More riveting testimonials concerning needles stuck into Jeanasina's ears and other parts..
Hey ladies! It's acupuncture woman - back for more needle in the haystack talk! (Me being the haystack here.) That's right, twice a week, I continue to show up at the Acupuncturist's office where I eagerly take off my socks, roll up my pants legs, and remove my watch. I leap up onto the doctor's table and watch my acupuncturist come towards me with his box of needles. I never know just how many needles he is going to stick into my my ears, hands, and legs but (call Ripley's!) I DO know that I'm going to be glad he is sticking them into ME!
I receive acupuncture, I take prescribed herbs, I drink a vitamin infused concoction twice a day and I am eating in an entirely new way! I'm doing a lot of Chinese cooking these days. I HATE to cook but I have this list of 'acceptable foods' and I just mix them up and make all kinds of crazy stir fry meals that are fantastic! All of these things are changing my life! The MOST amazing thing for me is...(wait for it)...for the last five weeks, I have NOT been binge eating even once! Up to this point, I pretty much did it every day at some point! I was starting to accept that maybe I couldn't stop! I always found a reason to do it again and then I'd start over the next day saying, “Maybe today I won't do it!” Well...I haven't done it in 5weeks! I also have not eaten anything after 8:00 at night! That's usually my 'strap-on-the-processed junk-food-feed-bag' time! This in itself is absolutely unheard of and spectacular for me! A GARGANTUAN achievement! Sometimes, I used to fall asleep at night on the couch and I'd wake up and instead of going to bed, I'd head for the kitchen! I'd look for 'junk food' to eat and then I'd graze and THEN I'd go to bed. Next morning – total BLOATED woman lying on the bed! Back to the good stuff..I also have stopped drinking coffee and I haven't had ANY sugar or sweets! Let me say again...FIVE WEEKS people! That's pretty much a miracle in my world to have achieved these things! So...I have to believe that there is TRUTH to the fact that Acupuncture can help you lose weight! Say it with me“Yippieeeeee!”
Did I mention that I haven't had ANY cakes, cookies, donuts, ice cream or various heavenly mouth watering delights? I recently went to get my hair done and part of my ritual is to get a cut and color and then go to the bakery and purchase a big-ass cupcake and then eat it in the car in the parking lot of the hair salon! This time...I just went home! I'm not saying I no longer want these treats but I've realized I feel better when I don't have these things! Even grocery shopping recently, I usually am compelled to purchase some yummy thing I see on the shelf and I walked right by my usual triggers!
I should tell you that part of the weight loss needle insertion is to help curb your appetite! It also helps with cravings! I wouldn't have believed it, not a chance with me, but...I'm winning more battles against my favorite non-healthy food choices than ever thought possible! Besides the acupuncture needle treatments, the acupuncturist carefully places these little bead like objects on various areas of your ears and when you are tempted to do something stupid like eat a turtle sundae and some cheese curds you press on those little beads and it helps tell your body that after all you are not interested! He changes the beads from side to side from week to week. If somebody notices them I just tell them I'm part of a secret society.
Do the needles hurt going in? Kinda sometimes...for about a second. And...sometimes, you feel this electrical type feeling 'zoom' down your arm or finger that makes your eyes open up as wide as fried eggs! But again, you are assured that the little 'zinger' will be gone in a moment and it always is. Mostly I don't really feel much – also why I don't scream much! I'd say I don't really feel 99% of the needles go in my skin.
One time I tried lifting up my arm with the needles in it – NOT A GOOD IDEA – that's when you actually FEEL the needles. I just lie perfectly still and relax and imagine how great I'm going to look soon!
I researched lots of diet plans: ie. Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem, Weight Watchers but I'm glad I decided to dive in and go for Acupuncture to lose weight. I can tell I'm getting myself back again, but slowly. This is not a 'quick' weight loss plan – but it's a healthy one. I'm learning an entirely new way to eat and it makes me feel great! I'm consuming more vegetables than I ever have before! Every now and again I'll stand in front of the mirror and think...”I'm still in there!” and I'll start to see the beginnings of the 'me' I'm hoping will emerge again from my overweight body when I complete my Acupuncture for Weight Loss adventure! So far I'm down 9 pounds! I'm excited! I purchased a treadmill! After 5 weeks of twice a week, I now go once a week.
I can't wait to see a new and better me, a more vibrant and healthy me jumping into my husband's arms and saying “Who wants to kiss me!?” The idea of him being able to hold me up off the ground is SO appealing!Whatever YOU do to stay healthy and to give your body and mind a high quality of health – then that's exactly the right plan for you! Getting healthy is a gift to your body, but also to your life! What do YOU do to stay healthy and feel wonderful that doesn't involve spending an afternoon at an all-you-can-eat waffle palace?
This is a re-post because My Solemate is now available on AMAZON! This is an AMAZING PRODUCT and FANTASTIC STOCKING (get it) Stuffer!
Meg here! I'm just watching the Grammy's and building myself an egg to incubate in. I hope you all had a great weekend!
This next product is wonderful for someone who's Indian name would be "Chief Stinkfoot." No, really. In Los Angeles, everyday is strappy heel day. When we're not running around in strappy heels we're running around barefoot. It's a weird mish-mash of casual living and back breaking stiletto's.
I'm guilty of it, I have judged people by the shape of their tootsies. There are few things as off putting as chipped polish, dry cracked feet or toe callouses. I mean, I just threw up in my mouth a little bit typing that.
I stay on top of it. I go get a mani-pedi 2x a month but I honesty hate having my feet touched. I also hate that weird cheese grater/knife contraption that my pedicurist asks "Callous removal?" It's an extra $5 on top off it. I'm lucky because now I can reply "I don't need it."
As with every single problem in life, prevention is key. You're in the shower everyday anyhow so why not take care of your footsies with my solemate? I use my lemongrass one everyday and "Chief Stinkfoot" has left the building. Picture a bar of soap backed by a handy piece of plastic. That's the first part. The second part is a pumice that snaps onto the other side. So it's a dual tool that gently exfoliates off dead skin. It gets rid of callouses and cracks and it prevents new ones from appearing. Once I'm all pumiced I then lather up with the refreshing lemongrass scented soap. Easy as 1-2-3 and I'm in no fear of impromptu walks on the beach!
Here's what My Solemate says "infused with shea butter, aloe, and vitamin E complimented with our unique pumice nourishes and exfoliates feet safely and effectively. The two in one component saves time and money, providing for less trips to the nail salon which can cost up to $60 for a pedicure. The refillable soap cartridge is a great feature that saves money too so you don’t have to buy a new pumice stone every time your soap runs out! Choose from two amazing scents Lemongrass and Silk Blossom. Works great on hands and elbows too!"
Another wonderful idea I didn't come up with!
What tricks do you have for keeping your feet open toe ready?
Hi everybody! Jeanasina here! I have been incognito for about a year. When I lost my job I kind of lost myself. During the long period of time that I stopped writing here on Megs, I pretty much turned to my best friend (FOOD) for comfort, for pretty much everything! I love food! My ideal weight is pretty much 135; but I'm 62 years old and the old metabolism has definitely left the building and just after Christmas I was up to 167 pounds! I kept buying bigger and bigger jeans and my last pair was a size 18. I'm only 5'4” so that's a lot of weight for me. I needed to do something to get myself back again. This is about my journey to do just that.
I'm doing something I never thought I'd do! I'm getting Acupuncture! To Lose Weight! First off...I'm not a big needle fan. For years I equated 'shots or needles' with 'FAINTING'. Here comes a needle, here comes my head hitting the pavement! I remember a friend telling me about getting Acupuncture and the mere 'mind image' of what my friend probably looked like with dozens of needles sticking all over her....well frankly – I absolutely didn't want to go there! I remember sticking my fingers in my ears singing “LALALALALALA” really loud so I wouldn't hear her descriptions of the procedure.
I was pondering every diet plan endorsement I watched on TV. Then one day, out of no-where I thought the word "Acupuncture!" I looked at the Ba-zillion reviews for Acupuncture places and came to one that appeared to me to be the 'real deal'. I made an appointment and got a 'consultation'. The actual Acupuncturist I see is a man. He's tall and lean and very purposeful. The clinic is very spiritual and there is no laughing going on. But I wasn't there to have fun, I went there to seek help. The acupuncturist answered all my questions like “IS THIS GOING TO HURT BAD?” He calmly mentioned that several Acupuncture needles could fit into the eye of a needle! Then he stuck one in his hand while I watched and his look pretty much said "Look! I feel no pain!" He made it look effortless!!! Still, I was not compelled to yell out.."Let me try it!".
Acupuncture for Weight Loss is not cheap! It's also not covered by insurance! You gotta REALLY want it! The acupuncturist told me he thought he could help me to lose weight and to STOP binge eating and to STOP overeating! Yes! I am admitting this! I do these things! Food has always been the one constant that makes me feel good while I'm eating it! So often food helps me get through being somewhere I don't want to be or especially if I'm stressed! I described to my acupuncturist ALL the goodies that I crave constantly! We talked about cake and cookies and chocolate and ice cream and Hostess Snowballs! Did I really want this guy to FIX my total enjoyment of those foods? Oh! And my love of eating vats of popcorn smothered in real butter! It definitely wasn't going to be easy... Could I really have a lovely thick piece of chocolate cake with chocolate frosting in front of me and not EAT IT! I really couldn't imagine NOT needing to consume any of those things! Sometimes those very treats are the best part of my day! I thought to myself, wouldn't it be cool, if after I got Acupuncture, every time I saw a malted milk shake or a frosted cake donut, that I'd picture myself drinking a vat of lard or biting into a rubber dog toy? That's not how it works...but I was hoping! It would make it SO much easier to not want to eat processed JUNK!
As Mandy Ingber of Yogalosophy says..."I want my body to feel as good as it possibly can!" I would LOVE to feel that about my own body! I am coming to realize that, this is exactly what acupuncture is all about! Making your body feel as good as it possibly can!
In the meantime...I go twice a week and the good Doctor of Acupuncture calmly sticks needles into and around my ears and in my arms and hands and in my legs. Not once have I screamed! The needles are NOTHING compared to getting a tattoo! It's a walk in the park in case you were wondering about that!
I never fall asleep during my session but I think a lot of other people who enjoy resting in a serene environment for 30-40 minutes with their eyes closed do! Then there is the part later that day when you feel inexplicably happy!! You go around actually telling people that you are HAPPY!! You feel that good! They say that this is like a runner's high - after experiencing it I wish I had started running when I was young! No wonder all those people KEEP running over and over, year after year! Anyway...the up feeling you get sometimes from Acupuncture is pretty great! I spent an entire day recently, after an appointment, filled with energy! I actually told my husband I'd shovel(something I never ever do!) and I did the entire driveway and yard and then I did it again the next day! It's really exhilarating to feel SO good that you want to USE your body and dance or walk or jump or something that involves doing something with the wonderful energy you are feeling!
My acupuncturist told me that my liver is very 'wet'. "Wet" is not a good thing in Acupuncture! "Picture a humid dank swamp." he said to me. That's how my liver is. I'm a woman running around with a muck filled sopping wet liver inside my body! Not good I'm thinking! He explained about the need for 'chi' to be able to move around and is helping me create a healthy body.
There's a lot more to it than that, but I thought I'd see if anyone was interested to know more about how it works and what I'm doing.
I'm making changes – I am hopeful that they will make a change in me! Well that's it for today. I have more to tell if any of you are interested!
Baby Love here! There are so many things that I love about this next line of products from TruKid! It might be my new absolute favorite children’s line. TruKid is awesome, affordable, 100% safe, and did I mention awesome?
Jennifer Bunker Adams, a working mother of 6……wait, did I just type “a working mother of 6?” Let me double check this. Oh thank god, she was actually a working mother of 5 with another one on the way. I feel so much better about myself now. Looking for ways to protect her own children’s skin, TruKid was born out of necessity and out of a need to fill a major market gap in non-toxic products suitable for young kids and their delicate skin. As a result, all of TruKid’s products are BPA, phthalate, SLS, paraben, 1-4 Dioxane (a group 2B carcinogen), and Gluten free. 100% natural and certified organic, the Environmental Working Group recently gave TruKid’s entire line a safety rating of 0-3.
We were so luck to receive a full round up of Jennifer’s most popular items. Our reviewers got a chance to use TruKid’s Silly Shampoo, Cool Condition, Bubbly Body Wash, Friendly Face Wash, Dancing Detangler (running out of breath), and Sunny Days SPF 30 sunscreen. Even the packaging of this line is amazing. Each bottle has a unique learning system, coding each bottle with a picture of the part of the body the product is intended for! William absolutely loved this. He could flex his “big brother muscles,” and instruct Calum on exactly how to use each different item. For the first time ever, I could actually leave my products lying around since the boys had absolutely no interest in using them.
So aside from the packaging being superbly genius, these products worked beautifully. William, aka walking rash, had no reaction from this line. The shampoo and the conditioner left the boy’s hair soft and shiny, and even in the dead of this awful New England weather, the body and face wash did a great job at keeping their skin moisturized. I always love the look of really shiny, clean little kid hair. It’s got that shimmer that you just can’t get back!
We were on vacation in Mexico last week, I had a great opportunity to use the Sunny Days SPF 30 sunscreen stick. It was perfect for the nose, lips, ears. I will definitely be carrying this with me on future vacations, and onto the sports field this Summer. I love that it can easily be slipped into your pocket or pocketbook! It lasted hours in the water, and I loved that I could clearly see where I had used the stick.
I don’t have girls to use the detangler on, but I did put it in my hair after I got out of the pool and ocean while on vacation. I used it as sort of a leave in conditioner, and it worked wonders. My hair was soft and manageable even after hours in the sun and salt water. I have to confess that I used the entire bottle.
What I loved most about TruKid, and what really surprised me the most, was the line’s scent. As we’ve seen with so many organic lines, the products have a history of smelling pretty average. TruKid’s line, however, smells like a mix of grapefruit and orange, and maybe even a hint of lavender. It leaves an all over smell that keeps both boys smelling great, even when they’re really not and in a serious need for a shower.
For all you mom’s with children with really, really sensitive kids, TruKid has a newly released super sensitive line that is definitely worth taking a look at. www.trukid.com, has all the information and products any mom who is serious about protecting her kid’s skin will be interested in. As a special for megsmakeup.com subscribers, Jennifer is offering 20% all orders of $30 with code megs20 (good until February 14). I love the 3 pack supplies, and have my eye on the super sensitive body lotion!

For those of you who don't know...Sweetassgal is in Human Resources as my daily living. One of the least fun aspects of HR is dealing with sensitive subjects about employees offending other employees. In the last 15 years I have counseled people about their bad breath, body odor, feminine odor, public farting, hocking loogies and once...hand to god...masturbating. These are never easy conversations to have and I usually spend quite a bit of time finding the most sensitive way to let the person know what it is about them personally that is offending everyone. So I found it completely hysterical the other day when I sat down behind my daughter on the couch to do her hair for a wedding when she gasped "Momma...your feet STINK!" I had been wearing flats and of course I was embarrassed but at the same time I had to laugh at her candid and SO NOT HR way of dealing with telling me about my offending peds. No PC euphemisms or gentle hints...just straight to "your feet stink!" Kids are honest!
Being the sensitive and previously self aware person that I am (and continued flat wearer as well) I immediately went in to researching foot care odor prevention. Funky Odor Eaters for my shoes and stinky medicated powders did not appeal to me so off to the health food store I went to see what I could find. The first thing that caught my eye was a foot care line with Tea Tree Oil in it. I am a HUGE fan of Tea Tree Oil for a variety of ailments and I personally love the scent so I grabbed up the foot spray and took it home to try it out. Thursday Plantation Essential Care Tea Tree Foot Spray promises to deodorize, cool and freshen your tootsies and considering the fact that my feet are usually the temperature of the sun I found the cooling promises to be intriguing. I wore my stinkiest non-breathing leather flats all day and really worked up a good funk to test this baby out. So how did it fare?
First off let me say that I must attest to the straight nastiness of today's particular foot odor. I'm talking pre-teen boy who still refuses to shower and wears the same socks until they stand up on their own kind of foulness. It was epic. I slipped my shoes off under my desk for less than a minute and was forced to spray a little air freshener lest someone come by my office and think I'm smuggling limburger cheese in my shoes. Once I got home I didn't bother to wash my feet or even towel them off. I went straight from flats to spray. I can tell you it was nicely cooling and refreshing. I could feel a little tingle and enjoyed the cooling effect as the spray dried on my feet. This particular brand was very pungent and the Tea Tree Oil scent immediately filled the room (which was better than the scent that was lingering before). I personally really like it but my husband did not like the scent one bit. I think he'd have preferred I left my feet funky. But I like the scent of tea tree and it didn't bother me at all. I gave it a few minutes and went in for the final test. Foot to nose test.
I'm pretty limber for my age and got my whole foot right up to my schnoz and gave it one heck of a whiff. I have to say the odor was completely gone and my feet had not a trace of offensive odiferousness. A few hours later I went back for a follow up sniff and still fresh as a daisy! Can you imagine being a fly on the wall in my house that day? What's wrong with this crazy lady and why does she keep smelling her own feet??!! One drawback to the product...I believe this could be drying if over used and that could be a minus if you have dry or cracked feet. So I will monitor my use and only bring it out when I've been wearing flats and need a little refreshing. Especially if my daughter is around. Lord knows there won't be any sugar coating with warning #2. I can just hear it now. "Momma...REALLY? Your feet still stink!" Ah kids...out of the mouths of babes.
Thursday Plantation Essential Care Tea Tree Foot Spray was just $4 at my local health food store for a 1.69 ounce spray bottle. I used about three sprays per foot and that was more than enough to do the job. With just a few simple and natural ingredients my foot woes were solved and I'm now stinky feet free! I guess it was a good lesson from my daughter and one I should have tuned in to myself considering how many times I was on the giving end of the difficult conversation. The bottom line is, no matter how great our hair looks, how perfectly applied the makeup or how stunning the outfit...if your dogs stink to high heaven no one is going to want to get near you! So keep wearing your cutest flats and keep a bottle of Tea Tree Oil foot spray nearby just in case you get invited to a game of beneath the table footsies! GLAM ON!
What remedies have you tried to keep the stink foot at bay?
Baby it's COLD outside in much of the U.S.! I know many have heaps of snow as well so although it's still sunny and fairly mild here in South Texas, Goddess Granny is packing to go North. I'm actually staring at a pile of gear fit for the frigid: reindeer-motif sweaters, chunky lined boots, heavy knit scarves and gloves and of course, a full length mink to insure that I literally won't crack and die from the temperatures in my near future! Seriously, my skin hates the cold and I'm gearing up both mentally and physically with every oil, cream and balm the damn TSA will allow me to carry. My suitcase actually has more tubs of goo packed inside than apparel at this point...priorities.
A MUCH needed and VERY appreciated product came to my rescue last week in the form of something SO totally delicious and decadent that I literally would cover myself in a tub of it and lay there for hours if I could! The beautiful people at "Farmhouse Fresh" located right here in Texas have yet again hit it out of the ballpark with their latest potion: a luscious and extravagantly elegant new cream named "Hello!"
"Hello!" is a yellow shea butter cream that's lightly scented with natural vanilla and citrus oils and they say it's their "happiest cream!" Do you know that the integrity and freshness of a product is MUCH enhanced by a glass container? Hello! comes in a fat 10 oz. glass jar that just feels SO rich in the hand! Adorable "jumping on the bed" graphic on the box that would get a smile from anyone! I wanted to literally EAT this stuff when I saw the texture: like that of the whipped cream I make using tons of real heavy-cream and a Kitchen Aid mixer and beating until it's almost stiff? Sorta' like heaps of pristine snow that you want to dive into? Seriously, it's just perfection!
Vitamin E, Jojoba and Soybean oils insure that even THE driest, most sensitive to the cold skin like mine will be soothed, scented, healed and spoiled! It doesn't take a lot of product to cover lots of you and I can't get enough of it! It leaves you so soft and silky and also gives a beautiful healthy shine to the skin but sinks right in and you know it's doing wonderful things because you can see the difference immediately! They claim it "...transports you to a warm beach with the sun on your face" and I'd have to say it really DOES leave you feeling like you're exactly where you'd like to be no matter what the temperature outside says! Clean and slightly sweet scent-nothing too heavy but enough so you feel completely satisfied.
Everything "Farmhouse Fresh" makes is PERFECT for gift-giving and I have to say that the value for the price continues to suprise me: I don't think you could find better products that are so reasonable and so amazing! Of course, they have been on Oprah's List but more importantly, they are at the top of mine! Everytime I try a new product from this fabulous company, I wish for a lifetime supply of it! You simply can't go wrong with anything they make and "Hello!" would be SO perfect for anyone on your list and yourself too, of course!
Buy it here and seriously be prepared to swoon: I get hungry just reading their product descriptions!
I am spooning out some of my "Hello!" cream into plastic jars to insure that the TSA cannot confiscate my gorgeous cream because if they knew how divine it is, they would take it for sure! I can't be without this amazing cream and once you dip into a jar, you won't be either!
Have you tried any of the delicious "Farnhouse Fresh" goodies? Do you also love to slather on a thick, yummy cream this time of year?
Love to all and I wish everyone the brightest and most beautiful Holidays ever!
Okay family of Meg's...Sweetassgal's going to make this a very simple review. Buy this product! The San Francisco Bath Salt Company's Re-usable Eco Friendly Bamboo Jar and Bath Salts is by far the most intriguing and all out fabulously fun thing I've received ALL year!
There is not ONE thing I don't love about this product. The minute you see the incredible packaging you know you are in for the treat of a lifetime. The bamboo jar is gorgeous! The finish is so soft and smooth...it feels like expensive teak furniture and I can't stop touching it. I had to laugh when my sister compared it to one of those old fashioned wood hot tubs. So cute but not to be outdone by the little bamboo scoop attached to it for dispensing the salts. It's adorable! The container is sealed by a silver toned canister style clasp that really keeps the contents air tight. Upon opening you immediately see the generous 22 ounce size of bath salts glistening up at you. And these aren't your typical bath salts...all coarse and uneven. These are beautiful crystal like cuts of bath salts that glitter and gleam and smell like eucalyptus and peppermint!
Into the bath they go and the scent just fills the entire bathroom. I love this choice in salts for the holiday season. The peppermint is festive and the eucalyptus really opens your nasal passages allowing the aroma therapeutic properties to tickle your senses. You know something is great when you continuously breathe in deeper and deeper just trying to fill your lungs with the sensation...even to the point where you know you just might pass out if you don't stop! But you can't...because it's incredible. Sinking into the tub I was continuously rubbing the softened water all over me luxuriating in the richness of the experience. My skin is so soft and I smell so fresh that I want to go roll in my sheets so the scent can stay in my nose all night long!
Their website has wonderful descriptions for the tub, it's materials and the myriad of uses and right now they are on sale and guaranteed to be delivered if ordered by the 20th. At $21.95 for a beautiful, reusable tub and salt scent of your choice this is absolutely the BEST thing you can buy for yourself and for that hard to buy person who has everything. It's so well made, such high quality and is the kind of gift that looks WAY more expensive than it really is!

I am in love with my tub of salts and I can't wait to try more scents. I don't think I could ever get through all of their options available. Signature, natural and custom blends are just the tip of the iceberg and I'll have to figure out which of them I'll try first to buy my sister her very own tub. She's already called dibs on my tub when I'm done with the salts but that was before I knew it was refillable! Looks like she's going to need one of her own. This will be my go to gift for a while and I know you would love it as well. It's holiday shopping crunch time and this is the answer to your shopping woe's! Shop on and GLAM ON!
Bath: the original "sense" of the word in many origins appears to come from the phrase "to warm or a place of warmth"Goddess Granny really likes this thought and will add that to me personally,a bath is my therapy, my excuse to indulge, (okay, one of them!) A way to heal, nourish, or sooth my body and soul depending on what I add to the water! I have a large 3-tiered shelf of potions, lotions, concoctions, and scents ranging from a humble bag of detoxifying Epsom salts for aches and pains to a few products I only use here and there because they are SUCH an indulgence! Etsy satisfies my hand-crafted product needs and if it floats or dissolves, lathers or bubbles you can bet I will love it! My husband actually added an addition to our home just so I could have the bathtub of my dreams! He knows I am a sweeter, saner, person after a bath. I guess he figured it'd be a small price to pay, HA!
Sea salts are a gift from nature and found in many forms and places:the minerals are perfect for soothing and healing the skin and also for replenishing much needed nutrients and yes, minerals! They are many kinds and ways to use and the really cool folks at the "San Francisco Bath Salt Company" have pretty much zeroed in on and make available the bath salts of my and maybe your dreams! Since 1999, this delightful company has focused on the powers of salts to relieve stress, renew the skin, sooth achy muscles and in general have become the best at the biz of bath salts anywhere to be found! Their 24 "flavors" of Artisan bath salts are sold in San Francisco and online and you and literally can buy anything from a small amount to enough to start your own line of products as they also sell in bulk and have several types of salts to choose from. The company supplies many top spas with their products as well as producing their own and "private label" lines of soothing goodness for the tub!
I was TOTALLY blown away when I opened my San Francisco Bath Salts scented with "Acai Berry Infusion": the bamboo tub itself is literally "art for your bathroom." The picture simply doesn't do it justice: it's smooth and silky in feeling and heft, has THE cutest little wooden scoop attached. It is refillable as well as being environmentally sustainable in it's presentation! Bamboo is great in protecting the beautiful salts within without any moisture retention which might cause swelling of the product...It looks SO nice near the tub and believe me, looks a LOT more elegant and special than the price would have one believe because it looks so VERY expensive and chic, very Euro-spa and luxurious! Charming "belly band" with an adorable mermaid-motif announces the scent of the contents and there are quite a few to choose from...the site is REALLY delightful to browse and I learned a lot about bath salts because that IS what they focus on-in every imaginable form!
My "Bamboo Jar with Signature Salts" contained 22 oz. of citrusy-sweet Acai-Berry scented crystals and I was just DYING to dump some into hot water and have a good soak: only a few handfuls are enough to release the luscious scent which really lingers and the water felt so soft, silky, and soothing! I loved the luxury of it all! The scent revived me and made me happy, my skin felt clean, soft, and rejuvenated when I FINALLY got out. These guys have sure got it dialed in when it comes to the art and soul of bathing with their salts. You couldn't possibly find another brand that would offer as much for as little!
This GORGEOUS bamboo container filled with luscious salts comes lovingly boxed and labeled and you simply cannot beat the price PLUS all of the bamboo-containers are currently on sale as well! I want the San Francisco Bath Salt Co. to send that truck of theirs to Texas and literally deliver me enough sweet-salty goodness for a lifetime because I won't ever be able to go back to "wanna' be" or artificially scented bath salts again! There is a huge difference in the quality and naturally charming scents they use. Your skin will thank you for the experience. This is without a doubt, one of THE most perfect gifts for anyone and everyone on your list and you can choose from muscle soaking, cold and flu relieving, lavender relaxing, green-tea infused skin treating, and SO many more wonderful choices!
Just perfect by means!
Believe it or not, they keep their shipping rates VERY low which is a huge incentive for me to buy these days and you can check out all of their delicious and quite well-known salty-treasures here!
I absolutely LOVE this product and fully intend to keep my self stocked with San Francisco Bath Salts from now on! Do you too believe in the powers of a long, hot soak in the tub? One of my true pleasures and by the way- I'm having to HIDE this container from my husband, he thinks these salts are exceptional too!
Sweetassgal checking in on the first shopping Tuesday of the month bringing you all things perfectly lovely this holiday shopping season that you can gift with a clean conscience. I must confess that I am an old soul. Always have been. Even as a child I would turn down new gadgets and technical gizmos in favor of old fashioned adornments and novelties. I'm the kind of person who would walk down the street with a lace parasol and use a monogrammed hankie if it wouldn't cause my loved one's to think I've gone straight off the beam. I love old fashioned things like fountain pens and personalized stationary, wide brimmed hats with silk flowers, silver tea sets and lace linens.
So I was giddy as a school girl when I discovered a true treasure in my mail wrapped with black ribbon and cased in a beautiful white and gold gilded tin. The letters MOR shone up to greet me from the top of the box and I knew there was something exquisite tucked within. I was MOR (get it?) than right. Upon opening bountiful belladonna, luscious feijoa lime and whimsical white hydrangea wafted up to greet my nose. Three MOR scented Emporium soap bars have been gifted to me individually wrapped in Victorian inspired paper and ribbon, finished with an old fashioned seal of the MOR insignia. This is a tiny treasure trove of old world bounty and my visual stimulation was matched only by my anticipation of touching these little "remnants of 17th century decadence". Triple-milled, hand crafted and never tested on animals I knew my journey back to a time of bygone opulence via the world of MOR soaps would be a true luxury.
Belladonna can be loosely translated to "beautiful woman" in italian and judging by the scent of this intoxicating soap I can't imagine any woman not feeling like the sweetest and softest creature on earth. MOR describes..."Belladonna fragrance is a Spring symphony of White Narcissus, Moroccan Rose and Pink Tulips enlivened with a sparkling mist of Meyer Lemon. Finally it is sweetened with a touch of French Cassis, Sandalwood, Vanilla and Musk to leave a trace of tender warmth." This is a scent like no other. It's feminine without being too flowery, it's elegant without coming across as stale and it's lightly sweet without being sickeningly so. It's a crossroads of everything elegant and charming in a lovely embossed bar of triple-milled indulgence. Just holding this in your hand makes you want to tuck it away like a precious gem so you never have to see it's loveliness melt away. "Fresh and Fruity Feijoa flits with a blend of Candied Citrus, Pear Blossom and Apple Leaf, leaving the warm base of Vanilla to balance this delectable fragrance" is the description given my MOR to its second offering of the collection. True to my most favorite scents (those being citrus and fruits) I am completely obsessed with this soap. I don't even feel that using the word "soap" is an adequate description. Infused with Vitamin E and Shea Butter, this is more of a moisturizing skin soak in bar form. The richness of the soap is so lush that I find myself searching the website for anything Feijoa and Lime scented to accent my home with. I can only hope they'll extend this scent to a collection of home products such as candles and old fashioned scented drawer sheets so I can experience the invigoration every time I open my lingerie drawer. I'm in heaven and this will absolutely be a repeat buy for me.
Our final treat is the White Hydrangea scented soap and is truly the most romantic and and elegant of the trio. I'm immediately put in mind of afternoons on the veranda drinking a cool glass of tea, lounging in white wicker chairs, and letting the scent of the nearby garden tickle your nose. According to MOR this is soap is "Juicy Melon and a bouquet of White Flowers mingle with Musk to embody a majestic Summer afternoon in this unique fragrance" which tells me I was right in my analysis! I am going to tuck this baby away until the dull of winter has driven my skin to boredom and then I can release it with this incredibly fresh smelling treat.
MOR has a perfect handle on the luxurious, opulent and decadent market. Everything is a feast for the senses. The look of the elegant packaging, the intoxication of the scents, the feel of well made products, the "ooh and ahh" sounds you make as you discover each bar...everything short of how it might taste should you get the notion (please don't). The beauty is in the details, the painstakingly well thought out presentation, the indulgence artistically crafted product. MOR has done an incredible job of bringing together three simple soaps and making them into more than just a gift tin...but a delightful showpiece of distinction and class just waiting to be given to someone special this holiday. Just one warning...you'll find this so lovely you won't want to give it away! Better get one for yourself too!
GLAM ON! What era do you thing you were supposed to be born in and my GOD TRY MOR!! It is fabulous!
I am freaking out that it's already mid-November: it's like time speeds UP a the end of the year and try as I might, I can't get my brain and feet to catch up! Goddess Granny feels the stress like everyone else although I tend to hide it under an extra layer of mascara whenever possible...
We all have our unique ways of "coping" and some tend to rather creative: I for one am looking forward to an afternoon with my glam-girl friends drinking wine in a dark theater watching two AMAZING diva's in "Burlesque!" Who cares if the movie may not have an award-winning script? The makeup, costumes and sets alone will inspire me for months! I also tend to bake cupcakes and bask in the tub more this time of year!
Some I know LOVE to have a "spa day" and while I have sampled what spas have to offer in many places with many ways to spoil and encourage relaxation! !I am still torn as to whether or not I love the process. It's great to go with a group and really indulge for an afternoon but I find that's a "party" and not relaxing and I won't even get into the cost. My favorite "spa" in the US is near my small hometown and it's rated among the very best if you can believe it!
One of the things I love most about this place besides the breathtaking grounds and gorgeous interior is that they offer "specials" for some of their amazing spa-services that INCLUDE all taxes and gratuities and I think it's brilliant: I get TOTALLY stressed out when some spas hand you a selection of tiny envelopes for "gratuities" after I'm stripped naked and who wants to do math in your head when you're supposed to be relaxing?
So, for the most part unless I get to indulge with some of my favorite people! When I'm not visiting NY, I do my own "spa services" at home: with everything available, it's really easy and the results can and do rival some treatments I have paid way too much for in the past.
We adore Zakia's here at Megsmakeup.com and I'll tell you why: this company is committed to the beautiful products they offer !The owners are lovely people and their products which include the amazing original "Argan Oil" (you NEED some of this during the winter months-trust me!) are held to the highest possible standards of organic purity. They continue to support women's co-ops and provide jobs as well as promote the social-responsibility of sustaining their resources in their native Morocco! I am a ridiculous fan of the Argan Oil and shampoos and now I have yet ANOTHER incredible Zakia's product on my list of favorites! They also love Meg's back and we are very thankful for their support.
"Moroccan Black Soap" sounds rather mysterious doesn't it? Based on the traditional and centuries-old "Hamman" spa treatments the gorgeous woman of Morocco have held dear for centuries, this is a unique and absolutely INCREDIBLE way to indulge yourself a bit right in the privacy of your own bathroom! It is a cleansing treatment-soap named "BELDI", a 100% natural plant product that is naturally rich in in vitamin E and has the restorative powers to regenerate your skin like nothing else! It removes toxins and I can't imagine what it might cost to experience this sort of luxury-treatment in an actual spa! It's low-lathering and can be used to cleanse but that's not the "best" way to reap the benefits. They refer to it as a "wondrous body treatment" and it really is so here's how you use it...
Prep with a couple of towels, maybe a book, music, and some wine or other beverage: get yourself all warm and moist in a shower or bath first( I soak in a hot tub,s urprise, surprise!) Get out and smear this creamy, earthy-smelling, beautifully-textured "soap" all over yourself including your face...Yes, it's a bit messy but who cares? Wrap yourself up and let it set for 10 minutes or so...I sit on my tuffet and read while it works it's magic. Now rinse it off and scrub all over with a loofa (kassa) which releases ALL the toxins and gets rid of every single dry flaky skin cell. Rinse once more and MARVEL at yourself: I felt like Cleopatra prepping for a hot night on the barge when I did this and it's very much worth the time and effort involved for such professional "spa-like" results!
I wish I had the time and enough "Moroccan Black Soap" to do this every single day...I LOVE the smell, it's primal and organic! More importantly, my skin felt like buttered- satin with less effort than I expected! This is one helluva' way to relax and rejuvenate and you don't have to worry about "gratuities" and/or how you look waddling around a spa in paper slippers. I felt a difference in my skin for days after using it so it was time well invested!
I can see how this, maybe combined with some other bath goodies and a pretty towel would make THE perfect gift for anyone who has everything! I love this company and am proud to be able to write such glowing reviews about their incredible products! EVERYTHING they make is superior! DON'T FORGET 30% OFF EVERYTHING WITH CODE MEGS2000! Do you also love to indulge in your own "home-spa" or do you prefer to leave it to the pros?
