TARTE! AMAZONIAN CLAY POWDER!
I have it BAD! Spring Fever that is and Goddess Granny isn't taking any prisoners or suffering any fools this season! I intend to look better, be more fit and healthy, and to kick this year into HIGH gear on the warm breezes that are blowing though…crazy weather everywhere in the US but "seasons" are pretty much a state of mind and shoes as well has how much skin one can expose so I say it's TIME to being on the lookout for fresh!
I sincerely hope I'm not the only one who is still trying to figure out "who or "what" she wants to be when she grows up? I swear I'm worse than a tween these days with my choices whether it be food, music, what to wear, or how I want to look and have realized that chaos can be good because it prompts us to take that leap and re-invent ourselves whether we're nudged by the weather or some invisible or internal force that is saying,"Go for it…"
I have literally wrecked havoc with my skin and self lately trying a ridiculous amount of "new" products and have decided that in some cases, less is more (glitter and heel height excluded) so I'm experimenting with some very exclusive and more "natural" (God I hate that word!)at least in ingredients products at least when it comes to my skin-canvas and will keep you posted on how it goes with that: still haven't found a "better" foundation for me than Armani's Luminous Silk but have something ordered that may be interesting and it's a cult-favorite as well as "natural..."
I'm popping between an almost no color pale/dark eyes/ plain glossed lip lip to an over the top heavy winged cats eye liner with a flaming red lip these days and although I am NOT a "blush" person, am still hunting for a little "something" to take me out of the shadows when it comes to my paleness…what I HAVE discovered though is that is you skin presents as totally pore less and flawless, it really becomes less of an issue as to adding more color? I see it going both ways in the makeup looks for 2012!
I say,"To know a Tarte is to love a Tarte…" whether it be fruit or sassy or the AMAZING brand that we here at Megsmakeup.com simply adore! This cruelty-free, vegan line of fabulous products just keeps on taunting us with enough beautiful products every year to fill a hefty-basket and what's not to love about that? It's not just a "cult" that follows this brand anymore,it's all of us who love beautiful color presented in formulations that are pure and that honestly outperform many loaded with "stuff" that is better left to the dark days…
Their "Amazonian Clay" line of products has won countless awards and I don't know anyone who doesn't swear by "something" in this collection: the colors are true and last forever and the ingredients are pure enough to tempt the real purists among us! I love the eyeliners and blushes and recently tried their "Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder" with GREAT results!
It's white in the jar but melts to nothing on ALL skin tones: I suggest gently rolling this loose finishing powder on then using a brush to remove excess: if you haven't experimented with a finishing powder before,THIS is the one to try! It sets, it polishes, you can even use under eyes to on top of a blemish to REALLY lock down concealer and it will NOT settle into any little lines or creases no matter what! It controls oil and gives your face such a gorgeous airbrushed-finish, you'll look flawless in any light or no matter you "look!"
It's also a treatment because it contains Tarte's PM20™, a molecular compound to clinically reduce the size of pores by 20% in 4 weeks time!!! It's actually helping to MAKE your skin flawless as well and what it doesn't contain is anything we hate: no paraben or sulfates,no mineral oil or fragrance! It contains their Amazonian Clay to provide a natural balance to your skin and it's just an INCREDIBLE all around great face powder! There is something just so feminine about using face powder to me...
The ever so cool and colorful Tarte site seems to be "out of stock" on this product at the moment and if you read the reviews you'll see why!
HOWEVER it's in stock with more great reviews at Sephora!
I can't say enough about using a powder to set and polish no matter what else you have on your face: I don't know of a single pro-artist who doesn't have one in their kit and once you see the difference in staying-powder and finish, you'll also never be able to go without again! I know many aren't in the habit of using a powder but suggest you add this skill to your set and give Tarte's a try: their Amazonian Clay Powder is an absolute must-have for me now and I love that the "color" isn't an option!
Have you tried a finishing powder as that extra step that takes you from nice to WOW?

this sounds great!!! ive never tried tarte before!
I always use a finishing powder!
I've been planning on buying this....it's already in my cart on tarte.com (along with some other goodies...check out their sample sale that's going on right now!), just waiting to use up the rest of my MUFE HD powder, which is also a white finishing powder that I adore. However, the MUFE is 100% silica, and I prefer the idea of clay over silicones on my face. This is just the review I needed to read!

ahhhhhh! I checked my shopping cart on tarte.com, and you're right, the powder was out of stock! I had to hurry up and order it from sephora while it's still available.....should be able to report back in a couple of weeks after using for a while.

I just learned that this product was available and VOILA our lovely GG gets us a great review. Like wishfuleyes who posted just before me, I too love MUFE High Def powder. And I have a whole huge jar of it that needs to be used up. And while it is silica it does not bother my skin. It is in stock and there is a bronze version which might be very nice in the summer and might be a good reason to buy this now because I don't have a bronze finishing powder. God, I am genius!
Would love to try this for my T-zone!

Would love it!
I love this powder, it's one of my favorites.
I so want to try this!
Looks awesome. I want to reduce my pore size and I'm a less is more kinda girl.
I always use a finishing powder. I have only used one with silica though. I'd love to try the clay one out. I love Tarte!!!

karen...another MUFE HD powder fan, yeah! and you're right, it doesn't irritate my face in the least either..and I tend to be sensitive to some silicones. the only bad thing about it is that it lasts so long, it's hard to justify buying other powders to try until it's empty...and my jar has lasted nearly a year!

I always use finishing powder; it really makes a huge difference. Thanks for Meg I'm also a big Tarte fan these days too.
I have some Silk Naturals finishing powder that I use sometimes but I often forget because Tarte's Amazonian Clay foundation is so amazing that I don't even feel like I really need a finishing powder! But I bet if I used the two together my skin would look flawless. I will have to go to Ulta to check this out, thanks for the review!
lover of beauty, sharer of opinions http://prettylightsbeauty.blogspot.com/
I use the Makeup Forever HD powder and I really like how it works, I have been loving Tarte products once this HD powder runs out I am going to sample out the Tarte one
I still haven't found my HG powder but I so wanna try this and Ben Nye Banana powder!
I don't usually use finishing powder, I'm not sure why, guessing because I'm lazy :) I've never tried this brand of finishing powder, but pretty much everything I've ever used from Tarte is great, so I'm sure this is no different!
I want this!!
although I ended up ordering this powder from beauty.com, tarte sent me a promo code for 20% off the items in my shopping cart, so I gave in and should be receiving my tarte goodies soon. in the meantime, everyone should take a look at the sale they have going right now...lots of products for $10, and a set of three mini cheek stains and a ring for only $15! http://tartecosmetics.com/raf/click/?i=8z3f6y17sn

Gotta try it!

sounds wonderful! I think this is fool proof- you get the benefits of powder without wondering if the shade will match or not,,
Sounds like Tarte has some awesome products! I can't wait to try the Tarte mascara Meg sent me- too bad I just opened a different one before my package arrived, so it'll be a few months!
wishful eyes I know the MUFE HD powder lasts forever! And I have a deluxe travel size that I got as a freebie from Sephora too! But I bought the bronze Amazonian Clay Powder because I just HAPPENED to be in Georgetown and walking past the Sephora store on Monday and since I was there and it was there, I thought it would be wrong not to!
karen - that would be a crime to pass up :) the bronze powder sounds tempting to me, but i'm so pale, i'm afraid it would too fake on me. let me know what you think of it! I just received the regular finishing powder today, and so far, it seems to work exactly like the MUFE. I looked at the ingredients, and silica is the first one...so i'm thinking it's basically the MUFE souped up with the amazonian clay. even better!

I have never tried a finishing powder but will be.
Actually, NYC's astonishingly cheap (and surprisingly effective) translucent compact powder was a staple for me for a few high school years. I don't use face powder these days, because 1. I don't wear anything on my skin and just powder seems silly, and 2. It's winter right now. My skin is dull and lifeless as it is. I don't think it needs a powder. In the summer, though, I'm in the habit of occasionally stealing a friend's powder to kill the shine that heat and frequent sunscreen application gives my forehead and nose. So when I do need one, I might reach for this!
the verdict is in. i've only used this powder twice and i'm officially in love. i think the finish is even just a bit better than the MUFE HD powder, which I thought impossible. It provides ultimate shine reduction while leaving an extremely natural finish. Even up close in the mirror, it's really really hard to tell I've even used a powder at all. It also does a fantastic job of minimizing pores and making skin look absolutely flawless and smooth. I can only imagine how it's going to look in a few weeks, as it claims to actually minimize pores with continued use over time. Now that's what I call a BEAUTY product.

I've been using Physician's Formula Healthy Wear Powder lately, love it.

I have been hearing such great things about this...
I have such dry skin that a powder is NOT at all what I need. Although for gigs when I'm going to sweating thru everything I TRY and put on my face this might not be such a bad idea to help things stay put...
I haven't used liquid foundation in a long time, but when I did I _always_ used a setting powder. I think Coty was my go-to powder. Pretty good but cheap. :)
i LOVe tarte stuff, MEG got me hooked. But i have never tried this one. I am currently using b cosmetics one and love it.
who loves makeup? me me ME!
looks neat.
I started using finishing powder when I switched to minerals. Nowadays, I don't really apply foundation, but will always use a finishing powder (I prefer tinted). It's a multi-purpose product for me. As a primer, to soften heavily applied eyeshadow/blush, to set concealer and give a soft-focus look.
I can't do a full makeup without using finishing powder. I get oily quickly, and finishing powders add a few more hours of being oil-free.
Definitely want to try this out! I currently use Palladio's wet/dry powder (dry) as a finishing powder but it's nothing special - this seems like it has some great extra properties!
xoxo
I just got a sample of the HD Makeup Forever stuff. I'm not super sold, so I'd love to try this one too. I'd really love to find one that is pressed though!

I do not use finishing powder but guessing I should.
I love the look of silica powder on me, having large pores and acne scars means I can use any help I can get!
want to try this
This powder came in a Tarte set I purchased last year (forget the name of it, but I want to say Glam Bag or Glitz Bag or something like that, in a purple makeup bag), and I was excited to try it but underwhelmed when I did. I can't get it to work for me, all it did was emphasize my dry skin even though it had been exfoliated. In it's defense, I haven't found a single finishing powder that didn't do that. I have very large pores, some scars, and a determined forehead wrinkle that my foundation creases into, so I really wish I could find something that would smooth them over.
I make (and love!) my own finished powder. It's the only one that lasts, sets my makeup, doesn't make my pores look obvious, and best of all, doesn't break me out either.
It's a must try for me! ^^
Tarte is seriously one of my favorite brands. I have received 2 things from Meg of this brand (mascara and eyeliner) and they are my favorite. They could make diapers and I'd probably wear them! lol
