, my car was blocked by others in the parking lot, and so I literally ran to a drugstore and back and bought the basics to see me through (foundation, shadow, lipstick, mascara). Whew!My celebrity doppelganger (or so I'm told sometimes) is... I've been compared to Jaclyn Smith and am humbled; the woman is utter perfection!

finnanagan says, hey champion...thanks so much for getting back to me so soon. I'm freaking out!! My 20 year class reunion is in two weeks...I just got the invite yesterday, no time for a facelift (ha ha)...Does any pictures of mine show up besides that one profile picture? I'm going to try again to post some. I have another question for you concerning foundation. I need something affordable that has good coverage but not too heavy. I have discoloration problems on the sides of my face due to hormone changes and sun damage and it drives me crazy. I also don't want something that's going to settle into the lines and make them more noticeable, I have to look GREAT for this reunion, I haven't seen any of them since our 10 year. I'm sure I will have the youngest child there. I've been using the Mabelline mousse foundation and it's okay, but I think I could do better. Please don't say Bare Minerals, my Mom ordered some of it and I was not impresed, probably didn't do it right. I've been trying to firm up my body, but I will probably resort to control tops instead, I will be wearing jeans, that's what looks best on me, plus it's a casual event, ballgame one night and get together at our old theater building for a slide show the next night. I've been waiting all year for someone to put it together, I honestly thought we weren't having one, SURPRISE! Anyway, do you ever eat almonds? I read somewhere that they can help with migranes, plus they are delicious and healthy. I'll be in touch.
jeanasina says, Gina! First off - I'm so sorry you are having health issues (vision loss/headaches) and to hear about your mom. Talk about heavy news for you. I was at the same time so happy to read that my last review gave you moments of laughter! Clearly you need some uplifting soul euphoria! I also am constantly looking for a 'firming' kick-ass product! I will never get injections but I do like the idea of any type of cream/lotion/gel that would at least have the visual illusion of giving me more firmness on my face and especially my neck. I do try to keep an open mind and by the time I'm done with a tube/container of something it either knocked my socks off with results or I definitely wouldn't be purchasing it again. I'll ad your mom to my prayers. I hope this week finds you feeling and seeing better. Again, I love knowing I brought some joy to you day! I agree - I also have friends that use products that don't ring my bell at all.
finnanagan says, Hi there champion...Didn't want you to think I had forgotten you. Just been crazy busy. I swear I went from nothing to do to not enough hours in the day it seems. Hope you are feeling better. I am totally flattered that you think I resemble Michelle Phiffer (whatever her name is, there I go with the spellling again). Yes, I do have wrinkles. Mostly around my eyes, and on my forehead. I don't get enough rest, drink too much beer, and I started smoking again after I stopped breast feeding my son. His name is Slade, by the way. He will be 3 in January. I can't even believe it. I have headaches a lot too. Mine are from stress, no doubt and all of the above mentioned. You are welcome to send me anything. I wish I could figure out how to post more pictures on this site, so I could put some of my little man on there. He is beautiful and absolutely rotten... I will write more later when I don't have a little boy yammering in my ear and climbing up my legs...
ruthie says, sorry to hear you are in pain. take care and just keep checking in at megs makeup for some humor and hopefully pain relief! carol b
mjsred says, ...thinking of you with love and I know that your strength and faith will see you through.I lost my Dad to cancer as well and you're right,it plain out stinks! Please take care of yourself and know how very special you are to so many of us... Sending you hugs and smeary lipstick hankies to dry those tears!
vexy says, Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry. I know what that's like- last year, my sister was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. If there's anything I can do, you have my number and even if I can't get to the phone right away, I'll call you back as soon as I can. <3 I'll keep you in my prayers!
finnanagan says, Hey there...Sorry, I've been out of pocket for a week. My second cousin, whom I have only met within the last year, came to Arkansas to visit his mother and he took my best friend and I to Memphis and Tunica Mississippi, for a two day get-a-way. We had a blast. Then, I stayed a couple more days with my mother and step-dad, we took my son to the county fair. BAD IDEA!!! He didn't understand that he had to get off the rides when they stopped, he cried the whole time, it was a complete nightmare, but at least we tried....I hope all goes well with your doctor's appointment. I will write more later. My skin....lately feels old and tired. My fine lines are turning to WRINKLES. Lifestyle changes are definately in order, but not likely to happen any time soon. I'm lucky enough to have oily skin especially the T-zone area, however I do fight blackheads on a daily basis, but my main concern is wrinkles and sagging. I don't mind being 38, just don't want to look it.... Out of all my current girlfriends, I am the oldest, except for one who will be 50 in December. Makes it hard when I'm used to being the young one. They are all 26 to 34 with beautiful skin and faces. They say things like, "I just hope to look half as good as you when I'm your age." They mean well, however, I'm like, "wait a minute, I'm not that old...." but to them, I guess 38 does seem old. I would welcome anything you would want to send me just tell me what I need to do... couldn't wait to get back home and see what you were up to. I don't have any plans to leave town again for at least two more weeks so I'll be in touch. Love you, miss you.
finnanagan says, I feel terrible that we have been out of touch for a whole week. It's been CRAZY around here, as I'm sure with you. Just wanted to drop a quick note to let you know I'm thinking of you always. I will hopefully talk to you soon. Please send me an update when you have time. Also, can you please recommend a daytime drugstore moisterizer for me. as I am currently running out of the one I'm using, Garnier (here we go with spelling again) sun reverse, It's not that I don't like it, I just wondered if there was anything better, I'm currently paying $11 for it.
finnanagan says, Oh no champion, don't you worry a minute about making me sad. I love our conversations, you are the best thing that's happened to me in a long time. I know for a fact that God arranged for us to meet, he's funny that way, you know....It's just that's it's a holiday weekend and my husband is off work till tomorrrow and he doesn't help me at all with my son and everything else that goes along with this profession of mine. I hit the ground running Saturday and Sunday, and hit the pillow at about 3:30am this morning, It's now 9 am and the washing machine is already going. So, I wanted to be in the "right frame of mind" before I responded appropriately to your awesomely (is that a word?) written, beautifully spoken message. It touched me more than I can express. I am one of those emotionally "composed" hard asses, but you my friend, have helped me purge. Much needed BTW. Again, GOD...So keep me posted, and I'm still praying and thinking of you all the time. Tomorrow, things will be back to normal, thankfully. My son told me yesterday: "Mommy, I want Daddy to go to work." I said: "Mee too, baby, me too."
38goingon29 says, That is very heartbreaking news, and I am so sorry. I am also sorry about your eye issues, that must be extremely frustrating to deal with. I send my prayers and hope for the strength you need right now. Best to you and your Mom and big hugs, Jen
