SCHICK QUATTRO FOR WOMEN! MAKE UP POINTS MAILING OUT THIS FRIDAY! FAB ITEMS! GET YOUR REDEMPTIONS IN!

Meg here! I mean, who were you expecting? Diana Ross? I felt like a Supreme this week though! Props and gratitude to my friends at Schick Quattro and Lippe Taylor (Hi Maureen!) Andrea Halpern and Sloane Berrent (Hi Taylor!) Really knocked my socks off! It's a good thing my legs were all nice and smooth with the fabulous Schick Quattro's they provided.
I am very lucky and I don't take it for granted. Well, sometimes I do. I try not to though. I'm human and every once in a while I can be a bit Eeyorish, usually it's around the 28th day of each month, I digress. Take this post with a grain of salt. I had a fabulous week! Not all weeks are like this. Look back around my posts around Christmas time where I sound like a walking ad for someone needing Prozac.
When you write your own site, or when you write for a living or read for a living, sometimes the things that use to bring you so much joy get classified as "work" in your head. It's not that I'm so silly to think www.megsmakeup.com is the only one worth reading. I don't think that. It's just there are a million blogs out there and in my free time, I try to surgically remove myself from my laptop and try to do this thing called "real life."
Schick put together a great media trip where everyone got to travel to Los Angeles, or, if you're me, travel down the street. I've been logging so many air miles lately that this was actually a relief.
The Mad Women from the Ad/PR world brought together a group of writers. There was the young whippersnapper style expert Erika Sheffer, better know as StyleActivist. There was the hip Chicago based Mom that writes the TV fashion beat, Dana Weiss, or to her many fans Possessionista. Kristin Booker also joined our myriad group, she writes about fashion, beauty, lifestyle and how to achieve it on any budget. She also is inspiring and kicks ass and celebrated her birthday with us, you can find her at FashionStyleBeauty. I rounded out the group. I'm assuming you know me at this point. I'm the one in the glasses on the end.
I don't know Andrea and Sloane did it, but they managed to bring together women from all different backgrounds and cities and points of views and no one left crying! It was like The View but interesting! I'm being a smart ass about the "crying" bit. Quite the contrary, these ladies were not only cool but really insightful and helpful and accomplished and I was all ready to Roar! Check their sites out. I'm going to. If we could all get along and work together the way we did than they're really is no reason for a boys club to exist.
There was a lot packed into our 2 days so I'm going to have to break the post up. First off, I would like to again state that ww.megsmakeup.com is not going to promote any company that supports animal testing. I did research and Schick Quattro, the brand and the line is cruely free. If I make a mistake and a brand is not cruelty free. I hope you all don't attack me, but instead, correct me and I will rectify the mistake. In further looking into Schick there was some information that the parent companies brands are not all cruelty free. I asked my friend, Jennifer Mathews, who runs the cruelty free website MyBeautyBunny how she tackles these issues. Here is her response and I think it makes a lot of sense.
"We believe that supporting animal-friendly companies goes a long way toward the eventual elimination of animal testing. If the parent companies see the successes of their brands who do not test, it's a win. It's also a win for the animal-friendly companies to get larger distribution in mass channels by being involved with huge companies. That's our personal opinion here at My Beauty Bunny and we invite you to make up your own mind on the matter!"
Like I said. I'm really trying to do the right thing over here but Mathews common sense rang true. On with the post!

I met team Schick. Or as I will refer to us, Shick's Chic's, at The Montage's Conservatory for lunch. It's a fabulous spot on the 9th floor that look out over all of the ole 90210. I ordered a Pinot Grigio (I'm Meg, what you though I was going for the iced tea) and sat down to learn about my ladies and about the great new Schick products. We posed for the picture above after lunch but before our 90 minute massages at The Spa at the Montage. I know. Don't hate me. It was pretty amazing, so if you find yourself in Beverly Hills with an extra 2 hours then go get it done (and lucky you.)
I'm a bikini waxer. It's gotten to the point where I don't have to be comatose or drugged up to have it done. Here's the tip, you HAVE to be CONSISTENT. Everytime the hair is ripped out, it's weakening the hair follicle. It's no Disneyland but now, it's also no inferno of Hell.
Another tip? Exfoliate everday in the shower to prevent ingrowns and yes, you have to allow yourself to get a little "furry" down there so the wax has something to grab. You may be looking a little rough before your next appointment but I have been a good little solider and resisting the razor. I have been resisting in on the Home Plate. However, it's bathingsuit season so I'm not going to horrify the innocents just trying to catch some rays poolside with me. I need a clean crease for the love of God. This isn't the 70's.
The Schick Quattro Trimstyle Razor and Bikini Trimmer is a GODSEND! And it's easy to find and it's under TEN BUCKS! What is it?
Compact Cartridge with Four-Blade Pivoting Head Razor
Designed specifically for a woman's body, the curves of the cartridge follow your natural shape. The four-blade razor provides a precise shave while the pivoting head offers greater flexibility and can glide into hard-to-reach areas. You can choose between Schick Quattro for Women Ultra Smooth or Sensitive blade refills for a long-lasting, clean shave every time.
The Ultra Smooth refills feature Acai Berry and Jojoba conditioning strips to provide moisture for your skin. The Sensitive blade refills are specially formulated with hypoallergenic ingredients that calm and soothe your skin.
Portable, Waterproof Bikini-Area Trimmer
The Schick Quattro for Women TrimStyle Razor and Bikini Trimmer flips open to reveal a battery-powered vibrating trimmer that's easy to use anywhere. The durable, long-lasting trimmer blades can be adjusted to three lengths, or you can remove the comb completely for a close trim.
The bikini-area trimmer operates with one AAA battery (included).
It comes with a battery! How awesome is that? If only all of our personal need items came with a battery. I may one day be able to use a remote control or avoid being burnt alive in a house fire because the fire alarms batteries have gone missing! What do you want? I'm single...
I'm going to beg Schick Quattro to send some of these so I can add them to some points packages because my legs feel great, my underarms are smooth and I know once you try it you're going to be a lifer!
In keeping with www.megsmakeup.com animal friendly stance, I will quote the wise words of PETA "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur!" Even my own.
So what do you ladies think? What other blogs do you read? Check out my new friends site! What razor finds a home in your shower?

I use Bic Soleil razors right now but am willing to switch it up if one looks fun. I definitely would give this a shot! As for other blogs I read... I like Beauty Bunny a lot, which is a cruelty free blog. I also get a kick out of Celebitchy.com - my daily mindless dose of celebrity gossip with a fun twist! Of course Meg's is my go-to blog though!
lover of beauty, sharer of opinions http://prettylightsbeauty.blogspot.com/
I use Venus razors in the shower. As for beauty blogs, I love My Beauty Bunny as well.
whoo! finally, the shick quattro getting the love it so deserves! i have been using the regular shick quattro razor for a few years, now. yes, the replacement blades are expensive (but what brand isn't, really?)...but this baby is amazing. i am a super clumsy person and prone to accidents. i did this really cool thing this past saturday where i opened my front door to go outside and immediately fell flat on my face on the concrete outside of the door. bruised my knees, skinned the palms of my hands..fun stuff. and all of this just for walking...and this proclivity extends to shaving my legs. i can NOT shave my legs without nicking an ankle or a knee or just plain shaving some skin off of my shin. makes for a super sexy me. until i tried this razor! i NEVER cut myself with this because it has those fabulous safety wires on the blades...so not only do i get a super close shave from the four blades, but also a very safe and leg-friendly one. i have actually TRIED to nick myself with it just for fun on a few occasions just to see..no matter how hard i press and drag over my ankle, it just doesn't happen. i use the sensitive refills and they work like a charm. i have very little irritation in the sensitive bikini and underarm areas..i would recommend this razor to anyone. anyone. especially those prone to irritation and or cuts and nicks. you won't be disappointed, i promise you. as for other blogs? well, i haven't been keeping up with any for quite some time, but i LOVE musings of a muse. http://www.musingsofamuse.com - fantastic beauty reviews on EVERYthing..

i have that razor ! I ove it, and also, i went for my first bikini wax last week! EUGHAGGGHHH! it was SO awful!!!!! Remind me never to buy those sorts of things on groupon, bad idea as she was a bit inexperienced and i am sure it hurt more than it should. SUUURELY!!!
who loves makeup? me me ME!
Yay on makeup points redemption. Meg, please let me know if there's an issue with mine (I sent you a message earlier through this site). Thanks! As for razors, I also use Schick and rotate that with Venus. I do try to look for cruelty free options (not perfect, still trying).
DH loves Schick Quattro for shaving his face but I've never tried it myself. I've been using Venus and they seem to work fine, but DH swears that 4th blade makes a huge difference. Maybe I'll have to try it and see!
I am a Quattro girl and have been for quite some time. Love the battery operated trim option. Razor blades replacements are ridiculously expensive regardless of what brand you use. Thanks for letting us know that this is a cruelty free product as well. Until you knick yourself, then it is very cruel!

I also use the Schick Quattro razor (the fushia one) it does a pretty good job and I get a smooth shave without all the nics like the other shavers I have used. This razor looks like its a winner. Besides megs blog I also read primpers blog.

I just switched to the Silk Effects razor. I get ingrown hairs and bumps on my legs constantly. I'm hoping switching to a razor with fewer blades will help with that. I just switched this week though, so I'm withholding judgement on my master plan. hahaha... :-) I read a bunch of blogs, but one of my favorites is Nouveau Cheap. I love knowing what is on sale and what is new when I head to the drugstore.
< hangs head in shame > I just use whatever razor is sitting around the bathroom (usually one my guy uses on his face)
I like read Phyrra's blog http://www.phyrra.net/ since she reviews indie and mineral makeup, and I like to participate in forums like http://www.87px.net/mmf where women talk about mineral makeup and of course other topics!
I have a Venus and a Schick. I really like them both. I actually had one of the Schicks when they very first came out with the wire coverings lol. I enjoy lots of beauty blogs but the one I most regularly read is Nouveau Cheap.

I use a Venus razor, but a Quattro would be nice! ... I love nail blogs; a favorite is Scrangie.com.
i feel like i need to try this!! it would be a nice change!! i hope my points are in this round.. i thought i made it into the last one.. iam a little worried. pay pal confuses me soo much!! haha so excited to get this round! :)
Ooh, I hope some of these do end up going out in boxes to us Megheads. I really want to try one. I have the MOST sensitive skin in that area, and it is like horrible pain and suffering any time I attempt to do just about anything down there... grr... Maybe this would work though, especially if it's for sensitive skin!
My Blog: http://rubysrigmarole.blogspot.com/
I bought one of those Schick Quattro Trimstyle Razor and Bikini Trimmers (boy that's a mouthful!) a few years back. At first it worked great, it cut down on the time I had to spend on my bikini area and the trimmer didn't irritate my skin (it's very sensitive, I get razor burn from EVERYTHING). However, after only a few uses it stopped working. I changed the battery but it still wouldn't work. I don't know if mine was faulty or if it just doesn't have a long life (like a regular razor), but I was wary to spend the money on another one to be sure. ----------- I read a lot of beauty blogs, particularly cruelty-free ones, since it's an issue I am extremely passionate about. I'll definitely be checking out My Beauty Bunny! I should hope no one would yell at you if you accidentally post about a company that's not cruelty-free, unless you suddenly say "PSYCH! Let's test on some bunnies!". It's complicated when many companies purposefully confuse their policy statements to make it seem like they don't test, or flat out lie about it. It can be hard to tell if a company really is or not, and there are some that seem like they would be that aren't (or that change their minds). When I see something that is listed as cruelty free when I know it's not, I make sure not to be accusatory since it's often something the other person wasn't aware of. Maybelline, for example, DOES test on animals, although their mascara was reviewed in the post below this one.
I use Venus razors in the shower. :)
I love reading blogs, but I enjoy watching make-up reviews on Youtube better :)
Great article! Never shave, use epilatory cream. I hope I'll get my package from March 30th or 31th when I last redeemed my points! Yay!
I'm a Venus razor girl myself, but in a punch I'll use the Intuition. My fave blogs are Penny Chic and Dlisted!
I don't have a favorite razor. I usually just use whatever is on sale. Right now, I like reading Nouveau Cheap.
I do not read a ton of other blogs but looked a tthat razor before. in " dating rules from my future self" they had them
I also use Venus razors, I haven't found any other good razors here (Finland). Must keep my eyes out for this brand when I travel next time ;)
I am bad and use low quality razors and I definitely can feel and see the difference.
I use the Venus. I think Schick is available in my country but I didn't buy it as it's not as well known as Gillette. Now I have more options. Thanks for this!
Excited about the next package, thank you!
Will keep a lookout for this
http://lipglossfiend.wordpress.com
Will keep an eye out for this one. I've used the Gillette Fusion for years. Yeah, I know it is marketed as a man's razor, I get a fantastic shave from it. A better shave then what I was getting from women's razors at the time I switched years ago. I have a number of blogs that I read. Some of my favs - Nouveau Cheap, Bloomin' Beauty, Getting Cheeky, Best Things In Beauty, Messy Wands, Beauty Look Book, The Everyday Beauty & Cafe Makeup. I have a list of probably 50 blogs that I check over the course of a couple of weeks. I read a few nail blogs & am just starting to branch out & read some style blogs. It has helped me 'diversify' my reading in that some of the beauty blogs I read regularly have branched out & started to include an occasional OOTD or style purchase. Will definitely check out the other blogs you mentioned Meg.
I use a schick.
I use Schick I think. Kills me how much razors cost though...
I use my Braun Silk epilator....so much better than razors. Will use Schick in an emergency though!
I like the trimmer part of it.. but I like to use my men's razor better..
Sounds great. I'd love if they send some to go in future packages. I probably shouldn't admit this but I've never has luch with women's razors and I actually prefer to use my husband's razor. I get such a smooth, close shave from it, and don't nick my legs up like I tend to with women's razors. Go figure.
I have the Schick Quattro and I do love this razor, I've had it for over a year and you don't need to change the blades very often...they last awhile. I always get a close shave that makes my legs so smooth. Excellent razor!

I may have to grab one of these. I've been using the Venus since it came out! LOL
I've seen this before but it looks kind of scary! I love my Venus.
Thanks!
This looks the same as my Gilette Quattro. Is it just marketed under a different name or a different product with the same styling? Either way I love my Quattro and Venus razors. Do a greatjob for me. I agree with lov2read68 though that men's razors actually often do a better job than those marketed for us women. I suppose they are designed for tougher hair.
I love Quattro and Venus razors. I like to use coupons to help keep down the cost tho.
