AGE BEAUTIFUL ! ANTI-AGING PERMANENT LIQUI CREME HAIRCOLOR!
Alright people! How many of you out there have used OVER-THE-COUNTER-HAIR-COLOR before! I'm betting a HUGE amount of the Meg empire who read reviews here HAVE used or... 'gasp' ARE currently using OTCHC! How many times have you read on this website that it's a BAD idea to color your own hair! That's right! It's not ever recommended but...WE STILL DO IT! Sing with Jeanasina...”Ain't no mountain high enough...to keep me from coloring my own hair!”
I have been coloring my hair since I was out of high-school and ladies...I graduated from high-school in 1966! Read it and SHUDDER!~ I'm having the dry heaves just writing that fact!~ My point, however, is that I have put MY hair through the mill over the years! It's almost shocking! If I were to make a documentary of every insanity driven hair color story I ever experienced...well it make for one incredibly long and appalling you-tube video! I have been fortunate because apparently I have good hair genes! I have survived many hair apocalypses!
I think I have tried pretty much every brand of hair color out there that is in one way or another purchased over a counter! Keeping that in mind, you should be aware that I STILL am ALWAYS on the prowl for a new hair-color product because I constantly believe that there STILL has to be SOMETHING, yet to be discovered, that is going to be BETTER than any of the over-the-counter-hair-coloring-products I have used so far!
Which leads me to today's presentation! How many of you shop at Sally Beauty? I'm guessing that around the globe there are Sally Beauty stores in most of your areas! If you are familiar with Sally's you know that it's a FUN place to shop for hair products! Recently I felt the need to browse Sally's and see if there was something in the store that I could use to do my roots. My roots are constantly screaming “People can see us!” My regular favorite at Sally's is Clairol's Professional Coloring Cream which contains Soy Complex! I love that stuff but it fades too fast!
I looked at all the brands Sally's carries and that's when my Jeanasina scanner zoomed in on Age beautiful hair anti-aging permanent hair color! Now, instead of continuing to completely dazzle you with my personal opinions and always beautifully executed words, I'm going let YOU read some of the product information that sucked me into buying a tube of AGE beautiful hair color!
Here we go...“As we age, our hair experiences 5 signs of aging. It loses volume, manageability, color, moisture & shine. AGE beautiful anti-aging hair color is the first color with Melanin, Keratin Peptide & a patented conditioning technology with Silk Protein to replenish hair with the essential components that are lost with aging.”
Those sentences lured me in! My roots are a dreary shade of ickda' gray mixed with some dull white. I live the life of a blonde bombshell in my mind – my roots are telling a different story! So... I do my own roots – APPROX EVERY 4 WEEKS! You can hear me shouting “Be gone satan!” as I use a hair coloring paint brush to paint new color over my roots!
Hold on everybody! I should back track and tell you that when you buy hair coloring products at Sally's...it's an entirely different ballgame than when you go to the drugstore and purchase everything you need in one handy kit! If you purchase color at Sally's you have to get rubber gloves, a mixing bowl & brush or a squeeze applicator plastic bottle; hair color and developer! So...you have to really be a bit invested when you buy hair color products at Sally's! But...if you like Sally's then the cost kind of evens out after you acquire some of the things you will use over and over again! You are playing in the bigger leagues when you start using hair color from Sally's! Professional hair stylists AND the guy on the street BOTH shop at Sally's for hair color products! Professional hair stylists DON'T shop at the drugstore for their hair color!
To continue...you mix equal parts hair color and developer and stir.. I paint my roots with with the mixture using a hair color brush after parting it in a billion 4th inch partings. I set the timer for approx 45 minutes and then rinse it out and THEN … blow it out, and THEN see if I am doing confident blonde gyrations or screaming seething expletives!!”
What I like...the AGE beautiful color REALLY covers the gray~! Wow! It also lasts longer in it's coverage of the gray! What I didn't like...the color was DARKER than what I expected. I purchased 10G which is 'very light golden blonde' and I expected it to be a lot lighter! The 10G I purchase in my other brand at Sally's comes out a lot lighter!
Now you DO know that you should 'Always perform a preliminary patch test prior to using hair colors.' right? Here's a diabolical frowny-face secret...I have NEVER performed a preliminary patch test – EVER! How wrong am I? How can I offer any decent hair coloring advice if I don't take the hair coloring advice of experts in hair coloring instruction pamphlets? This is a full-blown travesty! Also..if you are used to using brand-name boxed coloring kits from the drugstore, purchasing hair color from Sally's might be a bit intimidating to you.
There is a nice little video below you can watch to learn more! The cost is approximately $5.99. Check it out! There's a lot of information on the AGE beautiful website as well as reviews from actual users on the Sally Beauty website!
Who else loves Sally Beauty Supply? What do you get there? Anyone else love Age Beautiful Hair care?
Now just to be clear...I am NOT advocating for any of you to color your own hair! If you can afford it – I recommend letting the professionals handle your hair color needs!
My experience has been good so far and I've used it twice..but like I said, I wish the color was a little lighter. I personally don't pull it all the way through my hair because my hair is WORN out! If I pulled it through every 4 weeks...I'd have old stuffed animal hair by now! I love the color of Gwyneth Paltrow's hair (that's what I am going for) and this color is more like warm golden sand at the beach. It's a rich color!
If this was show and tell, is there a box (any brand) of hair color somewhere in your house that you could hold up right now for the class to see? Have any of you, besides me, tried AGE beautiful hair color or other products in the line?
Until we meet again...

I like Sally's a lot. My nail files, China Glaze and Hair One cleansing conditioner all come from Sally's. It's a fun place. I've never colored my hair. I keep meaning to, but I'm afraid it will be one more thing I have to keep up. When I do finally do it, I'm going to leave it to the professionals for my first time. But I do like that models hair...
I have used OTC hair colour before and it didn't turn out as I expected. I think if I were to try to diy my hair colour again, I would go with the dye that foam upon application. It seems to be easier to apply and spread evenly.
Umm I have never heard of Sally Beauty. Anyway, you guys must be mind readers because I *JUST* coloured my hair 2 hours ago and I came home to see this post! Yeah it was a salon job and cost a bomb! I wish I could colour my own hair properly, that would save me a lot of money. I could never get it even though, especially at the back because I can't really see what I'm doing!

Love Sally's! Brand new really chock-full one just opened not too far from me (all relative when you live in the boonies,LOL!) I get nail products, fun things for the bath, hair pins and brushes,Ardell and other lashes...you can enroll in their "club" (I think it's $5.00 a year or something...) and get coupons,etc...it's VERY comprable to Ulta and a LOT cheaper! There is always "something" cool in there to tempt and the nail polishes are so great, they change stock frequently! I do NOT color my own hair: I rely on my "several shades of red that change with the seasons" to be a BIG part of my look and it's an accessory for me that I depend on to always be "me" and I just wouldn't risk a negative outcome BUT have heard the really good employees in Sally's (you used to need a liscense to work there, not sure anymore) gving some GREAT advice to the customers so I'd say it's as close to pro as you can get:)How great that Jeana clued us in to this gem!!!
I do color at home, but I use the 28-day stuff, not the permanent. That way I don't commit to a color, and I can change it up with my mood or the season. I tend to go darker in winter, lighter in summer, but sometimes I like red.
I always make a mess when i try to color or glaze my hair on my own.. I might try the foam version.. seems to be a safe bet not to get too messy and save some dinero!
I'm like KayMack. When I have the urge to color my hair, I go for the 28-day kind. I'm too lazy to keep it up constantly. However, that may be changing soon and I'm getting too many white hairs coming it. *sigh* I don't have a favorite drugstore color. I'm still looking for a really good one. The couple that I have used recently didn't really change my color much at all.
I haven't used box colour in years. I'm just no good at it. I do like "shine happy" which just makes your hair more shiny.
I'm back to using box colours, back to the black hair that I adore. I use Napro Palette and I think it's pretty alright.. colour fades on me pretty fast anyway so I'm not sure how to judge it. I would never go to a salon to colour my hair unless it was as cheap as this (at $7.80, I doubt that'll happen!), I don't see the point as I'm going darker. If I was going lighter, I'd probably go to a salon.
wow this is interesting. anti aging hair colouring?! i'm not big on colouring my hair but i should look into this for my parents

I love love love Sally Beauty! There were even 2 in Osaka, Japan were I lived for a year, so I had fun browsing (and sometimes buying!) all the interesting and different items. Aaaand I just got out of the shower from coloring my hair - what an exciting friday night, putting in the blond from a box. I don't like the brand I bought so I will definitely try Age Beautiful next! Let's get real - I need all the anti-aging help I can get and my greys are STUBBORN. Thanks for this review!
i used to do box colors all the time when i was younger, i would buy 2 because my hair is so thick and long, it was so fun! i went all shades of auburn, dark brown, orangey, adding some fun to my normal boring mousey brown hair. ive never gone all over lighter cos i have curly hair and am scared of drying it out, but the semi-permanents looked great, i feel like trying it again actually.
who loves makeup? me me ME!
I've never used it, but whenever I get the urge to color my hair I always do it at home. The only time I didn't was when I was getting highlights, but I find it too drying to go much lighter anyway, so I'm comfortable going only slightly lighter or going all shades of darker at home, and *knock on wood* have never had bad results yet. But now I probably will. Only because I said that I haven't.
I've had too many bad store bought colour jobs. I just think of the money I spend at the salon as part of my all over maintenance. Plus, she can talk me into highlights or lowlights like nobody's business!!
I don't get the urge to color my hair - I get completely overtaken by NEED! My hair grows so fast that every 3 weeks the roots really need to be done and I am not a brunette gone blond. I am a dark brunette gone light brunette. There is not one product I have tried from the drugstore that covers all of the gray - even Clairol's NO GRAY. I have also tried that add in product NO GRAY, using both of the packets. I should have drunk them (KIDDING) and they might have worked better. While I am not a Sally's regular I would make a trip to pick this product up. Interestingly, I just got a box of the new John Frieda foam hair color as an InStyle survey participant and am going to give it a try tomorrow.
I used to do OTCHC but finally reached a point where I couldn't/didn't want to continue to do the upkeep. I realize I am in the minority but I am in the process of switching to the silver that is so intent on taking over my head. New growth on my sides is almost completely white. I used to be brunette or auburn but went blonde with help from my stylist when I started this process. I have to admit being blonde has been a lot of fun! I do like the One 'n Only Shiny Silver Ultra Shine Spray from Sally's.
Nice
OMG Jeanasina - we seem to be on a wavelength... I JUST USED THIS COLOR LAST WEEK. I read many reviews online and was forewarned about the color being "darker" than most expected... so when I purchased... I went for ONE shade lighter (i wanted a medium ash brown to tone down the natural red that our well water pulls out in my hair SO i got the dark ash blonde). My roots and the few "strays" that were mocking me had about an INCH of growth (i didnt have enough of the previous color i was using - robert craig) so... I was OVERDUE.... and my application of it was seamless... the smell wasn't really bad at all (after the initial mixing).... and I was pretty sure I was pleased.... UNTIL I RINSED & it turns out everyone else's idea of DARKER.... isn't mine. My roots were LIGHTER than I had started out with... UUUUGGHHHH- that was a whole 1/2 hour PLUS that I wasnt getting back AND because I was soooo sure all those reviews I had read would be dead-on.... I didnt even THINK to get a darker shade 'just in case'.... SO next morning (AS SOON AS SALLY'S OPENED - 9:00 there i was) I went in and got my - medium ash brown. redid the roots... 1/2 the time and this color is PERFECT... NOTHING HAS COVERED MY "STRAYS" like this color... and there was NO SMELL when I rinsed my hair.... and that's HUGE to me because really.... there's always that tell-tale smell & everyone knows.... *sniff* oh yeah she just colored that hot mess of hair.... there was NONE of that stank... my hair - SHINY and smooth, I don't use conditioner after I color because I feel like it just strips the color out - so I don't condition and I won't wash for a few days & let the color set. I'm really thrilled w/this brand.... and even tho I should have been p!ssed off.... I'll keep coming back to it because it rocks. A week later... looks yummy - still shiny & smooth. It's quite possibly my Holy Grail of hair color!
Never tried this, don't dye my hair but when I start going gray I just might :)
lover of beauty, sharer of opinions http://prettylightsbeauty.blogspot.com/
I no longer color my own hair at home...too many green hues over the years!! I'd rather just pay for it!But I do love Sally for my China Glaze nail polish!
Wish there was a Sally's near me! I don't dye my hair but if I ever do, I will look for this! :)

Never colored my hair before and don't think I'd ever want to.
I am too lazy to do sally haircolor. I did when I was younger but like the boxes with everything
no, I will not do my own hair either. I also never heard of Sallys, we definitely dont have that where I live.
I dont dye my hair anymore but when im older i might try this.
Lucky for me my hairdresser is really cheap so it's not too pricey for her to color my hair. When my hair was super short I was always at Sally's getting different colors. It's a fun store to poke around it...I always found something new.
Hi! I'm so glad you like the product! I spoke with the people at Age Beautiful, and this is what they recommended to get the lightest color:"10G and 30 Volume will get to the lightest result. It is important to be generous in product application.
10N or 10A will add depth to color result, making it appear less brassy but not necessarily lighter."If you have any questions, feel free to email me!SallyBeautyBlog.com
ive never dyed my hair before. my hair is the blackest of black, and it would take too much to actually color my hair
never heard of these
didi
never died my hair
Hmmm...I've never heard of Sally's but it sounds intriguing, I've never dyed my hair, but my mother has all her life... with a nice deep condition every couple of weeks her hair still looks great after all these years! C:
i will try this
Just bought it but haven't used it yet! Will update when I do!
i've never used the Age beautiful product, and i've actually never dyed my hair. so in the near future i do plan on dying my hair at the salon.
xoxo
Looks good!
The only times I've ever colored my hair, I've done it myself or with friends. I have brown/black hair with natural red highlights so I just gave my hair more red highlights. I just can't do the upkeep of dyed hair, I am lazy! ;)
I love Sally's!! They have great shampoos and other fun stuff. I've never dyed my hair though.
I've always colored my own hair (although I haven't in a while), and I definitely head to Sally's for all my supplies. I love love LOVE Sally's, and I probably spend too much money in there as it is. Right now, I love their Moroccan Oil line, nail supplies, Palladio...it's just fun to browse! :D I'll definitely check out Age Beautiful when I get the itch to color my hair again!

I can't DIY hair colors. My hands/fingers are not quick enough and I'm awfully clumsy.
I prefer a hardresser to do the job!

Can you believe it -- I have no hair dye in my house!
My Blog: http://rubysrigmarole.blogspot.com/
I love dying my own hair as it's a lot cheaper and I get the same results as a salon (unless I want highlights). I typically use Natural Instincts though because it's not nearly as harsh.

Even though I'm already getting some grey hairs I'm not one for coloring my hair, I'd like to keep it as natural as possible
I like to keep my hair natural. There's something strangely satisfying about having someone tell me I'm too pale to pull of black hair and that I should go back to my natural colour, only to point out to them that it IS my natural colour.
I just had to check back and say again, I LOVE this hair color! I tried the next lightest color in the blonde line "10N" and my hair turned out SOOOOO great! The color was exactly what I wanted! I have enviable blonde hair now! Salon looking results! This permanent liqui-cream just covers my nasty grey dull hair with glorious blonde color that lasts SO much longer than anything else I have used! I hope they never discontinue this color! My hat's off to Sally's and Zotos!
Jeanasina!http://jhasleftthebuilding.blogspot.com/
i'm in love w/this color as well... i got the right match this time FIRST time (after my debacle w/color last time)... really pleased w/the coverage on my "strays". i'm really glad i tried it. and the smell... it's fantastic that it doesnt smell so bad... i dyed today & dont havta worry about smelling up the studio at rehearsal tonite, or when the lil guy hugs me he's gonna get a faceful of chemical smell... they seriously kicked @ss on this color.
never tried this line but i do colour my hair sometimes with nonpermanent dye :)
i've seen this at sallys! i haven't dyed my hair for a while now just because my hair takes the damage very severely. they need to come out with non-chemical dyes readily available in drugstores!
http://skinniegenes.blogspot.com/
The one time I tried at-home color it turned ORANGE. So salon only for me...too chicken!
I've never dyed my hair because it's too much work for something that won't last. I've always wanted to dye my hair jet black, though.
