NYX COSMETICS! BLOTTING PAPER!
Stacy B here! I still think that the old saying "you learn something new every day" is so important to everyday life. It's relevant to just about every human on the planet and when you really think about it, you all follow this well-known mantra. There's not a day that goes by where I don't learn something new, even if it's not intentional. My husband and I are in the process of buying our first house. We owned a condo, but not a house so the buying process is a bit different. Yesterday we had our home inspection. That's something I've never done before and I learned a ton about stuff I didn't ever need to know about, like how a forced hot water heater works, or what an ice dam is, or why a deck should be bolted to a house, and not just nailed. Fun stuff, right? Not really. But, useful information. Not everything you learn is fun, but a good majority of it is knowledge you will be happy you know someday.
Here's what I learned today. I learned what pulpe paper is. I know, you're thinking "here she goes again, more useless, boring facts. What's next? A list of math equations?" Don't worry, this is a good one! Pulpe paper what makes up these amazing face blotter sheets from NYX Cosmetics. The paper (really, it's pulp paper but half of the NYX stuff is in French and puple sounds so much more glamorous than PULP) is a dry fiborous material that is made by separating fibers from wood. I can be formed into sheets and when doused in water, actually become more pliable.
Why is this important? Because these blotting papers are amazing! And by becoming more pliable as it gets wet, the sheet won't rip or crease while you are trying to blot your face.
I got a package of 50 sheets just in time for the last two weeks of a really humid New England summer. I tried one out the other day and loved it. I was rushing from one job to another (I have two jobs, that's another story!) and needed a quick freshening session but traffic was bad so I was running late. I pulled a thin sheet from my little credit-card sized pack and blotted my face. I've used blotting papers in the past and always felt like it sucked in TOO much oil. Like all of a sudden my face was totally dry and felt like someone was pulling on my skin. Not this time! The sheet absorbed just the right amount of oil. And since it's made of pulpe, it didn't rip or wrinkle and seemed to absorb more as I used it.
I looked refreshed, my skin still had a healthy glow with a more matte finish and I still felt like I could move my face without it cracking. The best part is, no one seemed to know I was rushing around in air as thick as water in 90 degree heat. I think I'd use this as a blanket on certain summer days if they made these sheets big enough!
How do you ladies keep the shine at bay? What blotting papers do you love? Who else is a fan of NYX!

Oooh I've been looking for new blotting sheets, I tried these ones from Taiwan or Japanese and they are just not working out for me.
I got confused bc the title says nyc but the pic is nyx lol. I have tried nyx blotting sheets and they r pretty awesome.
I love NYX Jumbo eye pencils. Love love love. they are fantastic, everyone should have a stash on hand!
I love the NYX eyeshadows and Megashine lipglosses (I don't mind the cherry smell, they're so pigmented!). I love blotting sheets but I buy mine from Muji. It's an organic Japanese shop and they smell a pack of 100 sheets for 3 euros (around 4 dollars). I always buy them in bulks and get weird looks in public transport whenever using them, but hey, I have to kill the oilies!
Aren't home inspections fun? Especially when they tell you all the things that need replacing!I've never tried blotting papers, never needed them. BUT, if I do, I will def. go out and try these.
Congrats on house buying! I use blotting powder instead of papers, together with a powder puff. The result lasts for longer than just blotting papers. Though, for next summer, I might pick these up for extra blotting power. :) Right now I've just started a Mac pressed blot powder in light.
Haven't tried NYX yet, but this product seems like a perfect way to start. So inexpensive. I have to admit that I usually turn to Dr. Feel Good for the oilies, but blotting papers give you the satisfaction of knowing that the oil is off your face and for just a moment you have held off Mother Nature.
Never tried blotting paper but I'm always game for trying new things!!!

I havent used a blotting paper in awhile, but this makes worth for a try!
My face gets so oily, it takes several sheets to blot it. I love them, but have never tried the NYC brand. They are so much better than reapplying powder over oily skin, which then makes everything look cakey.
i like the blue blotting papers from johnson & johnson. I seldom use it now but it is one of my goto blotter if I need to blot.
i can't live without blotting papers but i use the ones from the body shop

Oh I've always wanted to try blotting papers. I never used to need them but after having my kids, my skin changed and now it's a lot oilier than before. Thanks for the great review and good luck with the house!
My favorites are the Mark blotting papers. They don't smear or remove my makeup like some of the others I had tried from the drugstore in the past.SIDE NOTE: As far as house buying goes, my husband and I just bought a house a couple months ago, and having an inspection was hands down the best thing we could have done prior to buying a house. We too were surprised at the things we learned and were shocked that we'd get a 40 pg report of all of the problems with a house that looked amazing from the outside. Things you never think of..gross stuff too like evidence that "vermin" had found ways into the crawl space and attic!! After seeing that it would be over $12,000 to fix all of the problems, we walked away FAST. I would HIGHLY recommend doing an inspection if you buy any real estate, even if it is new construction - you will likely save yourself sooo much grief and money down the road! :)
Thanks for posting this, I've not run out of blotting papers yet...but I will soon, I'm glad to know there is something else out there that I can use for a much cheaper price!!
i haven't tried any blotting papers yet but i have tried nyx lip gloss and i like it a lot
I have extremely oily skin so I always have to have blotting sheets with me. This is going to sound strange, maybe even disgusting but I use toilet seat cover sheets (you know, the ones in public restrooms). They work just as well and maybe even better than other blotting sheets available at stores, and they are free!
Congrats on the house! I love blotting papers, I always have some with me, I currently use Everyday Minerals because I have so many from a purchase a looooong time ago. I also like E.L.F blotting papers. I will definitely have to pick some NYX up next time I'm in Ulta. Thanks for the review!!
I haven't used blotting sheets in a while. I guess it's because I haven't found ones that I really, really love. Maybe I'll try these out since you had such good results with them!
I like the Boscia green tea ones, they work really well and are so portable
lover of beauty, sharer of opinions http://prettylightsbeauty.blogspot.com/
I too like ELF---great value. And Boscia has some terrific blotting papers.
i LOVE the ELF blotting paper too... i love blotting paper in general
who loves makeup? me me ME!
I've tried blotting paper once, and it was pretty cool to see how oily my face was. Although i wasn't too excited about how oily it was. I was always worried that if i use it too much, my face will become even more oily because my face needs to replenish the oil that was absorbed? :O
I have never tried blotting papers but my skin is so dry that I really do not need.

I love NYX! I do carry around blotting papers for my oily T-zone, but I always forget to use them.
I use clean & clear's and EDM's blotting papers, but prefer clean & clear. It does a good job at soaking up the oils.
I love my NYX, but I haven't tried these. My $1 ELF Blotting Papers work amazingly! For that price, I don't plan on trying anything else.
I haven't used any in a while. I think I'll pick some up next time I am at Ulta to have on hand. My face usually isn't oily, but we have moved into a pretty humid area from a dry one and now, I am oily again :( Thanks for the recommendation!!

this sounds amazing!! iam a waitress and its soo hot in the kitchen.. and nobody likes a sweaty person messing with there food!!
I love the idea of blotting paper and have some at home. But I always forget to use them...I really need to too since my face is always oily! This review has been a reminder!
I've never tried blotting papers.
have not tried the NYX brand yet! i have tried clean and clear, great stuff, but i heard it contains mineral oil + it's on the pricey side so i switched to ELF shine erasers :)

omg! You MUST try NYX! It's one of my favorite brands, especially their eyeshadows. I must have upwards of 40 of them now!
I love my Sephora blotting papers. I haven't tried the NYX brand yet. I can't find the brand in my CVS - is it regional?
These are my best friend on a hot summer day! :)
Just got these. Great to have in this weather.
Blotting sheets - those things I buy and forget to use in favor of paper towels and toilet sheet covers?

I have pretty dry skin and live in a dry climate but I have tried the MAC blotting papers and they were my best friend for a while until I zapped all the moisture out of my skin from indoor tanning :(
I go from alligator skin to super shiny. Depending on... Well, I dont know! It just happens. Im always on the look out for good blotting papers. My best way to go though is use a power foundation during shiny periods, and liquid during dry.
I too use the Clean and Clear blotting papers. I've tried a few and these little blue guys are my fav
These aren't the kinds that have a plastic film texture are they? Those are kind of weird. I would much rather use the paper kinds! At least you could then compost it :P like the ELF blotting sheets, which appear to have leaves infused into them (green tea leaves?). It seems a lot more natural and "green"!
Luckily I have naturally dry skin so I don't really have a use for blotting sheets. I do carry them around though (I use ones from Clean & Clear) because occasionally (and I mean like twice a year) I forget to take off my makeup before I workout or its incredibly hot out.
I live in Pennsylvania. Not really a humid state. I have never used blotting sheets. I don't really think I would have a use for them.
I would never pay more than $5 for a pack of blotting paper... its too ridiculous to waste money these days... I use mark. cheat sheet blotting paper... its $5 and you get 50 sheets! Talk about savings!!!

Oh and I want to add... the mark. cheat sheets shine blotting papers are MADE IN JAPAN... really high quality for the $5 price!!!

I have been using blotting powder for years to combat my oily t zone. I live in a really hot and humid climate so blotting paper might be worth a try! : )

I use blotting papers everyday (use 2-3 sheets on a daily basis so you can tell I'm a oil slick...). I've been using the Gatsby (a Japanese brand for men maybe?! but I just find the blotting sheets work best for me!) I've never tried the NYX one even though I'm a NYX fanatic <3
I use the body shop blotting paper and I love it :)
I think we are going trough a blotting paper fever hehe...Thats is good and very much better than using a normal tissue to fight the oil...

I use blotting papers every day because there is some kind of oil well under my face. Seriously, I have to blot every couple hours (that's with m/u primer). I love blooting papers because they are awesome for my oily face but I wish they came in bigger sizes. I use at least 3 sheets every time I blot my face.
