I can't live without this product...

Primers are my must have product now a days. In the last few years, I stared noticing that my "never needed foundation" face was changing. In my 20's a little concealer and a pat of powder did the trick. As I have clicked through the 30's, some cruel and inconceivable changes started to occur to my complexion, oh the humanity! In searching for the perfect primers, my favorites have been: Laura Mercier's Hydrating Primer in the dry winter months, Perricone's Ceramic Skin is divine, and Alison Raffale's are helping me get my groove back. Viva to the Thirty+ Women!
I like "Perricone's Ceramic Smoother/ Alison Raffaele's Face Forward Primer" (Others who like it too...pamelairene indianafarmwife joni1715 jbeth judahslion hopgrasser kate2004rock )

I wouldn't die, but I would suffer greatly without this product...

Suki Lemongrass Cleanser

After mulitiple glowing recommendations, I purchased Suki's Lemongrass Cleanser. It really does smell like a lemondrop; it even tastes like a lemondrop! As promised, this cleanser is the best: great gentle exfoliator, cleans without being too harsh, and leaves my skin feeling soft and as supple as my little Becca's bum! Bless you SUKI and Meg's Team of Beauty Divas, you all are da BOMB!

Without this product, I'd have to start drinking at noon ;-) ...

Tarte Smooth Operator Foundation SPF 20

I have been searching for a foundation like this my entire life and I have tried several. My main objectives: natural looking coverage without the cakiness/deposits some foundations can have, applies smoothly without too much work, & won't cause breakouts. My most crucial question: Can it live up to the lighted "magnification" mirror test? It is true, I am a bit obsessed with my skin, but I notice so many ladies with horrible foundation, and then ask myself the question, "Am I one of THEM?" With this foundation and a superb primer, I can confidently respond, "Not me!" The SPF 20 is a bonus, love it, love it, love it!!!

My secret beauty recipe and best makeup tips...

Drink lots of water, disregard silly Meg's suggestion that water = poop! And, be good to yourself and your skin. Use excellent skincare products and sunscreen. Your skin will look infinitely better when you get older, trust me! I was so inspired by this website I created a blog to discuss beauty issues: http://www.mythbusterbeauty.com. Also, whatever Kate and Desert Doll suggest, do it!

How long does it really take me to get ready? What's my beauty routine?

Are you kidding? Between several interuptions from little people, about 40 minutes.

While Meg's mom used to give her at-home perms, my most mortifying makeup moment is...

My Dear Mother gave me a home perm when I was 8, and I will never forget my best friend Missy's reaction after seeing me the next day at school, my hair must have been a horrendous sight! Hair has always been a sensitive issue for me: thick, kinky, frizzy, and terribly dry. I recently came across Lorraine Massey’s book, “Curly Girl”, Ouidad’s book, and the website Naturallycurly.com, and had the epiphany that I have curly hair! I have been fighting against it my entire life. News flash curly girls, there are people out there that know what to do with your uncontrollable locks! Since March I have been following the “No Poo” routine and using only water soluble hair products. I also changed to a stylist that specializes in curly hair and have had amazing results. Viva la curl!

My celebrity doppelganger (or so I'm told sometimes) is...

My daughter tells me I look like Elisabeth Shue, we both had big hair in the 80's. When my I lived in NYC and had really short hair people compared me with Katie Couric. My Aunt thinks I look like actress Dian Cannon, recently played a judge on Ally McBeal and starred in many 70's movies like "Heaven Can Wait."

  • champ3377 says, Thanks, young one. When I really take my time and do eyeshadow for a big event, I seem to gravitate toward hues of purple and I'm complimented on my "green" eyes (which really are hazel). Your input means much! God Bless, Gigi

  • indianafarmwife says, Thanks for the note! I just got back from helping inventory some flood damage at one of the Vincennes University facilities that I teach out of. Cool tidbit: I heard a squalling noise – and found a cat that had survived the deluge. She rode out 7ft of water. We’ll see if anyone claims her, but for now I have a very skinny, very loveable new cat that simply will NOT let me out of her sight. She just makes me smile.

  • champ3377 says, THANK YOU! Xstatic is a wonderful writer, but I want this so badly and truly appreciate your input. I used to write for Heather Kleinman's "Cosmetic Connection" and actually took over the site when she had her second child and was weary. I was the "Ask the Makeup Diva," and it was a "baptism of fire." I received questions from women in the U.S. and other countries. An American woman wrote, "I'm ugly--help, please, ASAP, today if you can." (Great--she wanted me to pen a novel yesterday.) Another said, "I have big nose so what I do?" Those aren't mistakes, but the way it was worded. I was tempted to tell her to have plastic surgery but didn't. A reader from China asked, "I only use makeup made in my country. Tell me best ones." Yikes! How should I know? Haven't been to China recently . . . I read your profile. I've had eye surgery recently and can't be on the computer for a long time, but you give excellent advice. Water works. As you well know, it plumps cells and cleanses, removing toxins from your entire body. I probably drink eight or more large bottles a day in school (not kidding). I'm doing it now that I'm on vacation. An added benefit: I'm losing weight. I crave it (water addiction?) and I've been losing weight since I started my regimen. How cool is that? Again, thanks much and God Bless! Gigi

  • sweetassgal says, Thanks for the OACV tip in pill form...I'm instituting it immediately! I noticed in a lot of your reviews that you really like Caudalie. I use a lot of Decleor products (and love them) but I've been curious about Caudalie. Can you tell me your fav items and why you like them? Any tips or tricks would be great. I like to ask around before investing in a new line (as I always get sucked into buying the WHOLE line). Thanks much and as always...GLAM ON!

  • indianafarmwife says, I would be INCREDIBLY honored. You know, I surf your site nearly every morning as part of my wake-up and go routine! BTW - I really LOVED Prescriptives because I had the worst time purchasing make-up that looked right... I was always coming out more like an Oompaloompa than a grrl. Thank heavens for the friend who led me to the Prescriptives counter!

  • kate2004rock says, Question: Have you tried any of the Caudalie Shower gels yet? I've been hording a couple of them since this summer. I finally allowed myself to pop one open, Sauvingon - because I whittled down and used up 4 other shower gel bottles before I was allowed to. And divine! They have no detergents - gentle enough to use on newborn babies! Ok, if youve tried them what did you think? If you haven't this is in no way an endorsement from me to go out and spend more money. If you buy them, It was not ME that made you do it, but of your own free will.
