LA COLORS! FIVE COLOR METALLIC EYESHADOW.
Stacy B here! Short and sweet this week. Well, short. Because if you don't have anything nice to say, you shouldn't say anything at all. Right? That rule doesn't seem to apply anymore, especially on the internet. It's sad really, common courtesy and being sensitive to others' feelings seem to be as dead as shoulder pads and pet rocks (oh please don't tell me shoulder pads are back in!!!) I am constantly disgusted by comments people leave on news sites, blogs and social networking sites. Not this one of course, you ladies are always fun, interesting and easy to get along with. But some other sites are just brutal! And it infuriates me that people feel so entitled to spew their disgusting insults to whoever had the misfortune of reading their comments. I'm all for our freedoms, but you can have a belief and share it without being negative, spoiled, racist, ignorant or just plain mean.
Wow, I must be having a bad week! Oh wait, my toddler had a stomach bug and I got into a car accident and was treated so badly by the first officer to respond that I filed a formal complaint and now he's under investigation for abandoning a pregnant woman and her toddler on the side of the road on a busy street in 30 degree weather. Yup, it actually happened, he was a cop in one town and I was about 50 feet over the town line so he told me to my face that he wasn't going to help me and to call the other town. And then he left. Seriously. Oh, and did I mention my husband was in Texas for the week for work so I had to call my daycare lady to come pick up my son so I could get my car towed? Ugh, get me to the weekend.
Now don't worry, I gave this week's product a fair shot before my week from hell started, it just happened to not work that well right as my life was turning upside down. Sorry LA Colors, but your 5-color Metallic Eye Shadow in Sioree just didn't cut it for me. First, the colors are so much brighter online. This was a palate that should have had a light pink a purple, a light blue, a dark turquoise and a gray. It looks more like two pinks, two blues and a gray. There is very little different between the pink and the purple and the two blues.
Second, the colors were really light, the pigment was not strong at all. And, they disappeared from my face faster than that dirty cop at my accident. It's a shame, too, the palate is small, light and easy to travel with. I would love to say how great this was but the colors left a lot to be desired.
Since I don't want to be one of those nasty people that hurls insults from behind the internet cloak of anonymity, I will say something nice. For a cheap price, this would be an adorable favor for a baby shower of someone who didn't know the gender of their baby. The pinks and blues are very cute and it wouldn't break the bank. I think most stores would carry it for less than $6 or so.
Too bad this was disappointing, I've had decent luck with drugstore eye shadows lately but I guess you have to miss once in a while.
I hope you all are having a better week than I am! And, in case you were wondering, me, the baby and my son, Kyle are totally fine.
How do you cheer yourself up! What are your indulgent pick-me-ups?

I'm sorry about your week! And I don't think I would even consider buying that palette - way too young for me.
today i got a massage and a pedicure. it cheered me up and was very indulgent, i think i get a pedicure about every 5 yrs :) i was going to be surprised if you liked this palette, as i overall think la colors' products are not good quality (hence the nice pricetag).
iam always to afraid iam going to look like the BAD 80s when i go this route!!
I'm glad you're all fine and kudos for reporting that cop!
Wow, Stacy B. I'm so sorry about your experience! That cop guy was unbelievable, and I'm just to horrified that he left you and your toddler and your unborn cutie on the side of the road. I don't care how close you were to the line between two cities. leaving a woman at the side of the road is just wrong. Grr... And to top it off, this makeup product sucked. Wow. Hopefully things start looking up from here on out! :o)

glad your all doing well and sorry you had to deal with ignorant people, that does suck! buying any beauty product is a pick me up. hope your days get better. :)

So sorry your week was so awful! I can't believe that cop just left you there!! Thanks for the honest review, I love that you guys don't always give rave reviews, you tell us what you really think!
Sorry about your week Stacy B! Eating ice cream in cold weather cheers me up, a close second is drinking thick hot chocolate in a windy night. Nothing too indulgent :)
Sorry about your week Stacy!! :( The colors are too strong for my taste, i usually use more natural’s colors.
I'm so sorry, people can say really nasty things while hiding behind their computers :( Thanks for being honest about the crappy makeup.

I'm too broke right now to really "indulge" myself much (lots of expensive house work!). But once in a while I'll shop around for nice jewelry.
I am glad you , the baby and Kyle are ok. Some cops can be such asses (sorry if any of you are cops, but I have also dealt with a couple who won't be missed on the planet if they should beamed elsewhere) and when you are in a bad situation to begin with, a touch of humanity might be nice. I find that on this blog we do a good job of agreeing to disagree, but we chose to be here and if beauty and makeup aren't your thing, there are bazillions (I wonder if you can make that word on Words With Friends???) of other blogs you can post to. And I will give you the best reason I can for having no interest in that palette: the website won't come up so I can't even evaluate price, other options, etc. Have a good weekend Stacy.
L.A. Colors has never been one of those brands that impressed me with quality despite cheapness. Those honors would go to N.Y.C., e.l.f. and Wet n' Wild. I'm so sorry you had a bad week, Stacy. But I'm happy about the honest review. Thank you!
Sorry about your week.. hopefully your weekend is going better! Cant believe a cop would just leave you. Ive never been impressed with LA colors. Their packaging is ultra cheap and reminds me something you'd buy in highschool. P
I am so glad you are all ok. That cop deserved to be reported! He should have at least waited with you til the other ones got there!!! wowI haven't ever wanted to try LA Colors. Thanks for the honest review.

I'm so sorry for the week you had, I can't believe the cop did that to you. My favorite pick up is a mani/pedi, I rarely have my nails done that when I do get them done I feel amazing.
Too bad the eye shadow wasn't what you expected. I've never tried LA Colors before and probably won't.
What an awful cop! I usually cheer myself up by doing my nails.

shopping cheers me up :)

What a crappy cop. OMG I hope you are feeling better,
Wow that cop deserves to be investigated! What the heck? I hear you about the bad week, except mine has been a bad month. Hopefully 2012 improves tomorrow! New month and all. I have never tried one of these pallets by la color but it doesn't look like something I would wear.
Aw hope the wee tod is feeling better. LA colors are a really cheap brand and sometimes that is reflected in the pigments and dyes they use, not very bright.. but other times brands like sleek come along and are also chep but have great pigment, just goes to show eh.
who loves makeup? me me ME!
So Sorry about your bad week and eyeshadow colors :-) I have found that, sometimes, even highend eyeshadows can be a bit chalky and lack pigment.
OMG lovve this i have this same pallete but smaller and its the same company and i use it everyday for some color on my lower lid. So cute love it.
Awe, so sorry to hear about your terrible week and that cop sounds like he should get fired! It reminds me of when my pregnant friend got in a car accident on an icy bridge (there were a lot of accidents at the same time but luckily no one was going fast) and the cop yelled at her for driving while pregnant and made it out to be all her fault when it completely wasn't. She should have filed a report on him too. I will pass on the LA colors since UD is my favorite - there's no problems with pigmentation there! Thanks for the quick review and hope next week is better :) Oh, and my indulgent pick-me-ups are wine and vintage rings off ebay!

I've bought at least 5 palettes in really similar shades, ALL disappointing. Maybe those colors are just always a let down. My favorite makeup pick me up is a bright coral lipstick.
I hope you're feeling better now :*
Blah to cops! I usually engage in some online window shopping (free, awesome!) or get a cheap mani.
I'm so sorry for that awful experience u had, good thing your kids and you are okay. To cheer myself up I go shopping!!!
I hate weeks like that. Being polite and considerate is so rare these days. Sorry the palette didn't work out either. At least it was cheap!
aww im sorry for your week :(i would love to try out this pallette, i wanted those kind of colors for so long!
i tend to online shop to cheer it me up...and for the palette at least you didn't waste to much money on it :)
<3
Indulgent pick me ups have to be online shopping too. Letting my fingers do the walking :)The occasional mall purchase and testing too, of course.

sounds like a horrible week! at least the palette was cheap!
Sometimes shopping cheers me up. At other times, eating. lol
Sorry for the week you had! Kisses
Retail therapy is always good when I feel bad :)
nice colors!
Oh poor Meg! I hate it when people my shyness for granted and treat me like a child! A treat is always welcome, for me, a nice cake or a nail polish!
Those are some crazy bright colors! I usually stick with food treats, but makeup is a lot more enduring as a therapy ;)
xoxo
Sure are bright colors. Never could wear pastel shadows though, maybe I ain't as bold when it comes to makeup!
sorry you went through that mess.. the colors are pretty on the pallate but I'll pass- no money to spend on mediocre products as a grad student..
whoo! those be some bright colors! thank heaven they're not that great...if they were intensely pigmented, you'd have to worry about putting someone's eye out. as far as indulging..hmn....i don't tend to hold back when it comes to much of anything....with it being the end of winter, i've mainly splurged on bath products for the past few months...lots and lots of bath bombs, bubbles, mineral soaks.....for the rest of the year, i usually pamper myself by using facial masks at least weekly. i'm currently loving borghese fango muds, but i also really love lush's fresh face masks. always a good relaxing treat after a long day or an even longer week...a facial steam beforehand really takes it to a whole other level, too.

New makeup in general always perks me up.

wow, sorry to hear that happened to you.
i like the colors
I'm not one for bright colors. They don't work on me.
I'm late with posting and I hope you're much better now. I used to indulge in indie mineral eyeshadows. Affordable with lots of colour variety to choose from. Sometimes I'll also pop into a drugstore for a lipgloss for a quick pick me up.
I think u can find these at dollar tree..
