NEIL GEORGE'S INDIAN GOOSEBERRY TREATMENT! WE'RE GIVING AWAY A GOLDEN GOOSE!

Tue, 03/08/2011 - 10:41pm
  • Hump Day Hair
  • Hair

neilgeorgegooseberryMeg hair! Sweetassgal wrote a humdinger of a glowing review on Neil George Salon's Indian Gooseberry Treatment Oil where she says "is a flat out killer product!  I have lots of experience with different types of hair oils, treatments and serums and I know what works for curly hair as well as straight.  I've oddly enough been on both sides of that coin so I can comfortably work with either hair type and can attest to the attributes and hurdles of both.  This is a product that has them both covered brilliantly!"

I need to chime in here and say that I have thin, stick straight hair that is oily at the roots and suffers from dryness due to color treating. I use Neil George Indian Gooseberry Treatment Oil everyday when I get out of the shower. I use a dime sized amount and just run it through my ends. I works like you're giving a protein shake to your hair. My ends blow-dry smooth and even though I like to smooth things out with a flat-iron, no one is the wiser to any heat damage. The good thing about only having half a damaged head (forget about the brain damage-not counting it for this post.) Is this bottle is in my daily grab, it has been for weeks and I haven't made much of a dent in it!

I have distributed this golden gooseberry to many Meg Heads and from the initial opening where they go crazy "Oh, my gosh, wow! Does this smell absolutely amazing!" From the calls I get a few days later "I love that gooseberry oil, my hair looks so good!" This product is fast becoming a "holy grail" hair item. I'm not alone in my findings. All over the web woman are buzzing about this!

Sure they're are woman buzzing but what woman are actually frequenting the Neil George Salon? Oh wait, I've heard of them. Just your run of the mill Reese Witherspoon, Renee Zellweger, Julia Roberts, Michelle Pfeiffer and Kristen Durnst. Word on the street is that Courtney Cox runs in before all her red carpet events! Yawn. Those D-Listers!

I spoke to Neil George just this morning. I know, very fancy I am! He wanted to give away A Neil George Gooseberry Oil Treatment! Once you try it you're going to feel ready for your close-up! Just tell us why you need it and the best story that makes us laugh the most wins!

Buy It Here!

Why I need this product,  I am unemployed and my hair is starting to show it.  I have not been able to product junky and my naturally curly hair looks like I routinely insert my finger in the light socket and style my hair. The ends are frizzy and dry.  I ran out of my good stuff and are using some cheap drugstore stuff.   I am a hair don't and I used to be a hair do.  People used to stop and tell me how pretty my hair is.  Now people look at me then stare the look and or walk away.

Ugh! Nothing compares to my hair. It's such a god-awful mess. I've shared the stories about my hair before - how chunks of it melted off when I had my hair chemically straightened (yeah, that was a good look...) to trying to give myself blonde streaks and ending up with bright orange, to having people stare at my frizzy little halo at work. But I don't think anything was quite as embarrassing as people finding a few grey hairs. The yells of 'OH MY GOD! A GREY HAIR! OH MY GOD! LET ME PULL IT OUT' are something that'll haunt me forever. I also just love hearing the 'Ohhh it is quite grey isn't it, maybe you better dye the roots again'. And now to top it all off my hair is even more damaged from trying to cover up the grey.. Geez. I think it's pretty obvious I'm in desperate need of some help. :P

I woke up at 7am this morning...because both cats were "grooming" my head.So I'm sitting at the computer now in my footsie pjs (cow print), with one side of my hair flat as a pancake, the other side sticking in every direction it can, plus ones that don't even exist on this planet, and the back of my hair is so tangled I can't get my hand through it. Now, I know you're all thinking, yeah yeah, morning hair, plus that was the cats anyway - nooooooo, this is actually a tame version - the cats actually HELPED me! Usually, my whole head is tangled up beyond a brush, and deep conditioner only works out the tangles so much when you're having to wash it every day just to get it out of knots - and I don't have thick hair, I have hair that is already fine, coloured, dry and damaged (originating back to the weekend where I used 11 different box dyes to go blonde on the thurs, black on fri, blonde on sat and green - meant to be red - on sunday) so the daily wash is the very LAST thing I want to do! I also have a bit growing back at the min, where I decided to do a fancy blow dry and wound the brush up to my scalp, got stuck, panicked, and not wanting to go through to my partner and look stupid (?!?!?!?!) grabbed the NAIL SCISSORS and started to chop. I have no grey, but that could be because I've been dying it for so long and its such a mishmash of shades, that I've forgotten what my natural colour is!You don't *have* to gift moi with the really really needed miracle treatment oil, but given that my only other "treatment" at the moment is cat spit (bless them!), I think I should at least get into the shortlist!

Pretty is as pretty does - so get your sashay on!

I will have to check this out Meg. I love hair stuff, but now I am on the curly girl method I don't touch certain silicones, and sadly alot of oils esp the argan ones, have dimethicone in them.. meaning they don't wash out with conditioner. I will have to check the ingredients on this one to see.

The countryside. To be exact, a house in the middle of nowhere, in the end of a very dry winter, outside of which lorries and cars swish by all day through. Ideal place to grow your hair long? Well, I wouldn't be able to say, but out of necessity it does grow and grow and grow since the closest "salon" is run by the sheep farmer. A sheep farmer who cannot see the difference between fleece and hair. Not that I really blame him, considering how hayish my hair is at the moment, but I'm not one for having a sheep/cheap buzz cut. No thank you. I'd rather grow it long, and suffer the consequences that is dry, tangled ends that just begs to be hidden underneath sweaters and scarves, or deep inside a bun. No long, flowing, silky hair for spring and summer in sight. *sigh*

Oh gosh, this is fabulous. I need this product because my hair is getting old!! I'm only 45... yes people, I said ONLY... but I'm already going through those hormonal changes that most women don't go through until they are at least 50... including hot flashes and the drying/dulling/thinning of my once luxurious mane! I thought getting it cut short would help, but it only served to highlight the problem. So now I am letting it grow and it needs all the TLC I can give it.

hmm sounds interesting.  I've been using all manner of oils on my hair lately - lavender, argan, broccoli seed oil (which actually smells like cooked broccoli, thank goodness i have some essential oils around to put in with it).  I never though someone like me with fine hair and an oily scalp could use oil in my hair but it really does work.

This sounds amazing!! I have weird hair-- it is hair that you would love to have if you don't but once it is on your head you relize how much work and effort it entails.. think thick dark cruly/wavy hair.. it responds well though with a LOT of tlc.. I remember once when I was about 10 in an effort to have "pretty" managable straight hair (like the shampoo comercials).. there was a bottle with no label in the bathroom when we were visiting my granny in the summer which I put a generous potrion of in my hair.. thinking it was shampoo.. when my hair dried it was a little oily but it was like the "wet look" before it was popular.. my mom and granny inquired what it was exactly I used - it turned out to be a generous amount of baby oil!!

I have incredibly curly, dry, frizzy hair.  This sounds like just the product I need!  I have tried everything to help my frizz and now that I am a mommy, my hair seems even frizzier.  Help!!!  All of my friends have straight, silky hair that I truly envy.  None of them get my fear of humidity.  They're all about riding in the car with the windows down, and when we get to wherever we are going, they get out and flip their silky hair all around while I can hardly get my hands around my massive, brillo pad fro.  I always end up pulling my hair back in a ponytail.  I would LOVE to try this product!!!!

Why I need this one? I will tell you! I need this because I like oils on my hair. I like to cover all my hair with jojoba oil or apricot oil whatever, go to bed and wash my head in the morning. The hair becomes simply gorgeous. So, one day I want to do the same with this awesome new product, wake up in the morning, find out that there is no water in the house, go to work, and all day long pretend that I have the most stylish "I-did-not-wash-my-hair-for-twenty-days"  pony-tail and tell everybody that it is not my hair that smells so wonderfully it's my new perfume :-)

I've heard so much about the goodness of oils for your hair.  I started off with emu oil, then coconut oil then argan oil.  I'm an oily mess right about now. But that won't stop me from using every and all types of oil just to get nice looking healthy hair.  Don't be surprised if I slather myself in Crisco oil!

I don't have a funny story but I did want to say that I do like using different oils on my hair to make it look healthy and shiny, I have very curly hair and its on the "dry" side.  The oils do capture different lights and give my hair a healthy sheen...I just have to be careful not to over-do-it

I totally need this product for my daughter's hair. She is Bi-racial with super tight curls, and I have spent mega bucks trying to find the best products for her hair! You name it, I have tried it with varying degrees of success! Everything from drugstore brands to Ouidad! I forgot to mention that she is obsessed with straight hair at the moment so I have been using the instyler on her hair, which BTW in case you are wondering is FABULOUS!

Man! I just realized you wanted to laugh! Ok... Kind of funny story to go with my daughters current obsession with straight hair. As I mentioned, she is bi-racial, and she is 6 years old. It is a terrible time combing her hair out which usually ends in screaming and tears from both of us (yes pulled out it comes almost to her butt, when released it looks like it is just past her shoulders). During one recent stint she started to wail how she hates her hair and wants it straightened ALL the time. I told her no that she needs to love her hair the way that it is, and that there are people who would pay a lot of money to have hair like hers. Of course, her response was "Mommy if that's true, how come you dye your hair red and straighten it?" Guess she got me there! I so straighten my hair quite often, and had to stop for a while to show her that I loved my curls too!

This product looks so nice!  I would love to try this because I have been growing my hair out since high school and I'm 26 now, and it seems to grow so slow.  I've struggled with it for years!  It's finally getting to a length I love, about halfway down my back, and I really want to take great care of it and keep it soft and healthy!  Funny story?  Here goes: When I was a freshman in high school I used a bleach-blonding kit to make my already honey blonde hair '1-2 shades lighter'.  I guess I left it on too long, because when I rinsed it out my hair was bright banana yellow!  You can imagination the mortification of a 15-year old girl with bright yellow hair.  My Mom wouldn't let me stay home from school the next day, so I boldly went hoping no one would notice... unfortunately that was not the case.  Everyone started laughing hysterically as soon as I walked into class and I spent my freshman year of high school being called banana head (my high school was tiny - I graduated with 150 people... so everyone knew!).  In my prom photos that year I am a hair don't - dark roots and bright yellow hair in a fancy updo!  Anyway I dyed it back to my natural color when it was safe to and have only done highlights once and a semi-permament brown once.  Scarred for life!

Smoothly blown dried ends.  You mean it doesn't look like you have a handle-bar mustache when you are done because the hair at the side of your face is flying up and away?  Or that you go through a bottle of hairspray a week to get those damn ends to stop sticking to the wall after the blow out?  Or that you can't possibly restyle said hot mess because the hair spray has settled in like the in-laws?

Absolutely love the smell of this! Have tried just a sample from my hairdresser - no funny stories to share though. With my thick, coarse, straight, graying hair - this doesn't have quite enough oomph to defrizz my hair. Or maybe I'm not using enough & am just to chicken to try more as I never have time to rewash in the a.m. if I overdo it with products!! Congrats to the lucky one who gets to try this out.

hmmmm i need this product because i am a 22 year old poor college student! i got a perm over a year ago, and it was absolutely beautiful. i got compliments of how my curls were gorgeous, etc.. i guess that's why i hadn't cut it in over a year...and my hair was LONG- like waist long! but i knew i should becuase i found split ends very high up in my hair- by my jawline i would say.. that is TERRIBLE, and even though me and my friend had finals the very next morning, we stayed up til 5am and i let my friend cut my hair! We dont have cars, so i wasn't able to get to a salon, and my friend scared me to death when she told me that if i ddn't cut my hair and let my split ends keep splitting, i'd go bald! so when she offered to cut my hair, even though i was VERY hesitant since she warned me she had never done it before, i let her..any how, my hair was up to my shoulders, healthier than it has ever been, and i have donated my +1 feet of hair (they actually wanted it!) but that did not last long! 2 months later (NOW) i am starting to get split ends again and my ends are vERY DRY and frizzy and this time i dont have much hair to cut anymore!

I've been trying to grow my hair out to the bottom of my shoulder blades for a while now, but the air is so dry where we live and the water is so harsh and full of chemicals, I keep having to trim it more than I want to even though I'm going every 4-5 weeks because the ends are so dry and nasty.  I'd love to grow to be able to grow it out again a little more.

y'know... I didnt realize this needed a "story" to go along w/my post... (and i posted this under age beautiful hair color review)... but i JUST colored my hair w/age beautiful... and having read ALL of their reviews... thought going ONE shade lighter than I wanted was what I should do (all the online reviews including jeanasinas said the color pulls dark)... well 1/2 hour later & the color didnt pull dark on ME... my roots were lighter than the rest of my hair... yeah HI... attractive.  At least the "strays" were covered... so of course I didnt buy THE color I actually wanted my hair to be (because of all the online reviews) and I had to wait till the next day for Sally's to open... there I was when they turned that key w/my LIGHT ROOTS.  I redid at 1/2 the time... and LOVE the outcome... but really... anyone who needs to dye their hair two days in a row... needs a lil gooseberry ;)

I haven't had a haircut since last summer.  I live in a foreign impoverished country.  It's hot, but you don't get sunburned  because the pollution is so bad.  I'm constantly breathing in exhaust from cars and taxis that belch out blue smoke like a chain smoker.  The dust never ends; dusting is a joke.  There are nasty things in the gutters of the street, so I've just stopped looking.  Life here is hard.  I do my best to care for my body, my skin, especially my face.  But, confession: my hair has been neglected.  Help!

I've been trying a number of different hair products recently, to try and get my curls back in shape. I've never been fond of straightening my hair, far too much effort, and while it might look nice for a little while, it always transforms intp the most ludacris white girl fro. I'm not talking the stunning and dignified kinks of a glowing African American woman, I'm talking finger in a light switch. It'd be nice to try a product like this. I'd always thought of it as being for girls with straight hair, but I see from the product description that it helps give shine and define curls. Sounds exactly like what I need in my life right now.
