AUBREY ORGANICS! ROSA MOSQUETA NIGHT CREME WITH ALPHA LIPOIC ACID!
Stacy B here! Anyone still stuffed from Thanksgiving? I'm still making leftover sandwiches and crock potting my way through way too much turkey. And don't even get me started on the desserts, these maternity pants have crushed all will-power since they just keep expanding with me! I justify it by saying the baby needs Thanksgiving treats too! I hope everyone had a fun-filled, relaxing holiday spent with all the right people.
It's still unseasonably warm in the north east right now, we've been over 60-65 degrees for weeks. Rumor has it this will be one of the warmest Novembers on record for us. I'll take it! It will be cold and snowy soon enough (and for long enough!) It's been great for my skin though, it hasn't been that dry yet so my face looks pretty good. Well, aside from the complete and total lack of color since summer was months ago. Thank you bronzer! I haven't really needed the heavy duty night cream yet but I did just open up a new bottle of Aubrey Organics Rosa Mosqueta Night Crème with Alpha Lipoic Acid
. It's probably a great time for me to try something knew since if it doesn't work, I'm not parched like a desert with skin cracking in the cold wind.
This was a pretty good lotion, but didn't blow me away. My first complaint is that it's a pump that required about 50 pumps to get some product out. My complaint isn't the pump, I prefer products that pump, it was the amount of work it took to get some out. I finally got a dab on my finger and noticed the bottle looked like I had used almost 1/3 of the product! I realize there will be some settling and you can't fill the bottle to the very top, but this seemed excessive. It also said 'shake well' on the bottle but it's a really thick lotion that doesn't mix much when you shake it, and with the pump increased to pumping level there's no room to shake it. Those directions were weird to me.
It was thick, which I like, and I only needed one pump to cover my face, which I also like. I hate having to use a ton of product, just a little should go a long way. It had a peculiar smell to it...Not quite medicinal, but along those lines. Almost like a prescription strength lotion that tried to mask the medicine with a heavy lotion/soap-y scent. I asked my husband and he said "you smell like Kyle's butt". Awwww marriage is full of wonderful moments, isn't it? I know I had that "did you really just say that?' look in my face because he immediately said, "don't worry, I mean like AFTER you change his diaper". Ooooooohhh, so much better. After my wifely sigh and one-eyebrow lifted glare, he finally said that it smelled good, but it reminded him of the diaper rash cream we use occasionally. OK great, so now my face smells like Desitin? I have to admit, he was right. That was the closest I could come to a scent for this lotion.
It wasn't too strong of a scent so it didn't linger but I still felt a little gross going to bed with something that smells like butt ointment on my face. Doesn't exactly inspire romance either.
I woke up the next morning (no smell) and my face felt moisturized and fresh. I was pleasantly surprised. I continued to use it for a few days before I noticed my face started to feel a little oily. This is not oily skin weather, this is dry skin weather so I got nervous. I took a night off and it felt much better. I thought maybe I was just using too much so I used only about 3/4 of a pump and after a few days, same thing. Oily. And this time, I had some breaking out. I had to drop this down to a few times a week. It's thick and moisturizes, but it went overboard a little. And I just couldn't get used to the smell. I will probably save this and use it on occasion but it will not become part of my daily routine.
How about you? Any Aubrey Organics fans out there? What face creams do you think have the best scent?

Can't say I tried this but love using creams with natural acids in them. La mer has a pleasant scent and also when I used Olay there products also had a pleasant scent. I know I dont want my face products to smell like perfume because that is just extra chemicals they are adding, but the smell of dirt or medicine doesn't appeal to me. There are many essential oils they could/should add to help the scent be natural yet pleasant. Just my opinion. And yes, baby does need a thanksgiving treat, you did good!! :)

Sounds like this product would be a pass for me. I'm with you: I like a little to go a long way. But the smell? That's a big turn off for me. No offense to Kyle, but I don't want to smell like his butt at all -- whether before or after the diaper change!! hahaha. So funny. (Aren't husbands lovely people to help us figure out how we smell?!) So, thanks for the honesty in your review. I'm gonna pass for now. :o)

:))) nice description of the smell...at least honest :))i think i'll pass but thanks for the review
butt smell...interesting :)
I don't think I've ever used Aubrey Organics before but I see it all the time at Whole Foods. I don't think I'd like the scent though.
Hmmm maybe something oily would be good for me since my skin is ALWAYS dry.
I have never tried Aubrey Organics, but I see the products at Whole Foods so I am curious. I was hoping that this would be the product that was so good I would have to drive over there in my jammies and get some. I am not moving. I do not want to smell like Desitin. It also sounds like the product is not packaged correctly. If you need to pump the product until you develop a callous then you need a different dispensing method. Thanks for a great review. Even when a product doesn't deliver the results you hope for, we benefit from the information you post.
It's a shame that it's so hard to get the product out of the bottle. I don't think that I will be purchasing it any time soon...
Aubrey is hit or miss for me. Mostly miss. Their honeysuckle rose conditioner, that I did like.

Thank you for the honest and detailed review. Apparently, the product works but is a hassle.
I prefer face creams where I cannot detect the scent. I like LRP and Avene moisturizers. These are not exactly natural brands but they are quite well priced and effective.
Actually I believe Rosa Marqueta oil was used for healing severe burn scars and is very powerful on it own. I just think you have to use it sparingly. Aubrey products seem to be that way too. They use a lot of powerful natural ingredients but they can still give varied results to different people. I love all their hair conditioners for my wild dry curly hair.
I've not used this brand before. Thanks for your review!
my esthetician always warns me about over the counter/drug store buys, they can only moisturize. If I need more out of my products, I go to the professional skin care lines. Are there any reviews on those products?? or is it just what you can buy at the drug store or wal mart, etc?
i'm having trouble posting... for some reason. but i love aubrey organics! they're fantastic.
Thanks for your review!! I guess this isn't a product that I need!!
I gotta be honest, I prefer creams in jars instead of pumps. I feel like pumps waste so much product, although I know a pump is more hygienic.
I've never tried anything fro Aubrey Organics, and I think I'll give this product a miss. I love me some smelly body lotions, but on my face is probably overkill
<3
I haven't tried any products by Aubrey Organics yet. I think the Embryolisse face lotion has the nicest scent, although I'm biased because I love love love the product
i really like the review... and the produc! used this once, nice smell!
I'm a fan of Aubrey Organics however I believe I will steer away from this product. I dont use a lot of items on my face in the evening, usually just a normal lotion and I can become pretty oily and break out with products like this one, I wont mention my thoughts on the fragrance. Thank you for the review!!
I have never tried their stuff
I haven't tried anything in this line. But, scent is a big deal to me and so is oily and breakouts. I think I'll skip.

I find this happens to me quite often when I try to use organic face creams. Not sure why though
I have never tried this brand. Smell doesn't bother me too much if the product works great, but if it doesn't then it's not worth it. Right now I'm using Burt's Bee's Sensitive Skin moisturizer and I really like it for daytime, but I do wish they made a heavier version for a night cream. It's been getting dry and cold outside and I need something heavier for at night that doesn't break me out. I might get Kiehl's again, I really loved it when I tried it.

i like their Vit c one.. i like this brand a lot.
who loves makeup? me me ME!
I've never tried this brand before, but the smell sounds awful! Baby products smell terrible to me and the oiliness on this lotion sounds like it wouldn't be for me.
Bad smell is definitely a no-no! I can get by on "medicinal," because sometimes it feels like it must really be working, but eegh. And oily is a HUGE no-no. So, definitely a pass. The packaging is so pretty, even though "mosqueta" reminds me of "mosquito"... I've heard the Aubrey Organics name a lot, but never tried anything. Organic products don't always work like they're advertised, so it's always a toss-up between "good for me" and "makes me look good!"
I love Aubrey Organics shampoo and conditioner. My favorite organic shampoo by far!

Definitely sounds like something I wouldn't use, but I'm glad for the review so I make SURE I don't use it. Thanks!
Hmm, this doesn't sound like it's for me if it leaves you oily. My t-zone is super oily and doesn't need any help getting any more oily! lol. Thanks for the review, I'll know to avoid this creme!
I've never tried Aubrey Organics. I might try their products in the future, but it's not going to be this night cream. I appreciate your honest review. :)

I'm a big fan of alpha lipoic acid, I'll have to give this a try. I don't know what diaper cream smells like, so hopefully I'll be less grossed out by the smell :-)
I love Aubrey Organics, but I have not tried this particular cream, good to know about the oily thing, creams that are too heavy break me out so I will have to stay away.
I've never tried any of Aubrey Organics' products, but this one sounds good. I love the packaging the most!
hmmmm, the scent of Desitin, you say? I will pass, lol.
Never heard of it.
will try it
Some of the Estée Lauder face creams smell really good. They have a floral scent.
this sounds like it would be a pass for me.. I am using vitamin c serum for undereyes from lumince in cvs and it is wonderful..
Never heard of this brand before...But sounds good :)

Thanks for the honest review.. I think I'll pass hahaha (don't want to smell like diaper rash cream LOL)

My face is so oily that I skip on facial creams. I do like using jojoba oil, which feels light on my skin.
I have combination skin so honestly this product seems like it'd be a nightmare for me! Thanks for the review.
xoxo
I've never heard of this brand. I haven't really jumped into the whole night cream thing yet, I use a gel moisturizer from clinique 2x a day.. I think its dramatically different, anyway, its really light and doesn't break me out. For the most part, I have horribly oily skin so this would be terrible for me and probably break me out.
the conversation with your hubby made me LOL! haha. i have heard of aubrey organics but don't think i've ever tried anything from them. IIRC i think i've heard good things, but based on your review i'll pass on this one...although i am interested in a lotion with ALA.
I like Aubrey Organics, but in general I prefer non-fragranced face products.
Living in the middle of nowhere, I don't have access to Aubrey Organics unless I were to purchase it online, and I haven't seen enough on the brand to warrant looking for it online. I think I'll pass for the time being.
sounds good.
