L'OREAL ! VOLUMINOUS FALSE FIBER LASHES!
Stacy B here! I should probably save my posts about waterproof mascara for a few weeks down the road when I'm either crying tears of joy over not being pregnant anymore (I mean over having a beautiful baby!! That's what I really meant!) or I'm tearing up every 5 minutes due to post-partum hormones and lack of sleep.
But, my due date is never coming. Never. I've been pregnant for my whole life and I'll never be not pregnant again. Really I have about 9-10 weeks left I'm just whining. But it does feel like forever. Even when I remind myself that I've made it through 30 weeks and 10 is practically nothing, I just keep thinking how far away mid-April sounds and how I'm only getting bigger and more uncomfortable. I'm a really bad pregnant woman. I am not full of joy and happiness and glowing like my only purpose in life was to build another human. I'm annoyed and impatient and tired and just want my body back. 40 weeks is ridiculous.
Make up is a good distraction for me since my face is one of the few things on my body that isn't changing. I have gotten a lot of new stuff lately, and am really looking forward to more spring colors. I've been using a L'Oreal mascara for a while and it's not bad. It's their Voluminous False Fiber Lashes in black. The one I have is not waterproof, but they have a waterproof one that's similar. Good thing I don't need it just yet.
The first thing that struck me about this is that it's the biggest mascara tube I've ever seen. It's longer and fatter than any tube I've had in a long time. Which is good, more product, but I get creeped out by old mascara so I like to get new tubes every new months so I'm not sure I need all that extra product. But there is definitely a lot in there!
The brush was a disappointment to me. The bristles were not very long and it took awhile for me to grab all my lashes. Especially those tiny ones near the corners of my eyes. I get mascara on my skin just about every time I use this. Thank god for my Revlon Eye Makeup Remover Pen. I don't know if I've reviewed that yet, but it's a lifesaver. Check it out if you use a lot of eye make up and hate having to start over if you mess up.
I really like wands that have the plastic bristles that are longer and thinner and less like a brush. Bonus if they are curved and match the curve of my eye lid. I need them to really pull and separate my thin and short lashes. I found that with this being more brush-like, I had to do several coats to get all the little lashes and on top of getting mascara on my eye lids and it's not curved either. I poked myself in the eye a few times. ouch.
Once I got a few coats on and really concentrated to get all the little lashes to stand at attention, the mascara was pretty good. I didn't notice a visible volume increase, but the lashes were well splayed out and seemed a bit longer than normal. I didn't have any flakes throughout the day on my face so it stayed put, but a gentle soaping got it all off at night.
This was an average purchase for me. I will probably stay with my Maybelline Great Lash for now, with the plastic bristles, but I don't regret trying this. I generally like L'Oreal products so I wouldn't call this a disappointment, it's just not a first choice. I think a bit of a brush remodel might make this a winner.
Oh and a little footnote before you all think I'm a horrible mother. I love love love my son and cannot wait to meet this new little bundle of joy, whether it's a boy or a girl. Being a mom is wonderful, I am so happy that I get to do it and am very blessed to have a body that's healthy enough to grow and give life. But good lord I HATE being pregnant. It sucks. Get me to April!
Have any of you tried this L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lashes or are you fans of their original Voluminous formula?

I have not tried the false fiber lashes but have tried the original and do like it.
Hi Stacy. I have an April baby and I think Feb was the hardest month, too. I didn't want to do the baby's room yet (superstition), it was still too far away to think TODAY COULD BE THE DAY and I had already put on 40 pounds. Tried to tell the doctor I was having a 23 pound baby. She weighed 6'7! I have used this mascara and I swear I have never poked myself in the eye so many times with a mascara wand. I know that the "experts" suggest that contact wearers not use a fiber mascara, but that has never been a problem. I got nice length, but I have good lashes (makes up somewhat for crappy hair!) so I like something that plumps them as opposed to lengthening them which I wasn't getting. There are far better drug store brands, including L'Oreal.
Have not tried this one or the original. Volume seems to mean clumps for me.
I have the original at home and like it, I haven't tried this one.
I tried this and I have to say I definitely like the original version better!
Eh, I tried this and it was an okay mascara. All I have to say is - It clumps. My favorite drugstore mascara will always be Maybelline's One by One!
ive never tried a fiber mascara, it's going on my shopping list.
<3
my fave mascara is the original one, havent tried this one but iwill give it a chance. i prefer waterproof though. hang in there your baby will come out soon enough, youll be wanting to put him back lol

I have this in the waterproof one, and it's not really my favorite either. It doesn't provide a whole lot of length and can clump if you try to apply another coat and it's already dry. I only use it once in a while and will probably just toss it out after a few months, but it was worth a shot! Good luck with your last weeks of pregnancy! My best friend was like that too - she was just so sick of being pregnant and couldn't wait to be done! It's very understandable :)

i think i tried it before,, def tried the waterproof versiona nd did not like it, it smudged like crazy. My hg one is korres absininian mascara, so great@
who loves makeup? me me ME!
I'm not a big fan of Maybelline when it comes to mascara. I know everyone rants and raves about their Great Lash, but it just didn't do it for me. I far prefer Covergirl's formulas-- the yellow "nylon" stuff is amazing!!
I've tried it, unfortunately didn't like it much.

I have not tried any mascara from L'oreal recently. The last one I tried was many years ago -- didn't like it.
I hated being pregnant too. My dh really wants another one and if someone just gave me a baby, I'd take it, but pregnant to get it? no. Sorry hunny. We have 3 and that is plenty but my pregnancies just seemed to get more miserable with each one. I can't stand the thought of another. That said, I liked the original Voluminous but I won't be trying this one. Thanks!

I haven't tried this mascara specifically, but I have tried some from their voluminous line and have been disappointed.
I love volume and I've never tried this one.Need to try it!
WOW, i was planning on trying this and no im sad. I been waiting for a really great mascara, i love false lashes but i never wear them because im not good and putting them on. Everytime i try to put false lashes on they fall off or are not on right and its a mess even when i use the DUO glue and i hear its the best.
I got this when they were giving away a ton of them for free on Facebook, but I haven't opened it up and tried it yet because I have a lot of mascaras to try. I haven't read a lot of rave reviews on it, and it'll be the first fiber mascara that I try. It makes me a little nervous since I wear contacts.
i tried the original, and they're ehhh.
I find Japanese mascaras still the best. They're fibrous, lengthening and don't clump as much.

This is SO true!
I'm searching for a good mascara. Can anyone suggest a good reasonably priced one?
Gracie
thank you for saving me from disapointment!!!!
I haven't tried the False Fiber Lashes version but I do prefer the original Voluminous mascara in the WP formula!
I'd love to try the original formula! It's that famous!
Congrats on your pregnancy and I hope April comes really really soon so you can see your precious baby!

Ive never tried mascaras from l'oreal, and I do prefer the silicone type mascara wands.
Voluminous has always bee a great product for the price. I like the WP although it seems to smear more than it did when it first came out. I will always have some kind of Volumnious aroud, but I don't think I'll bother with this fiber business.
yeah. thats cool
I like the original voluminous, but my favorite is the voluminous full volume. I tried the million lashes variety when it came out and I was sorely disappointed. I think that if I ever purchase a l'oreal mascara again, it won't be a new variety, as i've had such terrible luck with them over the past five or so years. l'oreal USED to be my favorite drugstore mascara line.

Thanks for the review, I'm a Great Lash girl myself so I probably wont give this one a second look. Actually I really love Physicians Formula organic mascara but it smudges like crazy under my eyes.
I love this formula, but I never did really like the original formula. I know some people swear by it, but my lashes are high maintenance and need a lot of help. They're pretty thick, but need length
I'm a HUGE fan of the original Voluminous, but I'm totally put off by the advertising for False Fiber lashes mascara -who do they think they're kidding with those ridiculous lashes in their promo images? For that reason alone I'm not even going to try it.
Oh how I LOVE the original voluminous mascara. It works wonders on me and has worked way better.than a lot of expensive brands. I get ridiculously long, clump free lashes with it. I'm always trying new mascaras though so ill eventually probably try out this kind too.
need to try this!
Would love to try it!
I used to use a fiber mascara made by mac, it was good but the fibers do not do what the commercials say they do. Ill stick to my Great Lash, I always come back to that.
Thanks for the review! I tend to find American brands' fiber mascaras to be lacking - if you're looking for a good one, Hermione makes a great one (at Asian supermarkets) or Fairy Drops at Sephora
xoxo
not too much of a mascara girl..
I haven't tried the False Fiber lashes yet, but do love the original. I also really love the Million Lashes mascara, probably my favorite of all time actually.

I use the original every day and love it!! I want to try this and see if it works with my lashes
i can't find any mascara that works as well for me than maybelline full'n soft.
I am a fan of the original voluminous. It rocks. And I know it's only been gaining in popularity over time!

I haven't tried this, but I probably will. I'm currently on the hunt for my HG mascara.
I like the original version. The one with the fiber clumps on me.
I haven't tried any of L'oreal mascara. would like to though.
Haven't tried either, but I'm pretty loyal to my Lash Blast.
I've never tried it, but L'Oreal as a brand never really caught my attention.
I love the original with the curved brush. It's my favorite everyday mascara, It's always simple and perfect
Loreal seems more like a skin care line to me. Don't use their makeup often
