WET N' WILD! COLOR ICON EYESHADOW PALETTE!
Wed, 05/30/2012 - 7:03pm

Stacy B here! I love going back and reading the comments from my older posts. Especially when they are right along my same train of thought. There's nothing like a little validation to make me feel good! I was glad to hear so many of you liked the Wet n Wild nail polishes from last week. I took mine off after some chipping on day 6 or so. My toes are still going strong after almost 10 days. I'll probably have to take that off soon just to change up the color.
After last week's review posted I had a moment of writers remorse. I thought, "Did I really just write a glowing review of a cheap, drugstore brand that caters to the pre-teen and zero budget crowd? Do I still have baby brain? Are people going to think I'm nuts? Did I just lose all credibility?" I was afraid to check out the responses but I'm so glad I did. So many of you commented on how well this polish held up and how Wet n Wild seems to have matured and quietly become a pretty respectable brand. At least for nail polish.
I figured if the polish was so great, lets see what else Wet n Wild has up its sleeve. I checked out their Color Icon Eyeshadow Palate in "Blue Had Me at Hello" (cute name!) They have eye shadow singles, trios and palates and I figured I'd try the palate and get as much color as I could!
I have good things and not great things to say. Nothing too bad, it is, after all, an inexpensive drugstore product that cost about $5 so I can't expect miracles. The colors went really well together and the instructions were literally printed in the shadow. The top shimmer was labeled 'browbone', the next darker shade was 'eyelid', then 'crease' and finally, 'define'. So easy! And I love that you can do all four as instructed, or use them individually since they are all great colors.
Word of caution...test out each color on your hand first. The pigments seem a little off. The brow bone color barely went on so I had to use more swipes and a heavier hand. I did the same with the second color on my eyelids and it was color overload! I looked like a circus clown! I had to totally start over. Some of the colors are very deeply pigmented and some are lighter. They all go on smoothly and last an impressive amount of time, but you just need to remember which is the one to lightly dust and which is one to smooth with a bit more pressure. I had a little bit of creasing toward the end of the day, but it's been really humid lately so that might contribute. This is good solid shadow, but its not weather proof.
I liked this a lot and the dual sides give endless combinations. I thought I'd check out another one so I ordered Comfort Zone which was browns, greens and neutrals. When my package arrived, it was a total mess. It had completely broken apart and was everywhere. This does not travel well! Definitely not an on-the-go product, I would never put this in my bag for fear of shadow everywhere.
Given the price and brand, I was very pleased with this product. I've always been partial to MAC shadows and this was a pretty good alternative. At least at home!
I'm really impressed with the new Wet N' Wild! Have you tried any of the new items?

I have not tried any of the new items. I am not sure I would try the eye shadow but maybe some of their other stuff.
I was thinking that this might be a great product to just leave in the travel bag so I don't have t start messing with which of my many favorites I want to take, but you cleared up that misconception. Buy it at the drugstore and handle with care. Given that there are a number of other very inexpensive choices I think I would skip this one. NYX is doing a lot with palettes and new combinations and I find the products easy to use and good quality. Wet and Wild looks like it got an update trend wise, but not quality wise. And without Stacy I wouldn't have that info and be able to shop wisely.
I love the nail polishes and I had the same reaction as you for the pallettes. I had 2 and ended up giving them to my sister. I did like them, but not love. I also haven't travelled with these.

I love this colours :)
I haven't tried any of the palettes, but I do love that color combo. May have to check them out.
OMG i WANT THIS im so going to buy this!. Love wet and wild.
I haven't used their eyeshadows since I was in high school. I hate to be this way, but I have definitely become an eyeshadow snob. After using drugstore for years I went to mineral eyeshadow, which is beautiful but messy and doesn't last very long unless you use a strong primer. Then, thanks to Meg, I tried Urban Decay eyeshadow and have been hooked! They are expensive but so worth it - the pigmentation, color choices, longevity, and blendability are amazing! I also now love theBalm after getting their Shady Lady palettes at TJ Maxx, and also have some Tarte eyeshadows but those get muddy on me and don't blend the best. Anyway, thanks for letting us know how these work! I have a really ridiculous amount of eyeshadow right now, but I might get some for my nieces to play with!

I've said it before, but again, I'm a fan of Walking on Eggshells trio by WnW. Love it. If this is the same at all, I want it! For the price, it'd be easy to just want 'em all! Thanks for the review though, and the discussion about pigmentation.

i love the wnw products
The same thing happened to my comfort zone palette too. Luckily the online store re-sent a new one to me. I'm guessing the shadow is made very soft so it don't travel well. I like the palette, but I do need a primer under it. Overall it is pretty good quality for the price.
I really wish I could get Wet n' Wild where I live :/
Love the idea with the names telling where to go. I think I would need a primer and hope I can keep it on. I sweat alot
you're right. in order for these shadows to hold up throughout a long day, a primer is essential....but that is a very small concession to make considering the price. I have had a couple of these palettes, but i prefer the single shadows. I like to pick and choose the individual shades because some of the darker and more shimmery ones are actually TOO pigmented. I haven't experienced any shattering, but I have purchased mine at the drugstore and not travelled with them as far as I can recall. in all, a great option for the budget-minded girl, as long as a primer is used.

I haven't used wet n wild since high school . I might need to check it out again
I love w and w! i have their neutrals pallete abd it is so nice!
who loves makeup? me me ME!
So far I have only tried the nail polishes and they do hold up quite long. I have oily lids so was fearful the shadows would be a mess on me, i might give in and give them a try some time.

i never tried the new pallets, i didnt ever see them here in canada...
very pretty!
I have not trid their palettes because they are not available in my city
I haven't tried any of the WnW products, but I did fulfill a request to take some to Singapore. They're really popular these days, and I'm not lying when I say I LOVE eye shadow palettes that come with instructions. I need that!!
I havne't tried the e/s in a long time, but I love wnw's mascaras-- they're the only brand that I've ever repurchased! I'm picky when it comes to mascara, and leery of the idea of spending a ton of money on something that will have to get tossed in 3 months. The only other one I've wanted to buy a second time was VanityMark, but always put it off because I don't want to have to pay for shipping. I love that I can go into any drugstore, hand over about $3, and get a great mascara. I find the Mega Volume works just as well (if not better in many cases) than more expensive drugstore and even high-end brands! The Mega Length was a bit too runny for me though, it always smears on my lids.
I am quite impressed by WnW products. The quality is good and the products are affordable. I have been trying to get hold of some eyeshadow palettes as they are not readily available here.
I like the WnW shadows, but they are fragile. I use Comfort Zone, Silent Treatment, and Walking on Eggshells frequently.
Not new, but I have the single shadow Nutty. Very pretty neutral with shimmer.
I routinely go to my local drug store and check out Wet & Wild products, the eyeshadows are my favorites! I probably have a dozen or so in my make up kit, I use them all equally. I do get better staying power with Wet & Wild eyeshadows when I use an eyeshadow primer.

Actually, no. Not available where I'm in

I have a bunch of WnW shadows in my collection. Their single in Brulee is my go-to browbone shadow. Walking on Eggshells is a great palette for quick, simple looks. I recently picked up the Comfort Zone palette too.
This is actually a nice little palette. I like Urban Decay eye shadows best, but the their colors are actually a liitle too vibrant for me now. These softer colors are great for my my greying hair, which I notice looks better with soft lavenders and pinks. I just keep these in my bathroom--don't think I'll ever travel with them, it's just to big, and now that I know how they crumble I'll just keep them there to experiment with.
Thanks for the honest review! I haven't bought a drugstore eyeshadow in years. I personally love Silk Naturals' 'eyelight' finish and I just know I won't find anything that can compare! Not to say I'm not tempted as I walk by all the colorful shiny eyeshadows in stores.... lol!
While there is some fall out with WnW shadows, I think the color payoff is amazingly worth it. I use the single shadow in Penny almost everyday.
I have a 6 pan palette from WnW, but didn't enjoy it as much as I did with their nail polishes. I have read great reviews of their single shadows before, so I think I better try those.
Nope, never heard of em
I have Comfort Zone & Silent Treatment. The colors in Comfort Zone are hit & miss. Some give good color payoff & some are patchy. They are definitely on trend colors though. I like 2 of the 3 colors in the Silent Treatment palette as well. I agree that these make better stay at home palettes than travelling pallettes.
Their products have gotten so good! I'm so surprised that their eyeshadows have been on the up and up lately in the drugstore market
I have tried the new eyeshadow palette and I love it!
I tried the eyeshadow skick... amazing!!
Wetnwild has nice bright color products. I'm using the priemer and foundation and I actually like it. It takes away alittle of the red in my face when i use it as a priemer.
I'm really like the colors of this pallette and the price is reasonable...they also

Very pretty shades!
Last time I cashed in points I got the Wet N Wild Mega Shield lip stick and I am so in love that I ordered 4 more online. Unfortunately they don't ship well in the heat either and one arrived broken and stuck up in the cap, but I repaired it and it ended up being my favorite color. It doesn't break me out either and that's no small feat considering every single expensive brand out there does make me react in a ring around my lips. You go, Wet N Wild!
Pretty!
Oh my god, I want to try them so bad!
Since we don't get Wet n Wild readily in Malta, I have to get their product off the internet and they never fail to impress! I recently bought of their limited edition baked e/s palettes and I can't seem to stop using it... awesome pigmentation and staying power!
I always fall for their polishes, but I have yet to try any of their "real" makeup. I just can't justify more eyeshadow
My local CVS does not Carry these but my Hannafords Super Market does for over 9 dollars!!!
Wow I really like the colors!
These are amazing palettes, but the shadows do break easily. I have 4 of these and will definitely be purchasing more.
I have all 3 of the 8-pan WnW palettes and the comfort zone is by far the best of them!Try that one!
