A MAKE UP SITE WRITES A TRIBUTE TO CHRISTOPHER HITCHENS!
Disagree with me! Tell me I'm stupid, tell me why, let me learn. Let me think. Allow me to be angry with my mental short comings but let my mind expand to try to understand your point of view. Allow me the right to try to catch up, let me acknowledge there's more. I, Meg, LOVED reading Christopher Hitchens.
This isn't an "after-they-die-they're great" tribute. I "liked" Christopher Hitchen's page as soon as there was one to like.
Agree or not, the man made you think. I admire him greatly. I am only very sorry that I never took his course when I had the chance. I had no idea that he really was "terminal'. Large presence belies large longevity.
He took on "the establishment" then he took it further, he took on God. He was dying and he took on Jesus. I don't know how to measure the size of balls but that took big ones.
Whether I agree with your opinion or not, I will always respect you for having one. It's shocking to me how many don't voice their opinions. Speak up.
Do I agree with everything he wrote? Of course not. He wrote "Women Are Not Funny." I think I'm pretty funny. We'll agree to disagree.
I think he's brilliant, I think he was irreverent and brave. Standing behind your thoughts is absolutely fantastic, no matter what your beliefs are.
Here is a video where Christopher Hitchens is doing what he does best, he's doing a Hitch-Slap and every once in a while, we need one. I'm one of the "toy player's" but I so love he doesn't want to play. Other marionette's make the puppetry think.
I applaud free-thinking, I encourage dialogue, I love to be challenged. I agreed with you more Christopher then not. I would never be so brave to voice and fight on your principles. You enjoyed your drinks, you enjoyed your smokes and you went on your own terms.
Good for you.
We all could use a lesson on speaking up. We go around once. Do it! Any other Christopher Hitchen fans?

I'm with you - the world desperately needed a contentious Christopher Hitchens. When I disagreed with him, it made me think my way through my reasons. Without someone to provoke and push buttons, we don't think about what it is we stand for and why we stand for it. And you have to admire a man that went down fighting. He will be sorely missed!

I believe in speaking you mind.
I have never read anything of his :/
Agreed Meg. Chris Hitchens spoke (wrote) his mind. And while some of it could make you mad, it made you think. And I am pretty sure that thinking is on the endangered species list these days.
We do just have one chance - make the most of it! That includes speaking your mind. He definitely had a way with words & will be missed.
I've actually never heard of him until he passed. He sure is getting a lot of publicity now, I wonder why he didn't get it before?
Interesting guy. RIP Chris.
I have no idea who this guy is, or was, but that quote sure has me hooked! I'm off to find out more about him!
I actually am not familiar with him at all, but I'm a big proponent of speaking up about what you believe. And, searching for the meaning of life, taking on God and Jesus, it's all good. I think they can handle it!

I've not heard of him over here this part of the world.

My friend is a big fan of his books which is how I discovered him. He's very interesting.
iam sorry but i dont know who he is! but iam sad that he died! that is aweful!
I'll also miss him. He was, at the least, both reasonable and consistent, even if I didn't agree with some of what he said.

never heard of him. ever.
Shame, even though I never have read his stuff.
who loves makeup? me me ME!
Not familiar with Christopher Hitchens but you always learn something or someone new on this site.
Speaking your mind is of utmost importance! Otherwise you risk becoming a wall flower and being stepped on, having none of your needs met. I cannot imagine going thru life without being able to express my opinions!
I don't recall ever reading anything of his, but I also admire someone who speaks there mind and sticks behind it. I am tempted to "google" him now. :-)

I totally agree. Too many people tell us what they think we want to hear. He said what he thought with no apologies. It's a big loss.
I have not heard of him. Sad, though. RIP!

A truly tragic loss. The world will be a much less rational place without him.
I don't really know him but I do like his message and what he stands for.

I am with KingTaco on this one! Never heard of him before and now I wonder how?

I have to admit, I had no idea who this guy was until he died and stories about him appeared everywhere. After reading them, I still don't know who he is. Oh well.

I've never heard of him until now. Sounds like an interesting guy though.
I read God is Not Great, I thought it was interesting. I pretty much respect anyone who can intelligently argue why religion is corruptive. I couldn't believe all the "Christians" who said he deserved being diagnosed with a terminal illness because his beliefs weren't mainstream. Those people proved his point brilliantly.
I never read his work but I admire anyone who speaks their mind and doesn't care what other people think of it. RIP.

I have never read anything by him but I have enormous respect for people who speak their mind and aren't afraid of what other people may think.

I've never read anything of his. I actually didn't know who he was until I saw in the news that he had passed.
I have never heard of him.
I had never heard of him either. I'll need to look up some info on him.
i am not familiar with him, but i do believe we can learn a lot from other's points of view. i think there is alot to say about respectful disagreement though. i feel that our culture has lost the ability to disagree and/or argue our point respectfully. nowadays everyone resorts to personal attacks and it's really sad.
We always need politically incorrect journalists! I'm outraged by how judgmental and censorship-hungry we are towards people who have their personal views!
Honestly I never heard of him until now, but he seems like he was truly an inspirational person. I'm sorry he passed.
xoxo
Never heard of him...
This is very interesting.
Thanks!
I too must admit that I hadn't heard of him until he passed, I know he was important for many of my friends though!
never heard of him?
I read several of his books. Fantastic writer.
Never heard of him :-(
i've never heard of him
Never head of him but I'm sorry to hear he's passed on. I think more people need to speak up, but they need to listen too. I'm a very open-minded person and like discussing things with people, but there are too few rational people who can listen and explain why they disagree without being belligerant or nasty about it. So I always appreciate the few who can agree to disagree, or *gasp* re-evaluate their own beliefs as necessary.
I haven't heard of Chris Hitchens either, but if Meg gives him the thumbs up, then I definitely don't mind checking him out! :D
