TARTE! EMPHASEYES INNER RIM EYELINER PENCIL!
Y'all know I "know" a lot about products, right? Actually too much sometimes. Then why oh why do I almost start to hyperventilate when I set foot in say Sephora or Ulta? I am guessing it's because even Goddess Granny gets overwhelmed by all the choices! SO many products that I get all bedazzled and can't zero in but it does seem that lately, many items are simply the same old thing either with new packaging or one or two new colors added to the mix. Some of my favorite brands like Urban Decay, Benefit, and Lorac do of course continue to set the bar very high and are constantly rocking the market with fabulous new products so I usually head to those displays first...oh, and of course I hit the "Tarte" aisle asap because this brand never fails to delight me either!
We are already in love with Tarte's exceptional cheek and lip stains and their primers are to die for! but they have created a product that is SO fabulous and original, it's become my new Holy Grail item almost instantly! We all love that dark, sexy eye-look right? I know we've been chatting about all the fabulous color that is so "in for Spring" on our eyes and I know we're having fun rocking the rainbow look but sometimes and for me it's for date-night with my guy,I want that ridiculously sexy, maybe a tad sleezy bad-girl dark eye worn with a ton of beige lipgloss look that is such a classic, every siren sings it's song from time to time! Problem IS, it's also one of the toughest to pull off without turning into a hot-mess of black smears and running the risk of racoon-eyes but he genius's at Tarte have figured it out for us with their "EmphasEYES Inner Rim Eyeliner Pencil" and my date-night look will henceforth be a LOT easier to pull off! Before I could only achieve this perfection if I slept in my eye makeup-a huge no no.
You know the drill: smooth a primer on the eyelid, brush on a smoky grey shadow, (I am currently LOVING UD's new "Stardust" eyeshadow in "Void") blend it out well, line your eyes with pencil or liquid liner and set it with more shadow...wait...something's still missing and how DO those girls in the magazines get that totally-dark eye look that screams HOTNESS? They line the insides of their lids with this super-thin, incredibly pigmented pencil that is formulated to be used on the "water line" (that area under/above your lashes that is usually beige)and has been carefully tested by derma-docs to insure that no irritation or allergic reactions pop up to ruin your evening. You'll notice it looks different than most eye pencils too: very thin in the hand and the point is super-fine as well so the creamy long-wearing formula can be applied exactly where you want it with no smearing or smudging!
I have never seen the likes of this before and am addicted to my pencil which has no parabens or lauryl sulfates, no synthetic fragrance or petroleum, just a patented blend of ingredients and mineral pigments that when applied, leave you with THOSE eyes! It slides on effortlessly and it's a snap to use when you gently lift the upper line and draw on a line UNDER your upper ashes that makes them look 10 times thicker! I usually blink two or three times and then line the lower inside-lid to finish.
When you go to Tarte's site (link below) you can actually see the before and after effect of this pencil and you'll see a huge difference when it's used: I have tried every product known to women to try and get this look but my EmphasEYES pencil has finally made it so easy that I can be a bad ass with my eye makeup anytime I feel the urge now! This is one of THE best and most innovative/well thought out products I've used in a long time and I honestly don't think there's anything else like it on the market so thank you Tarte! I use it in black but there are several great colors to choose from.I do advise that you turn the pencil slightly so only a tiny bit of the point is showing to avoid breakage because it's a very thin point but you only need a swipe of the pencil to get the look you're after! The slimness of the pencil itself is very easy on the hand and makes the technique incredibly easy...
Tarte currently has a free shipping promo as well, enter TAXFREE to get the deal!
This might well be THE most innovative product I've used to change my look in a long time: what have you discovered that is SO unique that your look has also become more fabulous?

Wow, this sounds great Goddess Granny! I too love to pull out the 'screen siren' look of smokey eyes teamed with nude lips every now and then.. it's such a great classic! I am still using my Tarte cheek stain (using it several times a week in fact!) and LOVING IT SICK. I hope this eye liner is similarly fabulous and becomes another excellent staple in my vanity. : ]

I just got a similar product from Laura Geller (whose products I love). It is called I-Care waterproof eyeliner and the color is bone. I haven't used it yet because it came in yesterday and the look is a bit much for the gym and grocery store! I bought the TSV on QVC ASAP and this was included. I also have Benefit's Eye Bright which is an excellent product and I bet if I looked I have at least one other white/bone inside rim liner that does what the Tarte product does. Tarte's product does seem cutting edge in terms of ingredients, but I like that the LG product is waterproof for lining the inside rims. Excellent review as always.
hmmm, good question... I'd say I started using a white cream on my cheek bones as a highlighter and I think it's kind of unique thing to do and I feel like it makes a beauty difference.

I love tarte, especially their gorgeous eyeshadow and e/s palettes. My favorite product of late is LORAC's Aquaprime primer since it doesn't contain silicone or break my moody skin out. Keeps my foundation looking smooth. Love it.
I really want to try this out! I didn't understand what was so special about it, but reading this, now I really want it!
i really want to try it!.
This is just what I wanted to read!! I've been looking for the perfect pencil to do just this job!!Thanks goddess granny for a great review!
hmm i like tarte liners!!!
I would love to try this but my eye would totally disappear...i have small squinty eyes at the best of times...and when i line the bottom--it's a hot mess :)
I want to try this :D!!!!But I am absolutely handicapped at applying eyeliner to the inner rim...it's uncomfortable, makes my eyes water :(
Not to mention a bad idea if you were contacts and have sensitive eyes.

i love all the raves here on tarte cosmetics but i feel their line is a tad overpriced!! hope there will be some future deals on this line because i'd love to try their cheek and lip tints as well :)

Bobbi Brown has the most amazing eyeliner waterproof gel. It totally can be used in the upper and lower rims. Does not run or move.
i got this in my 250 point pack. i swatched it for a youtube video and was surprised at how much it did NOT budge on my hand after washing. different story when i wore it on my waterline the next day. i dont kno how long it lasted but i know after 12 hrs. it had clearly migrated. next time, i'll pay closer attention to how long it really lasts.

my favorite product is nars multiple. i love it in south beach for the easiest summer makeup ever. it's a bronzey/copper color, and you can dab it on your cheeks, eyes, and even lips for quick color and a nice glow. in the winter, copacabana (pearly white) is great for cheekbones, brow bones, etc. anywhere you want to highlight to play up your bone structure. i'll have to try this eyeliner. i've been a big fan of tarte for yrs., and their cheek stains last forever (both on my cheeks and in the tube). ooh for the beige lip gloss, i recommend nars chelsea girl; it's a potted lip laquer.
this would be perfect to make my eyes even bigger!
I would really love to try this product.
I love the bad girl luck but for some reason it never looks right on me. I think it might have to do with my firm hand. I always push too hard and get a thick line. This product sounds perfect considering it's a thin liner. I can't justify the price right now but I will snap it up as soon as there is a sale or my finances open up a bit. Thanks GG!
looks good !
amazing, i can't wait to give this a try! thanks
Lisa
This looks great!
Oh wow! I absolutely would love to get this! In either chocolate or plum! Definitely want to make my eyes stand out more lately. :D
i can't wait to try this! i loveee eyeliner and i bet this will be just as amazing as you described!
I would love to try this. I use a kohl power on my water line and it looks great, but I have to have plenty of time to apply it. I also have to apply it before the rest of my makeup, so that I can clean up the mess it makes by falling out all over my cheeks. I love the idea of a pencil. It seems so much easier and cleaner to apply. I only wonder how long it would really last. I used to use regular eyeliner pencils to line my water line and I was lucky if they lasted until I stepped out the door. I wish tarte was a little less expensive, so that I could give this a try.
I redeemed my beauty insider points for the Tarte set Sephora was offering a few months ago and this liner was in the set. I love it! The best thing about it it is how small it is. It makes it so easy to quickly line your waterline.
i got this from MEG and i loooove it! it does work nice since it is so slim and small a point. I kinda wish the pencil was a bit more creamy though for doing lash line too. but yeah i like it a lot.
who loves makeup? me me ME!
So neat! I'm glad you included the B+A link, too - I was going to ask =)
I know something to never admit on a website dedicated to girls who are make-up experts...BUT I NICOLE AM UNABLE TO USE EYELINER! not because of an allergy but because I just can't make it look right! i do practice sometimes and i dont think i will ever getr better! I am a sad sad girl:(
I can't do the dark eye, since my eyes just disappear behind my glasses if I do. Though, it does sound like a good thing for the upper lashline, and if they only made it in white it sounds perfect for the lower one too. :)
The pictures with the before and after are amazing. I love the effect that the eyeliner provides. Gorgeous :)
I'm a huge fan of Tarte line ... and i wanna try this eyeliner !!!I discovered a good aplication to put my blush on my cheek and i see a real difference !!!
Diamond are Girl Best Friend !!!
i really like the look of this eyeliner!!! i've developed a *thing* for automatic eyeliner since i tried an automatic lipliner... since i can never find my sharpener!!! creamy and longwear liner is a staple in every girl's collection!

Just checked it out in greater detail - second ingredient, I'm allergic to! My eyes are watering at the thought! I tried lining the waterline once - there was so much tearing up I could never go back. Plus, how do you remove it effectively without getting remover in your eyes?

this stuff looks great
i'm a BIG FAN of the dark & smokey eye... (havent found my hg beige lip yet tho)... i usually just use my kohl liner (i think it's loreal black coffee) on the upper inside... and when i blink it transfers nicely to the lower rim... BUT it's not the kind of thing that lasts very long... and i've noticed a LOT more migration of eye products these days... liner, doesnt last like it used to & shadow... unless i use a primer... it's gone a lot quicker than it used to last. Is that just a "growing up" thing? Now that i'm 28 (for like the 12th time)... i wonder how much more is going to start migrating.... siiigh.
sounds like a great eyeliner, i've never tried tarte before nor have i heard of it, but i do love my eyeliner
Oh poo the black is OOS. I need a new liner to do my rim with not does not make my eyes water all day and the liner is gone and my eyes are a red mess. UD does this, I hope this will be better when it comes back in stock to try. Thanks GG for the great tip of this liner.
I am a huge eyeliner fan and have always wondered whether it is actually safe to put eyeliner on the inner rim of the eye, so one that is actually marketed as an inner rim eyeliner sounds awesome! I really hope I can get it here in the UK!
Sound awesome!!! Thanks Goddess Granny!!!!! ♥
Gracie
I LOVE eyeliner! This sounds great! My favorite is the Icare by Laura Gellar!
I love to line my waterline, but getting the liner to stay put was a huge problem for me. After trying practically every pencil on the market, I finally discovered my Holy Grail waterline product, Guerlain Loose Kohl. Its packaging looks like a magical amulet, it comes in all kinds of spectacularly beautiful colors, and it wears like a steel belted radial! At first, it was a bit tricky to apply, but I've found that dabbing a bit on a Bobbi Brown gel liner brush, then applying it directly to my waterline works best.
thanks! i love free shipping.
Ooooo I love that smokey look and I love the look of that eyeliner !!! Thanks for the review !!
A pencile especially formulated for water lines? Now that's an innovation, as I love lining my inner rims with kohl! I think it's the perfect touch to complete any look (=

Free shipping <3I use Maybelline Great Lash mascara, the one in the pink bottle with the green cap. It's great! :D
That is really tempting, but more so for a regular liner than for the waterline. I recently posted on a make-up board that I'm hating eye liner pencils right now because I can't seem to get the line thin enough under my eyes. This looks like it would be perfect for that. However, I'm pretty cheap, so I don't know if I could bring myself to spend $18 on an eye liner.
the elf palette i recently got! (: it really helps me experiment with colors.
great, def gonna give this a try
There are some in the Sephora stores.
ohh i soo have to try this
