YOGI SKIN DETOX HERBAL TEA! DRINK YOUR WAY TO GREAT SKIN!

yogi skin detox teaHey ladies - it’s Jeanasina here with another riveting episode of Body Beautiful Wednesday! So here’s the deal… I am always investigating things and products and recently I was exploring the Yogi Tea website and I discovered that they have come out with a NEW tea called Skin DeTox Herbal Tea! Yogi teas in general cover a monumental selection of flavors and malady solutions to help you but this is the first time I have seen one of their tea that is supposed to help your skin! Are you excited? Well I am here to give you some of the facts I learned and I am hoping you’ll take these facts and with some help, find the tea for yourselves and see if it might just clear up any skin issues you lament about! That’s right people, it’s tea bag story time! Ok, so first, I have a tea bag story of my own for you.

When I was in high school I was a ‘dud’ big time. I was a total loner and my family was poor and I took the bus back and forth to my Catholic high school every day and pretty much kept to myself. Well one day on the city bus to school, a woman sat beside me and she gave me a pamphlet which was about “Jehovah Witnesses”. I smiled at the woman and tucked the pamphlet in the pocket of my uniform and went to school. I had ONE friend in high school who was also a loner so we got along and we both had the same whacked out sense of humor. Well that day,I was in my algebra class and I absolutely hated math. I remembered the little pamphlet in my pocket and took it out. I proceeded to cross out the word “God” in the pamphlet and substituted the words “Lonely Teabag” in “God’s place throughout the 4 page pamphlet. Well I thought it was hysterical to read it after I made the substitutions so I passed it to my ONE friend and she busted out laughing too because we were both odd ducks. At that moment THE TEACHER who was a nun, saw us and said… ”Jean, would you please come up to the front of the room with your paper?” I nearly died and brought the brochure to the teacher I had and of course she looked it over and made her usual severe face. She then said “Perhaps you’d like to read this out loud to the class!” I did of course, FLAME FACED, I read the entire thing (all four sides) with my teabag words and of course you could have heard a pin drop that day and not one person dared laugh.  MORTIFICATION was complete that day for me. I had to stay after school in detention of course. To this day tea bags remind me of that long ago story. I still have a bizarre sense of humor even after that embarrassing day which had again proved that I must be a freak of nature or something to think of the bizarre things that I do!

Anyway dear ladies, just read this write up from Yogi and see if you are not completely interested and intrigued…

“Our skin reflects our diet and lifestyle choices; it’s the mirror to internal health.  It’s just as essential to cleanse from the inside by reducing internal impurities. You can have clearer, glowing skin. Yogi Skin DeTox was formulated to support a healthy skin care regimen by shedding impurities. Fragrant rose petal and hibiscus used in Ayurveda to cool and sooth the skin, entice the senses with a fresh floral scent. Traditional liver cleansers burdock and yellow dock combined with ancient ‘blood cleansing’ red clover help purify the skin and organic green tea rejuvenates with an antioxidant boost.”

Check out the Yogi Tea Website and you can read the reviews for yourself of some of the people who have tried it, liked it and… felt it cleared up their skin! I thought that was pretty astonishing!  I haven’t been able to find the tea yet at the stores I usually shop at but you can go on the website and plug in your zip code and find out what stores in your area carry it. Of course you can order it from the website and I found it on Amazon.com where you can buy a six pack of the product!  The Yogi Tea website is such a lovely way to spend time! They have yoga poses to see, all kinds of advice on well-being, some great inspirational sayings to live life by as well as so much more, not to mention how interesting it is to read about ALL the teas they make!  One of my favorites inspirational saying on their website is “Let your heart guide you.” That is SO me and how I operate!

So ladies, my heart was telling me that maybe this is something that could help some of you! Check it out and please come back and share with us your thoughts and experiences with this new Skin Detox Tea. Also, if you have another favorite of the Yogi Teas please tell us all about it! I’m a fan of their regular DeTox tea myself.

Just so you know, as I wrote this, I had headphones strapped to my head and was listening to the Black Eyed Peas singing the song “Rock that Body” and you know how it starts out with “I wanna rock right now” and they sing that verse over and over again? Well I was thinking if they were to change the words to apply to skin issues it would be more like “I wanna clear skin now!” “I wanna, I wanna clear skin now!”  I’m just sayin’… maybe drinking the Yogi tea will have YOU singing your own new words to some song!  Talk to you again soon!

You can buy the Yogi Skin Detox herbal tea here!

Isn't it great when something that you like drinking happens to be good for you as well? Vodka, please forgive me for saying this.
What's your favorite detox ritual ladies?

Oh My Goodness, Jeanasina you CRACK ME UP. I am a recovering JW, LOL, most of my immediate family still are so this holds extra humor for me. I love tea, especially herb tea. I am excited to try this. I get colonics from time to time other then that I like philosophys micro delivery peel to decongest my skin, garnier detox wet towelettes too, then to top it off I try to drink lots of H2O and H2O w/ lemon. That helps detox the body. I am going into hysterics over your morphing the pamphlet, then to have your shrew nun make U read it. That is hysterically funny. I will try the tea. TY again for another awesome review that is informative, fun, and funny.

You get an awesome vote for making me giggle about the pamphlet after a less than stellar day, now I'm sporting a wide grin, thanks for that. I absolutely love tea, and have quite a collection of different teas. I've read a lot of debate over the validity of detox with claims about it being a con or scam by alternative medicine, but I have to say that just because something isn't specifically quantifiable through scientific specifics doesn't mean that people don't find value in it, or that it doesn't actually work. I don't really have a detox ritual, I have a pretty healthy lifestyle and eating habits. I eat a lot of fruit and veg plus whole foods, hardly anything processed, loads of water and healthy teas. I also do tai chi and meditate every day. So, I think I've kind of incorporated a lot of detox ideas into my daily life, if that at all makes sense. I have, however, undergone a kind of quick cleanse after taking medications in the past. I found that in a couple of instances even well after the medication should have been out of my system I was still feeling it's effects. In these situations I ate only fresh fruit and veg, raw nuts, gluten free breads and cold press organic hemp oil for a week. I also drank lots of water and herbal teas with manuka honey to sweeten. Be it that this was physical or psychological, I did feel much better afterwards, much more like myself, very refreshed.

I did check out the website and it can be found at my local Safeway.  Now the problem is I don't like hot tea!  My daughter does so I am going to pick up a box for her and she can weigh in.  Oh Jeanasina, you had me at Jehovah's Witness...............

This review was very intriguing!  Thanks for bringing this product to our attention.  I really think skin issues need to be dealt with by changing something we take in to our bodies, not with topical solutions.  It just makes more sense.  I have been struggling recently with breakouts and I'm going to give this a try.  Thanks!

I absolutely believe that our skin reflects what we feed it. I don't have any "detox" methods, but I do drink tea a few times a week, usually green tea, and I would love to try this skin detox one. I'll keep it in mind next time I need to stock up again.

I completely agree with indi and rubysbeauty. I think it's very much a case of you get out what you put in. I've often had people make unpleasant remarks about how while I have extremely oily skin I don't have pimple issues, why I don't have dark circles even though I have chronic insomnia, or why I don't have wrinkles when I'm a smoker. I think that good genetics can only take a person so far, and that it's far more likely that healthy eating/drinking for the vast majority of the past decade and a half is the reason. I think just reading up on dietary estrogens and how they can effect people is enough to prove that what we eat is more than just a case of fats and oils, so to speak.

Honestly, I've seen dietitians across the board who favor western philosophies, eastern philosophies or a little of both, and I've studied a but of Ayurvedic medicine on my own.  The one thing they all have in common is treating your body with respect.

I don't buy into detoxing at all. From a scientific standpoint we have kidneys and liver that do this "detox" work for us.  Our bodies are extremely well built and equipped to deal with "cleaning" themselves.  Some people just refuse to understand this very fundamental truth.  Those are the same people who have somewhat obsessive behaviors-- feel the need to latch on to a fad or go overboard are always going to have that outlook--good for them, but it doesn't mean they're any healthier. In fact they're messing up their metabolism and depriving their bodies of nutrients.  Even if it's just a week it can have lasting results.  When I say this I'm think of a friend who went on a tea with ginger and maple syrup "detox" for a week.

That being said, I love the Yogi brand Ginger tea and I drink green tea somewhat regularly.

I am a huge fan of Yogi teas and of course of our Jeanasina who never fails to delight me :)I've tried their respitory-aids and they really do make a congested chest lighter...every one I had tried is excellent an I can't wait ot give this one a whirl! I do believe that our skin is very important and along with hot baths and lots of TLC,think this tea would be a nice way to give it a bit of a treat! Fabulous review my dear "Lonely Teabag": I can't imagine you EVER being lonely, you're far too special!

Hmm...detox, how about the red wine, margarita and jager bomb from last night?? I swear I almost puked this morning....hmm maybe tequila + jag + wine is not such a good combo?? who knew? Anyway, I love a good cup of tea. I've tried Yogi tea before, I think it was an echnicea (sp?) kind it was pretty good. Maybe If I drink this instead of all that booze my skin will be clearer? I will look into this, I love tea! And your story was very funny (at least I thought so!!)

I've tried several of the Yogi Teas, but not the detox formula.  Sitting here with a massive zit on my chin, I think I may need a detox.  I love tea!  Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf make my favorite.  Aveda's tea is also pretty awesome.  It has licorice in it which is good for good for stomach problems.

This sounds incredible, I have never tried any kind of detox before and would definitely love to! I have extremely oily acne-prone skin, so something like this may be just what I need to deep cleanse from the inside. The fact that it is an herbal tea is even better; I am a Teavana addict!

I drink a lot of tea, sadly Ceylon Tea with honey and milk. I'm bad that way. Though I did have a cup of yogi tea once...unlike many other brands it is drinkable without anything sweet added to it or milk so I'll give this a try if I can find it here in Sweden. As for detox...the closest I come is when I try to stop eating fast food and sugary things.

All i could think of when reading this was "WOW!" I like drinking tea so with an added benefit of helping out skin is like 2-for-1 deal. I have never heard of any teas that help out with skin issues so this is super interesting. I don't have many facial issues, but I do suffer from a bit of body acne so I wonder if it would help with that. Thanks for sharing this product with us!

It was a really lovely write-up about Skin Detox. It you haven’t already, check out our new program called Well Wishes (www.yogiproducts.com/wellwishes). I think their regular kidney detox tea is very effective, but it tastes practically rancid. I have never tasted something so horrible. I prefer Mighty Leaf tea. All of them look and taste so fresh and delish. When I first tried their teas I felt like I had never really tasted tea the way it was supposed to be untill that moment- and I have been an avid tea lover since childhood. Their detox tea is really energizing immediately and very tasty (zingy I guess I would say) but the African Amber is my fav. Sweet without having to use anything sweet in it, and the smell should be a perfume!

Jeanasina, I have no idea why you substitued "Lonely Teabag" but it is hysterical.  It could have been worse--if you mentioned sex you would not be with us now!  We need to compare bruises.  This was hysterical.  I truly believe that we are what we eat.  Note the lovely skin on most British--they choose tea over coffee.  My mom, who had no wrinkles in her eighties, switched to tea and glowed!  Loved this piece, sweetie!

After reading your review, I'm both excited and sad at the same time. Excited, because I love the idea of something that works on my skin from the inside out. Sad, because your high school experience made me sad! No so much the nun calling you to the front of the class, because that happened to me ALL the time, but that you only had one friend. Well, I'm sure now you have lots and lots of friends, so I guess I shouldn't feel too bad. I'm going to buy this tea at Amazon, and give it a try. The only thing I worry about is that because it's good for me, it will probably taste awful. But I'm up for giving it a try.

I so wish i liked tea...I just can't do it ;*(I will say that growing up we used to use a tea (i forget name but i purchase it from the health food store locally) and we would open it and put it into a bowl of water over the stove and steam our face....It was a miracle worker!  I still do it occasionally and it always helps my face out so i have no problem believing that it would work from the inside out as wellgood luck everyone and please sip some for me :)

This sounds too good to be true...so it probably tastes gross. Okay, maybe I just think it will taste gross because I hate tea. I guess that's too bad for me because I will do almost anything to clear my skin (with the exception of putting my pee on my face...which I read was a great way to clear the skin...YUCK!)! I will be ordering this from amazon.

I absolutely detest this detox fad.  The body does such a great job of dispelling any negative traces within the body through sweat, urine and faeces that there is absolutely no need to "detox"!  Of course eating and drinking the wrong things affects your body in different ways.  Pimples, dull skin, dull eyes, lack lustre complexion, sluggish feeling, etc etc - the list goes on, but "detoxing" cannot and will not help any of these symptoms.  Any good results from drinking only lemon water and lettuce or whatever you're doing are purely due to the placebo effect.  Of course eating well and making the right healthy choices helps your body to be the best it can be, but I'm sorry to tell you that binge drinking for two months can't be reversed with a pot of tea.  : \
