Meg here! I am really thankful that Sharond sent this brilliant information that every woman that loves her fashion should know! I am unfortunately, pretty run down from my travels and nine loads of laundry so this piece came in the knock of time! Thanks Sharond! I learned a lot.
In the past I wrote an article about haute couture designers and which design houses are allowed to use the haute couture attached to their name. In this article I would like to explain what goes into creating a couture collection. I would like to emphasize that I am writing about couture designers only. I have not done enough research on other designers to know their methods and when their showings occur.
Twice a year, January and July, each couture house spends a fortune to make and present its collections, which has to be at least fifty designs though most houses do many more, to their most important clients, celebrities and the press. In the past the shows were a quiet affair mostly held in couture salons, however they have now become a theatrical extravaganza with loud music and lights.
The first phase of assembling a collection begins in the couturier’s design studio many months before the show. The couturier has a thorough understanding of human anatomy and the properties of fibers and fabrics and will begin with either the fabric or a silhouette. These must be compatible because of the combined qualities of fabric, its weight, drape, texture and hand, which is the fabric’s crispness or softness, will make it appropriate for some style of silhouettes and not others. If the designer is contemplating a sculpted look, he would want a tightly woven, crisp fabric and if he were looking for a soft flowing look following the curves of the body, he would choose a fabric with a soft hand.
Meg here! I AM HOME! I am in my bed-in my bedroom to be exact and I think Meg Heads would love my bedroom. You might not want it for your own but you would appreciate it! I am typing in my bed with my big pink tufted leather headboard. My furniture is all art deco and mirrored and I have Erte pictures framed on the wall. The color scheme is predominately black and white but there are strong pink influences. The pink chair at my 1940's inspired vanity. The rhinestone pink embossed hand mirror and gilded accessories. It is very Old Hollywood inspired and very girly and it is mine and I love it! When men see it they kind of roll their eyes. When girls see it they say "I LOVE this!" It appeals to every woman's inner Norma Desmond or Joan Crawford.
Goddess Granny and I were on the road and I was away from my little slice of pink heaven. I got to stay at the Goddess's amazing and sprawling Texan ranch. I got to see the beauty and feel the crisp Colorado Spring air of Sharond's wonderful mountainside home. What a fantastic host and entertainer she and her family were! Many thanks! Dallas was gorgeous. Yet-I am so glad to be home!
Sharond here! Karen726 made a comment on one of my reviews about how she disliked the overuse of packaging. I empathized with her and see it as such a waste of our precious natural recourses and worse, all the chemicals that go into the packaging material. Of all the packaging, I find that heavy plastic sandwiched between cardboard is the worse. I can not even begin to tell you how many finger nails I have broken, knives I have ruined, scissors I have had to buy because they broke trying to open a package and even going so far as avoiding to buy an item as I knew I would not be able to open it. When Karen726 made that comment, I knew I had to write about an item I found at Walgreen’s Drug Store on sale for under $10.00. This item is the OpenIt For Plastic Packaging & More by Zibra and has become the handiest tool in any drawer or glove box in our household. This product does not fall into the make-up category, but it will save your manicure.
The OpenIt is a scissor looking devise with angled offset jaws made of hardened and plated alloy steel. It has ergo handles covered in a hard rubber that can be used by either left or right-handed people, a retractable utility knife, and a removable Phillips and slotted mini screwdriver set all in one convenient package.
Meg here! I am exhausted and watching Chelsea Lately with Goddess Granny in our hotel room in Amarillo, Texas. We left Dallas today and our goal was to try to just get out of Texas-but um, have you seen the size of Texas? We have a couple more hours and then we should hit our goal of arriving in Colorado Springs tomorrow! We are off to see Sharond and take in the sights of beautiful Colorado.
Last night we had our Meg Head meet up and had a great time! Chelsea1 joined us and it was amazing to get to meet her in person! There mani's and massages and cocktails and apps and GIFT BAGS!

Meg here! I HATE WASTING CASH! We've all done it. Hello? I looked at the Garnier ads and thought "Well, if it's good enough for Carrie Bradshaw." Then I remind myself "No Meg, It is SJP playing Carrie Bradshaw and you just bought a pile of shit." The pile of shit being the garnier roller ball anti-puff device. Sue me, we hate it! But we really love the Carrie episode where she asks "Am I really the old woman that lives in a shoe?" She found out she spends more on shoes then, you know...A HOUSE! I mean, that's pretty much universal with the ladies I know.
Meg here! Get ready for spring! You know how much I love Urban Decay!I am so crazy for their new summer items this promo code could not have come at a better time!
Meg here! I am with Goddess Granny right now and we planning our trip to Dallas. I've been on the road doing some beauty segments and this past one was taped in St. Louis! I need to slow down my speech and stop talking with my hands but other then that I tried to get as much information out there as I could!
Dallas ladies don't forget about out DALLAS PARTY! It's the 6th at V Spa atThe Hilton Annatole Hotel 6-8! You're not going to want to miss it! Complimentary spa treatments, cocktails and apps! Oh yeah, did I mention the gift bags?
Vocation: Graphic designer, Photoshop is my best friend.
What is in your purse? I love BIG purses so I carry around LOTS of things, my iPhone, an Yves Rocher lip balm, a Dr. Ricaud hand cream, Chanel Candy glow lipgloss, leather gloves from ZARA, magazines, wallet, keys, bottle of water, passport...I pretty much put everything that can fit in my purse lol.
Guilty Pleasure: Nutella, this is the best chocolate thing in the world I eat it straight from the jar lol
Skin color, type and any special skin concerns: my skin is light with yellow undertones, in winter my it doesn't look so good, No sun for months is terrible for the skin at least for mine. Sun if you read me please come back I need you.
Beauty inspiration: Ok I won't be very original but like my friend Emylie, to me Marilyn Monroe is THE WOMAN, nobody will ever be prettier than her she was strong, beautiful, glamorous, independant, curvy and GORGEOUS. But if I had to pick a French inspiration it would be Brigitte Bardot, she was so pretty and sexy.
Meg here! Thanks so much on the "how to look well-rested" info a few posts back! I have A LOT of T.V. coming up. I'm in my Hilton in St. Louis right now getting ready for a spring segment tomorrow.
I go back to Texas tomorrow after this taping and have 3 more to tape there! It's great. TV helps get the word out on Megsmakeup.com! So even though I get nervous I know it has to be done. Why have dogs if you can't practice "morning news show" with them as the host? The problem is they always think I do a great job and don't really offer up any tips on how to improve.
I have a segment coming up and this is serious work! I need your brilliance and wisdom here. WHAT PRODUCT DID YOU WASTE MONEY ON?
Now is your chance to get revenge on the eyeliner that bleeds all over your face! The mascara that clumped so bad it looked like you had 3 eyelashes! The lipstick that was so drying your pucker was turned into a flaky chapped mess!!
BabyLove here! I realize that this next product isn't as glamorous as our usual items, but cleaning is an unfortunate part of life! Since we review so many bath items for our little ones, it seems only appropriate to post on a product that we use to clean our bathtubs. I'm sure you've seen Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day Shower Cleaner on a shelf in your local grocery store. If you aren't aware of their brand, you should make sure to check them out because they have a whole slew of safe household cleaning products. Made from mostly plant derived ingredients, essential oils, and safe synthetics, Mrs. Meyer's products contain no solvents, petroleum distillates, bleach, phosphates, or ingredients that could cause harsh fumes. Their website is incredibly honest, and interesting, and I found myself intrigued!
How many times have you cleaned your bathtub, filled it with water, and right when you're about to stick your kids in, freak out because you feel like maybe you didn't rinse it well enough? It's happened to me about a million times, and it's nice to finally have a little piece of mind. I hate the idea of getting a little cleaner on my hands, so I certainly wouldn't like the idea of bathing my children in chemically enhanced bath water. We take great pride in bathing our children with products that are safe, so why wouldn't we take pride in what we clean are homes with?
