3LAB! "M" CREAM!
Meg here! Baby it's cold outside, it's been dipping in the low 60's here in Los Angeles. I know, cold is relative, OK?
I've been traveling back and forth NYC-LA and it's definitely been logging some miles on my skin. I'm usually pretty oily and only get a bit dry on my cheeks, not so much this past week. I don't know if it's possible but my face has completely decided to change tone. Friday night I was parked on my couch, I had two parties to attend and I was too exhausted to move, plus my face hurt. Yes, my face felt chapped, my lips were dry and I was in no mood to put on my dancing shoes. The only place I could motivate was to my powder room's mirror. I didn't like what I saw there much either. My skin was actually flaking. I had manage to do it. All of my skin drying flying had given me what looked like face dandruff. Sexy.
It was time to pull out the big guns. I have had a jar of 3Labs "M" Cream sitting in my product cabinet for a couple of months. I never touched it. It was in reserve for a special time of emergency.
I read all about this product online, and this line caught my eye "The first cosmetic product that contains stem cells from the rare Uttweiler Spatlauber Swiss apple, SO RARE THAT ONLY THREE TREES REMAIN IN EXISTENCE!?
| What? Only three trees? I had to, as my grandmother says "go to The Google" and look up this magic tree. On Google it said there were 20 in existence and that Michelle Obama is a fan of this magical ingredient for keeping wrinkles at bay. 20? Well, that's rare but it's not THREE. I was a little nervous to open this jar when it was 3. I mean, what if I totally fell in complete obsession with this potion and then it became extinct? I've been trying to be a little more careful about opening my heart and getting hurt by love. What if this cream lead me on? Pretend to heal and replenish my skin, got me all glowing and healthy...And then left me? Hmmm? Hmmm, what then?
I realized I was being too pessimistic, there are other creams in the sea, uh store. Thank goodness I decided to take the plunge because while it's early, I don't want to dive into "love" I can tell you I am in deep, deep like. I unscrewed the jar and the moisturizer is thick, but not pasty. It's divine, I could feel my parched face literally drink it in. Now here's something I'm very happy with, while the lotion seeped into my skin it didn't disappear. It left a soft barrier. A "face dandruff" preventer if you will. Tip from Dr. Barney Kenet: Moisturize your face when your skin is still a bit damp. A moisturizer should trap water in your skin. You only have about a minute from the time you get out of the shower to get your moisturizer on for it to properly work. This I did not know... Is it expensive? Yes, it's pretty expensive, $260 on the site. Unfortunately, that's not even "expensive" for high-end, schmancy stores. I kid you not, I got the Bergdorf's catalog and the medium face moisturizer was around $400. Right? But you know, there are only around 20 trees left... |

I worked with 3Lab for a while, selling their products when they were just a little company. I have used almost all the products consistently and think they are obscenely overpriced. The best one turned out to be the sunscreen for me. However, my mom likes the M cream and W cream. Don't believe they're worth the money.
omg hi.
Yes, way overpriced. That apple stem cell business is a bunch of hooey -- unless you ARE an apple there is no benefit.
Wow that is pretty rare, 20 - in the world. I don't think that will stay on the continued list. I like using La mer and DDF products (cream and vitamin C serum) to keep moisturized. So far so good, the windy city isn't below zero so far, hopefully it will be awhile and my skin care regime stands a chance.

Wow that's really rare! 3 trees left in existence? Hah! I don't think it's worth the money, but looks and sounds really good!
i get peely flaky skin every winter.... altho so far this year i've head it off at the pass. sweetsation therapy - their aquatica night cream & the baby choco/calendula cream & balm stick are skin savers (and combined don't even reach that $260 price tag that is WAY outta my league). i found them when i was
looking for a chemical free sunscreen w/a high spf (50)... they get great ratings on ewg's skin deep safe products. www.ewg.org
I have already bought myself an iPad for Christmas so where I will get the money for 3Lab I do not know. Is there an ap on the iPad for making money? The weather here in the DC area is freakishly warm for December. Um, don't tell Meg, but it has been in the60's. So I am not having a big problem with dry skin yet. The face is hanging on (by a string of collagen) and the feet are quite nice thanks to putting moisturizer on before I put on my socks and running shoes. I am going to check out the products that roxtarchic mentioned. I can't risk falling in love with a $250 product when there are college tuitions to be paid.
When it starts to get cold in Wisconsin my skin goes into tight dry flaky mode and if I don't take care of it right away it's clogged pore city! Right now I am using Passion Fruit Seed oil every evening with Burt's Bee's Sensitive Skin moisturizer over the top, and then just the moisturizer in the morning by itself. So far it's working out very well for me - I always worry about moisturizers breaking me out, but this Burt's Bee's one is really great and hasn't give me one clogged pore or blemish. It absorbs very quickly, isn't greasy, and provides a nice base for foundation. 3Lab is much too expensive for me, but I'm so happy you are in 'deep like' with the results!
lover of beauty, sharer of opinions http://prettylightsbeauty.blogspot.com/
not heard of this brand before, i love this site , it is always edumacating me.
who loves makeup? me me ME!
Sounds a bit like a scam, especially for that amount of money. I know good moisturizers are hard to find, but they exist for a lot less than $400!
wow!! bought BF a 480$$ tool box for X mas so thats out for me!! iam scared that i will fall in love with it.. then have to take a loan out to keep it in my life! hehe
Wow, expensive! Too expensive for me, even if there were only 3 trees lol.Consistent use of jojoba oil spritzed with a hydrosol balanced out my skin and I dont get flakies much anymore :o)

Mmmm, apple. I basically love anything involving the word "apple." My favorite fruit, my second-favorite scent of all time (second only to plumeria) and DEFINITELY worthy of a makeup buy! However, $260 is way more than I have in my pocket, especially around Christmas season. I guess this one will have to wait.
Oh I would love an extra hydrating cream. lotion just seeps into my skin and disappear, I get dry in 2 secs. This product looks fantastic though :D I love anything in a heavy looking container!

I have really decided to give nautral oils a shot, especially since I've learned that a big cause of adult acne is dry skin, rather than oily skin! It seems to be true. Right now I put Josie Maran pure argan oil on my face when I first wake up, and wash it off with a gentle cleanser about an hour later before I begin my AM routine. At night I often give my face a break from Retin A by with seabuckthorn oil. I rub it in and the next day the habitual flakies I have from having to use Retin A and benzoyl peroxide are pretty much under control, and it doesn't seem to be causing any rbreakouts either.
Yowch, that is too expensive for me!
That's pretty expensive. But if the cream works... hmmm... off to 3LAB's website!
ETA: I checked the ingredient list and was bummed. Silicones don't work for me!! :(
Way too expensive for me. Thanks though!
Gracie
Wow! a bit too pricey for my budget!! I've had pretty good luck with my good ole mary kay facial moisturizer, and I live in dry skin country, it does a good job for me!
way too much money! .... Image skin care is one of the best lines Ive found and WAY cheaper than what this goes for. OUCH!
No chance - way too expensive!
I don't really want to participate in exploiting an already scarce resource.

only three trees left?? I'd feel pretty bad using this product. I'll just stick to shea butter to keep my skin moisturized during the WindPocolypse!
It's way too expensive for me. $260 for 2 oz? I think I'll stick with Philosophy's Hope in a Jar ($38 for the same size). I really like Dr. Barney Kenet's tip. Thanks for sharing. :)

I'm now using oils (Tarte has a nice one) mixed in with my moisturizer with an added boost to keep my skin moisturized.
That tree thing is interesting. It makes me want to do more research. Like, is that a renewable resource, or are we depleting some forest (though it be small!) I'm staying moisturized with my Ahava products! I love them so much!
My Blog: http://rubysrigmarole.blogspot.com/
I used the classic Nivea moisturizer, but it's a bit too oily for my skin, so I'm still looking for a moisturizer that works for me.
People will think I am crazy but I use vaseline. My mother-in-law used it and did not have a wrinkle on her face at 84.
I customize my own bodycare and skincare products, add extra oils and moisturize more often the drier parts.Nothing beats shea butter for me.
I use Clinique and Cetaphil skincare. They work but my skin still feels dry. My mom is obsessed with high end skincare but she said they actually work.
This is so funny! I'd not be able to use this cream if I knew there are only 3 trees left! What if this is the best cream ever but with only 3 trees left 3Lab would run out and discontinue it?
The price is too much for my budget. The rare trees are interesting though.
This sounds nice but holy cow is it expensive! I would never be able to pay that- I am way to cheap. ;) I use Cerave lotion and mix it with shea butter at night and I haven't had a problem with dry skin- and I live in a very dry climate.
Whoa that is super expensive, way out of my budget unfortunately :(I may have to invest in a facial spray or something because I have to use acne cream before my moisturizer so my skin isn't damp by the time I use my moisturizer!
Never heard of this product before today. With it being so expensive, I probably wont be trying it in the new future.
Thanks for the tip about moisturising.

out of my price range.. sticking with vitamin c serum and shea butter for winter harsheness at bay
OMG sounds amazing but completely out of my reach =`(

Leave the 3 trees in peace lol
http://lipglossfiend.wordpress.com
Too expensive for me. I hope scientists are looking for ways to propagate the trees.
20 trees left?! that's pretty rare..
I think I got a sample of this in some kind of pay to sample thing. I ended up giving it to my Mom she absolutely loved it. When she ran out, she looked it up online to buy more..her love affair quickly ended lol. I cant imagine paying that much for skin care.
I agree with most of the other ladies - too expensive!!! If I had the money to burn, maybe. As it is, I have oily skin, so dryness isn't much of an issue.
whoa i don't think i could pay that for skincare, unless i was the first lady, but sounds great! and you know, my skin did a 180 on me once. i was all dry though, and then i got oily all of a sudden.
Sounds like a beautiful product but WAY out of my price range! Really appreciate the tip about moisturizer though, as I was not aware!
xoxo
I'm currently using LRP moisturizer. I doubt I will purchase something made with very limited resources - I would be worried about renewability.
In Asian skincare, you basically have 3 seconds to apply your lotion after cleansing! It's written in detail here : http://hope-inablog.com/beauty-articles/the-beginners-guide-to-asian-cosmetics-part-4-the-asian-skincare-routine/
this looks good. but very expensive too.
Way too expensive!
Wow the price tag alone has me worried! If I could afford to spend that much money I might try it, but I am just beefing up my winter routine with a heavier face moisturizer at night time.
