MAYBELLINE! EYE STUDIO COLOR TATOO 24 HOUR CREAM GEL SHADOW!
Stacy B here! It's snowing!! Finally! I never thought I'd be waiting anxiously for snow living in Boston. Usually by this time of year even I am ready for no snow and warm temps but this year it's snowed about 3 times and that's just not enough for me. We could get up to 7-10 inches tonight. I can't wait to waddle my way outside and go sledding with my son. He's been dying for snow for weeks.
The weather doesn't have anything to do with make up or skin care, no seamless transition from life to make up for me this time. My literary skills are being taken over by baby brain and this weather. I'm just so happy for the white stuff. And for our plow guy so I don't have to worry about shoveling 7 weeks before my due date...
Rumor has it around here that Meg's sending out make up point packages!! So exciting, I know. You never know what you'll find and it's always good stuff. I hear that Maybelline may be a prominent item this time around, I hope I didn't give anything away! That's great though, I just got a bunch of new stuff from Maybelline and I'm pretty happy so far. For the next few weeks I'm going to review a bunch of Maybelline products just in time for spring.
First up, an interesting little pot of eye shadow called Eye Studio Color Tattoo 24 hour Cream Gel Shadow in Audacious Asphalt. That's quite a mouthful.
I was both excited and nervous to try this. Having the name 'tattoo' in the title made me think it was really going to last. But, cream AND gel shadow? I've never been good at evenly applying any sort of cream or gel eye shadow so that caused some anxiety. And I was nervous about creasing or having it cake up by the end of the day.
So, like all good make up reviewers, I tried it in a few different ways. First, on my hand for color and smoothness, then on my eyes, applying with a finger, and then applying with a little sponge applicator.
Results are pretty good, and exactly what I expected. It lasted forever. 24-hours is not a total stretch. I put some on my hand the night i got it. I didn't purposely wash it off, or avoid washing it off, I just went about my nightly routine. I woke up the next morning, and went about my morning shower routine (again, not trying to wash it off, but not avoiding it either). It was STILL on my hand after over 12 hours a full shower and a nightly routine of washing my hands, face and son in the tub! Not entirely, but there was a decent amount of it there. In case you are wondering, nothing on my sheets, pillow or pajamas either. And yes, I use soap in the shower!
This stuff LASTS. I used it on my eyes and it was almost exactly in the same state by the time I got home from work. The pigment is very true, what you see is what you get, and it didn't clump, streak or crease. Here's my problem...I can't apply cream shadow, it's never even! I don't know why but I just can't do it. The sponge applicator helped my control, but I still felt like it took way too long to get it even on both eyes.
This wouldn't be a quick application product for me, busy days would have me using my old powder style shadows but when I have a little extra time, or a fancy place to go and want my eyes to stay glam all night, this is my first choice. It won't budge if you don't want it too and it's definitely a bold product. It required a bit of extra attention to get off, but wasn't irritating. Some of the other colors on the website are bright and fun and probably will look great in the spring and summer when colors are born again.
Overall, I really liked this and if you are better at applying cream shadow than I am, you'll probably love it!

I have not tried this yet, but have heard about it and will be trying it soon enough. I love long lasting anything.

I love when you do a review of a drugstore product because I am a makeup snob (there, I said it!) so I rarely think that anything I get from one of those brands is going to be anywhere near what they promise. And this eyeshadow seems to deliver. I think the name is overhype (combination of Kat Von D meets UD meets Smashbox meets Webster's Dictionary), but a shadow that will stay on for a full day without creasing is definitely worth looking into. What I don't like is the amount of time that it takes to apply. That is why I love the 24/7 UD eyeshadow/liner pencils. Super easy to apply and they do last. I will still give it a try. I can always hand it off to my daughter!
I have so many shadows already, but this would be good in summer heat+humidity!
I tend to have the same problem with cream shadows....most of the time it looks like I put nothing on...may've if I could master the technique, I'd like it. i'llhave to try with a sponge, as you did. I might have to pick this up just to see. i'm intrigued by the tattoo aspect...heh...my shadows always crease unless i'm using a lid primer.

Sounds very interesting! I have not tried before. Think I will love it!
I find that these are hard to apply and they disappear due to greasy eyelids. Oh well. I do like the Maybelline gel eyeliner though, it's fabulous.
Sounds interesting.. :)

I just got this in my package from Meg today in the shade Fierce and Tangy which is a pretty peachy orange. I've never really worn orange shadow and I'm not sure how it's going to look on me, but I'm always willing to try something new! I think this will be very pretty in the summer with a nice tan, some bronzer, and a peach lip - or I can use it just as a liner for a fun pop of color. Can't wait to give it a try! Thanks Meg :)

very cool!!! i saw the commercial for this and the woman has like full on BLUE shadow which was beautiful.. but in a small town where people natually are stuck in the 80s i dont wanna look like iam there too!! haha .. mayb a more natual color would be for me!
I adore these eyeshadows too! I have Bold Gold, Tough as Taupe, and Pomegranate Punk. Pomegranate Punk is such a unique color for drugstore cream eyeshadows, and it's a dead on dupe for a MUFE Aqua Cream!
Wonder if this could be used as an eyeliner? I'm going to try! I keep searching for a long lasting eyeliner that doesn't cake or flake on my "older" eyelids. Tried the Mac gel pot eyeliner and it just did't work--dried out too fast. At least I won't be wasting a lot of money on this.
I can't ever get eyeshadow to stay on my greaseball eyelids no matter what brand or primer I use, but for drugstore prices I would be very willing to give this a try. Thanks for the review!
Wanting to try these but all the colors I'd like to try have been snapped up!

i really want to try this!
I was checking these out at target the other night. I really liked only one or two of the shades, there were way too many brights for my taste. Anyway, I also suck at applying cream shadows and they tend not to last very long on me, but these sound reallly promising. Anything that can last through multiple hand washings and baths has got to be good :)
I love cream shadows, they make my powder eyeshadows last longer and provide just the right colored base! Would love to try this new line, though I wish they'd introduce a black color and a dark brown one.
never applied them!
I've heard many good things about the color tattoo cream shadows. Hope to try them soon.
Would love to try it!
I have two of these, and I do like them. I haven't used them a ton, but that's mostly because I have been trying to shop my stash lately and grab for different things every day. My big disappointment with this line is the limited selection of neutrals. I'm glad that they did a bunch of brights for those people who wear them, but I'm a neutral girl. I would love to see a couple of lighter neutrals to round out the collection.
Ive never tried cream shadows. Dont figure it would stay with my oily lids.
I really want to try this :)
I own 5 of these and really like them. The jar is huge!
Definitely something I'll try, though some more neutrals would be nice. We'll see how the application goes...
I have heard so much about the color tatoo range. High time these came here to SG too!
been wondering about this product- the colors are sooo pretty- going to have to invest in the teal or purple soon!
I've never tried a cream shadow, though I have tried gel eyeliners (with little success, I might add). My friend is obsessed with this in the taupe color, though, and apparently it really lasts. If I could recommend anything without trying it, this would be it!
I love this stuff! I have it in Tough as Taupe and it's amazing. It really does last a long long time and is the perfect base for my powder shadows.

I've heard great things about this eyeshadow! I never thought I'd be into cream eyeshadows, but I got to try Tarte's smudgeable eyeliner and used it as an eyeshadow- it was soo convenient and quick!
i have 3 of these already, just got one from MEG yay!!! I LOVE them, esp the bronze one, it is so easy to apply and gorg!
who loves makeup? me me ME!
sound interesting, if it makes my life easier i'll try it.
Sounds kinda cool. I bet they would work as a base to mix other colors as well
Thanks for the review! looks great! I currently use makeupforever's version of this, but it's a little pricey - I'll check these out next time!
xoxo
I do love these! I have all the "neutral-ish" colors and the pomegranate. I definitely reach for these super often. they wear well, and with practice I've become better at applying them!

I've heard some great things about these. So far the stores close to me have been sold out of the colors I am drawn to though.
I'm not very good with cream shadow applications, so I usually a lighter shade as an overall base and then other mineral/powder shades to complete my look. I think Maybelline would be a good alternative for trying different colours.
I havesix of them and I found that the matte shades are a bit more creamy. The shimmer ones have a slightly gritty feel to them I think because of the glitter, but its not that noticeable. They last longer, are more vibrant, and dont crease if you layer the shade at least twice. I guess the thicker on Ur lid the better the performance? But the color range is gorgeous:) there is definitely something for everyone with the colors available. At first they didn't catch my attention but then I decided to jump on the bandwagon and see wat the all the hype is about. It impressed me and I had to pick up more.
Sounds interesting
Im excited to try these out but every time i go to my neighborhood drug store, only the bright orange and blue colors are there (Im assuming that they are always sold out from the hype) :( Im more into the neautrals.
Sounds pretty good but I find creams usually settle into my crease by the end of the day. Of course I assume this one is designed not to fade and do that...
*grabby hands* :P
I've been wanting to try these, but none of the colors really get my attention. (except for the teal, but I own too many teal things already)

Sounds great :) but I don´t know how to apply it :-D
I hate having to scrub stuff off my eyes though
want to try so bad!
I love cream eyeshadow :D
