This is a re-post because My Solemate is now available on AMAZON! This is an AMAZING PRODUCT and FANTASTIC STOCKING (get it) Stuffer!
Meg here! I'm just watching the Grammy's and building myself an egg to incubate in. I hope you all had a great weekend!
This next product is wonderful for someone who's Indian name would be "Chief Stinkfoot." No, really. In Los Angeles, everyday is strappy heel day. When we're not running around in strappy heels we're running around barefoot. It's a weird mish-mash of casual living and back breaking stiletto's.
I'm guilty of it, I have judged people by the shape of their tootsies. There are few things as off putting as chipped polish, dry cracked feet or toe callouses. I mean, I just threw up in my mouth a little bit typing that.
I stay on top of it. I go get a mani-pedi 2x a month but I honesty hate having my feet touched. I also hate that weird cheese grater/knife contraption that my pedicurist asks "Callous removal?"It's an extra $5 on top off it. I'm lucky because now I can reply "I don't need it."
As with every single problem in life, prevention is key. You're in the shower everyday anyhow so why not take care of your footsies with my solemate? I use my lemongrass one everyday and "Chief Stinkfoot" has left the building. Picture a bar of soap backed by a handy piece of plastic. That's the first part. The second part is a pumice that snaps onto the other side. So it's a dual tool that gently exfoliates off dead skin. It gets rid of callouses and cracks and it prevents new ones from appearing. Once I'm all pumiced I then lather up with the refreshing lemongrass scented soap. Easy as 1-2-3 and I'm in no fear of impromptu walks on the beach!
Here's what My Solemate says "infused with shea butter, aloe, and vitamin E complimented with our unique pumice nourishes and exfoliates feet safely and effectively. The two in one component saves time and money, providing for less trips to the nail salon which can cost up to $60 for a pedicure. The refillable soap cartridge is a great feature that saves money too so you don’t have to buy a new pumice stone every time your soap runs out! Choose from two amazing scents Lemongrass and Silk Blossom. Works great on hands and elbows too!"
Another wonderful idea I didn't come up with!
What tricks do you have for keeping your feet open toe ready?
Meg here! I have a fantastic deal for you that is going to make you swoon! Swoon, I say! First off, I saw a Facebook Meme thing that said "Good News! Only 10 more Fridays until Christmas!" Seriously. We're Still breaking 85 degrees over here and they're already pushing holiday.
First of all, I've been using it everyday and I've hardly made a dent in it. It's massively huge. You could use it everyday and still pass it on to your daughter. (Side note-I don't recommend that as it's probably a health hazard but you could.)
The colors are marbleized so you can get a million different looks from each individual shadow. The colors also go on wet or dry! I've been able to also create some nice liner looks with this.
The quality is fantastic and the colors really stay put! The price is a very inexpensive $40. Really, for $40 you have about every color combination you would need ALL YEAR. This product lasts as well as some designer eye shadow duo's (read-two colors for the 2 of you that don't know what a duo is) that I've shelled out for in the past. In closing. You need this...
Off topic, I am friends with all the original Beauty Bloggers (and a bunch of the newbies but I can't be friends with all of the newbies since there is like a million of them.) I was one of the originals that started this whole "Beauty Blogging" deal and how I'm not rich or famous I'll never know. Anyhow, do you know the fabulous Amber Katz? She has a fantastic site called Rouge18. I'm sure you've heard of it! It is fantastic. Anyhow, Amber and I are facebook friends and I saw this picture of her and supermodel Cara Delevingne. You would think I would be into what Delevingne was wearing. I wasn't. I was immediately drawn to the jacket that Katz was wearing. I had to have it! I knew it was probably a "dream item" it was clearly a Chanel.
I immediately messaged Amber "Where did you get that quilted jacket?"
From the same mark. that I was planning on writing this eye palette review on. In a span of 24 hours I can now say I am OBSESSED with at least two "must have" items from their site! The price on that Chanel inspired jacket? $56 (or less than two Chanel lipsticks.)
As soon as I was turned on to that find, I spent the next hour clicking through the site and filling up my shopping cart. I am so happy with the quality of my mark. cosmetics, I'm sure I'll be just as happy with the quality of the new jacket I have coming! I mean, Amber knows her stuff!
Check out the mark. site and have great time perusing. I dare you not to start filling a cart. When you do! Make sure that mark. Eye Dream of Glam Ultimate Eye Shadow Palette is in it! You will not be sorry! Any other mark. fans?
Meg hair! A few weeks back, Joico had a wonderful launch for some of their new products at the always chic Cecconi's restaurant in West Hollywood. My wonderful friend Kavita Daswani picked me up and we were off to see the latest and greatest from this iconic line. I have been using the K-pak since it came in a purple grey colored bottle. Even before my hair started to turn grey (so we're talking early high school years.)
"Never Let Anyone Dull Your Sparkle"This is an actual photo of what hangs next to my bathroom vanity mirror. It's a good little reminder. Sometimes, a few of my grey hairs stand straight off my scalp with a lovely wiry pubic hair texture. Sometimes, I look in the mirror and don't understand how my friends didn't alert me to a giant blackhead in my ear. Sometimes, I look in the mirror and see dark circles and bags under my eyes so dramatic I mistake myself for Tommy Lasorda. Then I remember a joke I cracked the night before that was completely wrong and innapropriate and how everyone had a great belly laugh. I hope people more remember that about me than a few greys, blemishes and bags (unless the bag is Chanel-remember that.)
I'm a girl that's all about sparkle. Not the teenage glitter stuff. The grown up girl sparkle-the sexy, come hither sheen that glistens perfectly by candlelight. I was really impressed with all of Joico's new line up. What have I been grabbing for in the evenings? GOLD DUST SHIMMER FINISHING SPRAY. Here's why it is perfect for blondes, it brightens and adds light, depth and a subtle shiny sparkle. It smells delicious and it's actually doing secret undercover agent work! Not only does it add sex appeal, it's working with Joico's Bio-Advanced Peptide Complex to repair and protect your hair. As a former brunette (sorry, I had to go bottle blonde-the greys are just too damn expensive to cover every ten days!) I hit the spray tan machine at least once a week. I have to or else I will look completely washed out. This little, cost effective bottle ($8!) even helps my skin. When you apply Gold Dust Shimmer, you use it exactly like you would a hairspray, I like to spray it a little heavier around my face. The wisps along my forehead and sides really add light and frame your skin. You will get Gold Dust ON YOUR FACE. Not a lot, and not glaring. I love this "mistake" it adds such a sweet shimmer to your skin you instantly look healthier. It's perfect for a night on the town, holiday party or hot date night. The last time I used this I was told "Your skin look amazing! You look like an angel." EDITOR SIDENOTE-I'M NO ANGEL.
This has been my go-to, before I'm out the door it takes all of 30 seconds and the results are fabulous. Joico put on a very nice dinner. Below is a picture of the table as we walked in. Next, Kavita Daswani (LA TIMES) and I looking very intrigued at the new line. Bottom left, Kirbie Johnson (PopSugar) and I having a love.
Any other fans of Joico? Which product is your favorite? How about Sparkle? Too girlie and young or do you have your own favorite sheen?
Top Tier Media joined forces with the fabulous Dorothy Manfolk of Manfolk PR. An evening was had by top makeup artists, bloggers and traditional media (I snuck in through the freight elevator.)
These two companies did an amazing job at getting an L.A. flakey crowd to come out on a sweltering, summer week night. This is not easy feat. In L.A. People think they are being polite if they wait to tell you that they're not showing up to meet you AFTER you get to the restaurant but BEFORE you valet your car.
That's the type of mindset that you just deal with here. It's a trade off. Sunny days for shady manners.
Before I delve more into becoming "Miss Manners" or should I type #MissManners (#everything #you #do #you #now #need #Hashtags) that's what's going on with those signs we are holding. Apparently, I not only need to get back to my blog but also to learn Pinterest and Instagram and YouTube. I'm going to try to do a weekly YouTube on here #GODHELPUS.
Everyone commented how lovely everyone looked and enjoyed the party. I want to tell Jen and Dorothy that everyone made the drive in LA traffic (the event started at 6pm) because they're just really nice people. I wanted to tell them everyone was there even though it was 95 degrees out because everyone really cared about them. I wanted to tell them it was about empowering and support and love. I mean, I was there for that reason. That and because if I were a "no show" Jen would never talk to me again. The majority of the people came out in droves and they came out for two little words that can get most grown women to do anything...GIFT BAGS.
Yes, while the rest of the world stopped getting gift bags at the age of 6, women in Los Angeles feel almost insulted if they go somewhere and are not handed a bag full of something when they leave.
Jen and Dorothy are veterens and they know the best way to get a great audience is the old fashioned way-bribery. You know these aren't going to be schlocky bags when these ladies work with great clients! I was very happy to get my Gift Bag, my sciatica and back was not. They were chock full and while brimming to the top with all sorts of goodies. Here were my top picks! Jen was gracious enough to be my hand model as I am in deep need of a mani.
Onsen -Onsen Skincare is getting a bunch of buzz, especially their facial peels. This summer I've been an oil slick and I have been in dire need of a good exfoliator. I'm excited to give this a try and I'll let you know what I think. I'm sure you're on the edge of your seat but humor me.
100% pure -I did not need any introduction to this company. Everything I've tried from them is fantastic! I especially adore the body washes and if you have children, this kid line is also wonderful. Really great products and really good for you too. I can't say enough great things about the brand.
Dermorganic - Already a fan of this Argan based hair care line. Their leave-in conditioner is heavenly! I have yet to use a product from them that I didn't love. I did not know that they had branched into skincare. I was pleasantly surprised to find both a toner and a moisture renewal in my bag. Will let you know how those fare!
Chella I also have used a Chella item in the past and was very happy with their eyelash heater. Worked greart and really curled up the peepers. I am excited to try their brow products as I have been resembling Joan Crawford (my hero) as of late. While she was an excellent parent, her eyebrows were a bit sparse so I looking forward to try to emulate more Brooke Shields this time around.
Thursday Friday-If you don't have an extra $5,000 laying around for a Chanel bag, you can still have one-sort of. These tote bags and clutches mimic the highest designers and trends at prices that wont leave you homeless. Really cute and practical. Check them out! Great for the beach. Have the most stylish blanket ensemble on the sand!
Thanks for a great Summer Soiree! What do you ladies think about this "Gift Bag" deal? Does it go on where you live?
Meg here! Social media is here and here to stay (LIKE). You can try to "go off the grid." When I do, it means I left my iphone in the kitchen while I slept in the bedroom. I'm the type of person that would probably last an entire 15 minutes in The Witness Protection Program. Facebook Status Update "Can't believe the FBI put me in Birmingham. Any fun places to go out?"
By the way, if you need a Social Media expert, check out my buddy Jen Mathews who runs a great firm Top Tier Media. She dreams in #hashtag.
I spend more time than I care to admit scrolling about the newsfeed and I always am intrigued by the postings on Margarita Bloom. When someone tells you to"Eat Diamonds For Breakfast So You Sparkle All Day." You know already they're giving you sound advice.
With my expert sleuthing skills (It was really difficult :) I was able to find out Margarita Bloom is a luxurious world of retro bath and skin care. It is really hard to go on this adorable site and find a collection that doesn't "speak" to your inner pin-up. Categories like "Hollywoodland" all the way to "The Bakery" make it more like an enjoyable peep show than an e-commerce experience! Let's be honest, I get sent just about every beauty product that comes out. Me buying a beauty product is like an Eskimo buying ice, a China man buying tea, a Kardashian acting authentic. Yet, I couldn't stop myself. I pictured Miss Margarita Bloom next to her surely claw-footed tub (most likely under a chandelier or next to a candlelabra) sipping champagna and whipping these potions just for me! In case you were wondering, I also had her dressed in a fluffy pink robe with marabou and crystaled, high heeled slippers.
Maybe, if I placed an order she would invite me over for caviar crepes the following Sunday?
Without further ado, I placed several orders!
In no time at all, a lovingly wrapped packaged came to me with a beautiful note and inside were items so pretty I didn't want to use them. It felt like using the hand towels in the guest bathroom. Then I remembered I didn't have a guest bathroom...
Margarita Bloom did not dissapoint. The inside of the products felt as good as the outside labels suggested. Just today I used my Malibu Body Oil (LOVE.) The Irish Catholic in e felt guilty about enjoying all of these wonderful items for myself. That's another plus about this company. The WOW! Factor for gifts. These are not some body items that you can pick up at your local Bath & BodyWorks. They really look like someone put actual time and care and LOVE into each item-because Miss Margarita Bloom did!
I was so excited with my Facebook find! Some other women I have gotten to know over Facebook (I'm a sucker for a funny post) also run wonderful sites. I'm adding them here because I know you all love to click as much as I do! They know all things BEAUTY! Here (in absolutely no order) are the women that inspire me! I'm sure you've heard of them but if you havent-I'll send you my address foe where you can mail my "thank you" card off to!
What beauty products has the interwebs lead you to that you would not have heard about before? Let me know what I'm missing!
There are 4 great products in the line, a shampoo, conditioner, body wash and what I'm grabbing for constantly The Christine Protective Glaze. It's hair bootcamp over at Megsmakeup land. Between the incessent blow outs, the hot rollers, constantly keeping the color up and a myriad of sprays, foams and mousses... My faux tresses can get worse for the wear.
You know I pray nightly that wigs come into fashion and it seems as though no beauty experts are helping me out with this wish. I have to keep on fighting the good fight! I'm at the end of my 4 month mark of my extensions. That's when they turn from lush and perfect to ratty and string like with a side of frizz and dryness-SEXY!
I really need to get to NYC and have them redone but as I look at my tax bill, that's probably not going to be hapening in the immediate week or two. What's a girl to do? I am holding onto dear life for my Christine Protective Glaze! The glaze is light weight and the bottle is a large size so it has really been lasting me. Once I'm done with my conditioner and wash my hair clean, I squeeze out any excessive water. I then apply a little more than the size of a dime (OK, maybe two dimes) to my palms. Avoiding my roots, I just run it through my hair. By the time I step onto my bath mat to blow my hair out, my tresses are tangle free and feel-dare I say it? Healthy!
The glaze utilizes Life Complex, a formula or keratin, jojoba oils and silk proteins along with grape and hemp seed oils, enriching olive fruit oil and essential vitamin B5. That's a pretty strong army of protection they've got going on over there so it only makes sense it's going to work. The formula acts as an emollient, locks in color and provides an additional defense against chemical treatments, heat treatments and UV rays, all while adding vibrant shine to all types of hair.
Van Thomas is the hair guru behind this genius product. I'm enjoying all of them but am obsessing over this one so I had to start here. Thomas has had an extensive career in all aspects of hair care including nearly two decades at JOICO.
After a brief stint at retirement, Thomas faced a personal tragedy and lost his vibrant daughter Christine. The loss forced Thomas to throw himself into a new, creative endeavor and inspired this fantastic new hair care line "Christine." As a labor of love to not only your hair but his wonderful daughter.
I've been using the glaze daily for about 2 weeks and while I am at the end of my extension run, I am able to hide it pretty well. No thanks to the tax man!
Give this line a try, it's lightweight and I'm told it smells delicious (still having sinus trouble.) The price point is wallet friendly and most importantly-it works!! CHECK IT OUT HERE!
Meg hair! There are a few items in our arsenal that we just can't part with. We can try the latest and the greatest but we always come back to our favorite tried and trues. With my long extensions, I'm always trying different leave-ins and hair masques to keep my (my as in, bought) tresses healthy and tangle free. I've tried them all and the one I constantly reach for is from my friend Marco Pelusi.
Since I'm back on the market, I've got to get myself into fighting shape! Like a boxer preparing himself to hop back into the ring, I have to get ready for the big match. And by big match, I mean a bunch of dinner dates that I'm forcing myself to go on.
I'm not really looking forward to being back on the dating scene but I figure, like any good soldier-I have to be armed. Spray tans, manicures, teeth bleaching, facials this whole ordeal is exhausting even before you get to the darn dinner. The most important exterior feature? Great hair. Yes, I took my fake haired self off to get the most natural color and I drove myself to see my friend Marco for a little touch up.
Marco Pelusi has not only been named "Best LA Colorist" for years but he's also quite a joy to be around and a friend I can count on for many years. Marco took one look at my dreaded roots and brought me into championship form! Here's a picture of the color he created. With all of the coloring that I do, my hair should be a frightful, dry piece of straw.
A lot of celebrities go to Marco and I know that the one product of his that they cannot live without is his Leave In Anti-Frizz Conditioner With Collagen Color Guard. I am going to post a review I wrote years ago. The description and results are still wonderful. It also explains how Marco and I became friends. Thank you Marco! I felt confident walking into my dinner and my hair color still looks great. My hair stays smooth, healthy and all it takes is a pump or two from your miracle Leave in.
Meg here to bring you reviews on one of Marco Pelusi's signature, cult-favorite products, his leave in anti-frizz conditioner.
Living in LA has it perks! I was eating dinner at my trusty deli when Mr. Marco himself popped into the booth next to me. I had to speak to him. You knw when you're in the presence of someone that just exudes upbeat energy and a great smile and full out beams friendliness it's hard to not want to strike up a chat. Mr. Marco is all of those things, he is simply delightful and I was so happy I got the chance to become his friend. This was a few years back so Megsmakeup.com was not even a blip on my radar (um computer) screen at that point. I just wanted to get to know someone that was so passionate and creative and talented. Within the first 15 minutes of chatting with Marco he was already telling me some great ideas for my hair color.
When Marco decided to open a new salon he graciously invited me to his very fabulous opening party. Great food, drinks and goody bags of his new signature products were included. I also got to meet Marco's dad. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, the entire Pelusi clan is warm and talented!
At this point, I had started Megsmakeup, so when I got home I dived into my new Marco Pelusi products. They were all fab and geared toward color treated hair (as you all know-I am slave to the dye) so I was in Heaven. Unfortunately, having to dye my hair so often leaves the ends dry and brittle and fly-away. This is why, I can tell you, Marco's leave in conditioner is a Godsend.
It works on my thin hair without weighing it down and without any greasy feeling. It doesn't give the appearance of oily-just healthy. With a pump (yes ladies, a pump-hooray~) I add this to wet, but towel dried hair and I can actually get a comb through my tresses without the slightest bit of pull. I've spoken to other women that love this as well. The funny thing is, we all have different hair textures. From my lifeless hair to my girlfriends that battle hair bulge and poofiness-well, it appears to universally work. How the heck did he manage that?
For my lucky LA area girls, Marco's salon is right in West Hollywood and it is tranquil and gorgeous. I would be remiss if I didn't tell you he won MyFOXLA Best Hair Color! So he's a true artist that knows not only how to give you your perfect shade but then how to protect it with his products. My hair color truly is more vibrant and longlasting with his color guard protection!
Here's what Marco says about his Leave In Conditioner "this signature product is an exclusive, anti-frizz formula that repairs, restores and rebuilds, leaving the hair and scalp comforted and protected. an ultra luxurious, light and airy leave-in conditioner expressly formulated to replenish the hair’s own natural reserves to boost condition, as well as haircolor longevity, vitality and tone. tames curly, coarse hair while allowing for easy comb-thru and a smooth, healthy appearance."
• naturally derived from coconut, cetrimonium chloride is the most potent anti-frizz element available to moisturize and neutralize static electricity; effects last for up to 72 hours even when rinsed with water
• usp grade vitamin e, one of the most powerful antioxidants available from nature, protects the hair from hostile environmental factors, including pollution, aging and stress
• apricot essential oils fight dryness and cell dehydration
• natural moisturizing factors, including sodium pca, volumize the hair for optimal styling and manageability
Meg here! Breaking up is hard to do, it sucks. Death, putting your dog to sleep, broken heart. I think it might go in that order? I'm getting better and after a tough 3 weeks I'm getting back on the horse and forcing myself back out on the town. It's so hard when you think you've found the "one" but it turns out it wasn't "one" I was getting. I was getting a whole bunch of others in the mix. A whole bunch that had been hand picked by Satan. While he was great, the baggage that came with it was more like steamer trunks, if steamer trunks were females with vendettas. Too much of a war zone for anyone so I had to cut myself loose.
Life doesn't stop just because you want to just stay in your bed for oh, a week or two. You have to get up and face the music and move out of Belvedere Lane. You have to dry your eyes and...Oh no, what about these dark circles? These dark circles are not looking good.
Upon closer inspection, the bags were dark and the face was splotchy. Just because I was feeling like Hell didn't mean that I needed to look like it.
Thankfully, I have a new find and I LOVE this! Click around on the site and take a look at the packaging. It is truly cutting edge and everything that I've tried has a new, inventive and cool twist on the tried and true (I can't wait to review the Click Click Lipstick.)
But Houston, we had a problem and I had a face save. Enter the fantastic 2-in-1 from Ducce Cosmetics (pronounced Doe-Say.) Ducce is a new kid on the block, just now doing a push into the US. They're launching in Henri Bendel next month and I'm predicting the're not going to have any problem moving into other high-end markets.
The packaging is superb, it's substantial and feels and looks top notch. The top cap flips up and hides a creamy concealer. Once you twist the cap, you can reach the mineral foundation underneath that comes with a convenient attached wand. This foundation has been getting me through a tough time, the coverage is fantastic without feeling cakey or heavy. It also has a built in SPF 22. One less step to have to remember.
My shade is "Sanbar Beach" and it is a perfect match, the product is made here in The U.S.A and the coverage lasts all day! Check it out! 5 Champagne Flutes!
Meg here! Happy New Year! I know, we're well into 2014 but better late than never? Before the madness of the hoidays, I was invited by my friend Jennifer Chan from E! Online to try a new line going into Sephora. The line is called Radical Skincare and it is fabulous! The founders of the line, Liz and Rachel are a strong endorsement that it really works. I can personally attest that these sisters give some great face! Their skin is flawless. It might help that their father is a well respected plastic surgeon and they grew up working in their father's lab. When Rachel developed terrible rosacea and Liz was not seeing results with the current products on the market, they decided to take matters into their own hands.
The duo never had the intention to take their potion to market. They made it for their own personal use but something happened... Rachel's rosacea, an ailment that had her on THREE different medications-completely cleared up. Liz wasn't the only one that noticed that her skin was looking younger. People were stopping her on the street wanting to know her secret.
I know these sisters are fabulous and beautiful and somehow they managed to get the prototype of their product off to Melanie Griffith. Yes, that Melanie Griffith. Working Girl, Tess McGill herself. You know how many free things celebrities get sent? Let me fill you in-A LOT.
Cut to my invitation to Radical Skincare's launch. Some time passed and Griffith became a huge fan of the line. Enough of a fan that she offered to have a party IN HER HOUSE. To celebrate the launch of Radical skincare's arrival at Sephora, Liz and Rachel held a party with Melanie. The party had aestheticians on hand providing facials and encouraging the guests to really get to know the line. I have to agree that it's a winner!
This mask applies like a serum and soaks in to where your skin really needs it but here's the kicker. It foams and gets all sudsy. The technology that delivers the nutrients is a new sensation. I felt like I had pop rocks on my face, but in a fun way. Ok, let me edit that. It felt like I had a fine glass of champers bubbling away, turning my dry and tired skin fresh and glowing.
I absolutely LOVE this mask and grab for it constantly. It's no mess, no drip and the results are really beautiful. It only takes 10 minutes and you've got a new, clean-fresh canvass. My skin really felt tons smoother and looked a lot healthier after the first application. I am a huge devotee!
I hope the video gives the mask justice and you can see how great it foams! Check this line out. Radical Skincare delivers Radical Results! What's your favorite mask application?
Stacy B here! It's started already. My pants don't fit and we've had one holiday! I'm a whale and it's barely December!
OK, exaggerating a bit, but still. Doesn't it feel like that sometimes? I try really hard to stay healthy and consistent - I even went to the gym the morning of Thanksgiving and twice more over the long weekend - but it gets hard this time of year. Not to mention the external changes I have to deal with living in a cold part of the country. My hair is getting some static, my skin needs more lotion and my lips are dry as a bone.
To think, I wish for dryer, frizz-free weather half the year, and then I get it, and all I want is just a little bit of humidity so I don't wake up with my lips cracking and my eyes red and dry! We are never satisfied, are we?? My lips have been really bad lately, so bad that the skin around them is red, raised, and irritated, and my lips are cracked and painful. I have been sticking my face over a bowl of boiling water multiple times a day, slathering them with Blistex and petroleum jelly and will even admit to getting so fed up that I actually rubbed some diaper rash cream on the skin around my lips. Not the actual lips, I was too afraid I'd actually ingest it, but just around the edges. I admit a lot of crazy things to you guys...
Believe it or not, the good old Triple Paste that I rub on my baby boy's behind actually worked. I have yet to tell my husband this, I actually think this may be one of first secrets I will keep from him forever. He'd be horrified.
While my lips are on the mend, I've sworn off any sort of color, stain or stick. Too risky. Luckily I work from home now and only have meetings a few times a week so I can get away with crazy lip remedies and pale winter lips. But, I still have errands and play dates and dinners with my husband (as long as the diaper rash incident stays buried) so sometimes I want a dash of color with a ton of protection. Not being able to smile without bleeding is disgusting and not something I want to return to.
I was nervous about it, so I tried it on one morning where I had a 2 hour meeting and that was it. I figured if it didn't work, or my lips started to rebel, I had my Blistex in my bag and I wouldn't be trapped long. It was the perfect color for me (I tried Be Sweet, this amazing purple-ish/pink-ish/frosty neutral) and the perfect amount of pigment, too. Shiny, a little color and it lasted through the meeting.
I left feeling like my lips were in good shape. No driness, no cakey residue on my lips or teeth and when I checked my reflection in my rearview mirror, I still had a little shine after 2 hours of talking and sipping water. When I got home I covered what was left with a little more Blistex (purely preventative) and headed to the gym.
I'm not going to tell you it lasted through an hour long workout because it didn't. But for a slick balm with a light pigment, it really worked for the few hours I needed it to. This is no stain, or even a lipstick, it's just a balm that requires some reapplication every few hours. But you can do it fast, without a mirror, and on the go if needed. It's just like a fancy chapstick that keeps you protected from harsh winter elements, and keeps you looking cute.
I've used it sparingly for the last few days as my lips continue to recover and I'm really happy with it. I'd compare it to Maybelline's Baby Lips, which I have and like, and I think the added color makes CoverGirl the winner. Great winter staple for anyone on the go, or in a cold, dry climate who still wants to look cute and warm.
