some great tips! i've never tried putting lip liner on last before, i think it makes sense though, you can fix the bits and pieces. Hmm my lip tip is to always scrub your lips before applying anything. especially for ppl with dry lips like me. so your lips won't be cracking for flaking.. i'm surprised by how soft my lips are after i scrub off all the yucky flakey skin!

hahaha "clown?" those are some great tips!! i have never used lip liner before but when i do i will remember this video for sure! the nude colour also looks amazingly natural! go for the nude!
http://skinniegenes.blogspot.com/
My lip tip? I "clean up" my fingers after applying sunscreen, moisturizer, eye cream, etc, by applying the remainder on my lips!
I use a lip balm with spf during the day and a lip treatment at night after removing all traces of lipstick on my lips. keep my lips in good condition :)
But what happens if you are using a nude lipliner (to match all your colours) and the lipstick is bright red? Isn't that going to be a little silly?? I can get how it would work on lighter lipstick colours. I don't have any good lip tips - I probably leave my lips bare quite a bit!! Oopsie.
A nude lipstick can go with anything because it seamlessly blends in with any lipcolor and fills in any gaps and helps the lips getting defined when the color is gone! So many tips I've learned from putting something on the lips :1) apply concealer or foundation as a base for the lips. When you have super-duper pigmented lips and you just want your lipstick to show through as is it, then apply powder to fix the concealer or foundation.2) I apply a generous amount of lipbalm at night, it moisturizes my lips during my sleep, but it's also a good prep for further scrubbing as the lips will be moist and smooth in the morning3) I learnt that trick from reading Carmindy's 5 minute face book. If you want your bright lipstick to stay put and not have these ugly rings around the corners of your lips by the end of the day, apply a lipstain before applying a lip product. You lips will already have a colored base to which the lipstick can stick to, and you're sure will have that gorgeous bitten lip by the end of the day4) Don't have a nude lipstick but want to create one? Use concealer to blot your lips and add on top a coral or pink or peach shade of lipstick and gloss, pat your lips with your finger to lock the color5) For longer lasting lipstick, apply your lipstick, blot, powder, another layer of lipstick, blot, done!6) Scrub your lips with brown sugar and nourish them with shea butter, an organic lipbalm7) You can also scrub your lips with a toothbrush! Works wonders!I gotta try this brand! Meg, for my next package, send me some Napoleon Perdis (impossible to find it here in Belgium and shipping costs are ridiculous), that guy is such an expert and I'm in love with the colors!
ive never put on my lip liner last I dont have lip tip ideas sorry
I did not know that lip liner should go on last...My lip-tip is a very common simple tip, keep those babys moisturized and use a lip moisturizer/balm that has an SPF factor.
oh cool!! i will try that - i wonder what he thinks of lining the lips to make them look bigger? i have such teeny lips but am scared to look fake you know? im going to try his tip right now!
who loves makeup? me me ME!
I try lining a teeny-tiny bit outside my upper lip, but you've got to be very careful! You don't want to look like Erica Kane with a super-fake lip line!
When it comes to makeup I am still learning all the tricks. I do use mascara now and then (my mom has the most gorgeous natural lashes, so she still does not know how to use mascara, can you believe it!!) On my lips I usually just have moisturizer (Burt's Bees if my fav) So I am definitely soaking up all knowledge here. And you just have to like Napoleon Perdis! It is easy to tell that he really loves what he does a knows a whole LOT.
I've never been able to master the lip liner, maybe thats because I put it on first. I will definitely put it on last now, thanks guys!!
I have never used lip liner, because so many women do it badly I never wanted to look that terrible! I'm not really sure I need it, but maybe I will look for a similar colour in a less expensive brand to try out and see if I like the effect. I really like these videos with Napoleon Perdis! Keep em coming!
great tips
I usually don't wear lip liner. I have yet to master the technique and not end up with a squiggly lip line. My lip tips include: 1) A little waxy balm and some coarse sugar scrub off any flakes for cheap. 2) A little loose powder can turn any lipstick into a matte lipstick. 3) When applying gloss, don't smush your lips together. This removes some of the sheen. Aaaand 4) If you're making out with a guy, he probably doesn't care if your lipstick is perfect. So let go. ;)
I totally agree with the "don't smush your lips together" tip himekosorano! It kills me when women do this as it only messes up what you've applied because your lips are NOT the same top and bottom...I always line afterwards and yes,you can and should use a "nude" shade even with red lipstick...unless you truly want to run the risk of the "ring of death" left behind after the color starts to wear off :)I believe in lipliner and after a certain point believe 99% of women will benefit from using it as your lis DO lose pigment as you age...Napolean has got it right for sure and this new shade sounds wonderful!
My tip for keeping you lips looking gorgeous is to keep well hydrated and drink plenty of water through out the day if you're thirsty then you're already dehydrated, if you don't drink enough water your lips will be dry and cracked !!
Great vid! The best way to have beautiful lips is to keep them moistured!

ive never tried lip liner!! That sounds like a great thing to try.. I have a couple lip tips here they are 1]]To keep your teeth clear of lip stick. First open your mouth in to an extreme "O" shape. Then wrap a tissue on your finger and insert the finger in to your mouth and slowly circle your finger all around your mouth. This will get rid of any extra lip color out there. and 2]]If you apply a little bit of lip gloss in the middle of your top lip, that would give you a sexy and pouty mouth.
Great video!! I don't use lip liner but this looks like something I should try when it comes out. Love Napoloen!!

I SO agree about the darker lipliner. It looks SO bad when the lipstick wears off. I've read in multiple places that your liner really should be just your regular lip color, or slightly darker. Personally, I skip liner, since I don't really load on the makeup anyway.

WOW, I feel like I've just been awakened.. I have never ever put my lip-liner on second. :0 I'll start doing it now, ASAP! Thanks so much Meg, and Napolean! I'm loving him more and more after watching these. "Clown, wrong wronggggg" LOL. :D

i never put lip liner before lipstick but its a great tip !
Diamond are Girl Best Friend !!!
great tips
My lipliner secret is to put a lip stain on first, over moisturized lips ~ let that dry completely, then put my neutral-toned lipliner on, shading the whole lip, too. After that, I put on my lipstick and then gloss ~ I find that the lip stain underneath helps hold it all on, and when it does wear off, the lip stain makes it look like I still have something on until I can re-apply my lipstick!! I have tried the lipliner after lipstick thing, but it just smears, so doesn't work for me!
Yes, this is what I do when I want the color to really last - except I don't use stain. Just liner all over, then lipstick, then a bit of gloss only in the center. Then do the finger-in-the-O-mouth trick to make sure nothing ends up on my teeth. :)
great advice!! haha napoleon is so funny!
Lip liner makes me look like a puppet! My tip for myself has been to just stick with glosses and lip stains. lol
Great advice - He cracked me up with his comments! :P My tip would be for making your lip colour LAST, the best way to do this is to apply your lipstick, blot, set with translucent powder (I'm talking the no colour powder here!), apply another layer of lipstick, blot and you're good to go! This is especially great for brides. :)
Those are definitely some great tips! I don't wear lipliner everyday but those tips will come in handy when I use it for special occasions! Especially when rocking the red lip :)
He's so bubbly :DI have a few tips here, first one: use a old teeth brush to gentle exfoliate the lips to remove dead skin and then apply a thick layer of lip balm to replenish the moist. second tip is: mix honey, sugar and vaseline, then apply it on the lips and stay for 5-10mins. Then again, apply a thick layer of lip balm.
Thanks for putting up tips as well as reviews -- it's amazing to have access to all of these things in one place!
great helpful vid
i've never put on my lip liner
haha i dont use lip liner either
those are some great tips :) thank you Napoleon Perdis
lovely article! i enjoyed reading it:)
Great tips lipliner that is darker than your lipstick make you look really gross
I have always been afraid to use lipliner because I don't want to look like one of those people, with the obvious line around their lips...yuck. I never thought of a nude lip liner...and it sounds awesome! As far as lip tips, I don't have much to say. Keep hydrated and wear lip balm/treatments to sleep. I also use my electric toothbrush (with a separate head) to slough off the dead skin on my lips. My lips always feel super soft after that.

I've heard that before, to line last, I have been doing that now for awhile, and the DARK liner...UGH who started that??? it's simply unsightly!!
Old habit do not die easy. I still line 1st. And my tip is to exfoliate your lips to get a smooth application.
top tips from a great make up artist!
hmmm...i might start trying lip liner last. i watch a lot of makeup videos on youtube and all the gurus i watch put it on b4 lipstick because if you have a layer of lip liner under your lipstick it provides lasting power. as for my own tip, if i find that i accidentally went to far out with the lip liner i apply a bit of concealer to help even out the messed up edge.

i have not tried lipliner ever, but i also am more of a fan of gloss and go for the more natural look I guess. Interesting video though! I loved the Perdis gloss so much I had to watch it :)

omg, this guy is hysterical. Can we see more videos like this please! Never knew it goes on last... duh makes so much sense. What a Beautiful color... I am in love!
So nice to see him saying to put liner on last, I've never really understood why woman put it on first, I've always found you get much better results if you use it last.
Great tips, although I don't wear lip liner. I'm a "more natural is better" kind of girl, and don't mess with that. I don't wear lipstick either, so I really have no use for it.

I didnt know but now i know what to do.
