SWEETASSGAL'S BEST OF 2009!
Sweetassgal here paying homage to Meg's list of what made her look Gala-licious by giving you my own top list of 2009 reviewed Green Chi products that really kept their place in my heart (and in my overcrowded bathroom) for the past tumultuous but still pretty terrific year. Each is my fave to bring you the best we've sniffed out, rubbed on, washed off, and dabbled here and there all in the name of beauty...and of course you FAB Meghead’s who make it all worth while.
Prive Concept Vert Rejuvenating Shampoo and Conditioner - I made no secret of my love for both of these INCREDIBLE and earth friendly products. Nearly a month later and my hair is still shiny, healthy, bouncy...and YES there is more of it! My hair fall in the shower is noticeably diminished. What a rejuvenating concept that is!
Lush Coalface Soap - I credit my near flawless skin this year with my Lush Coalface soap. I use it ONLY at night (too harsh for daytime use in which I still put my beloved Juara Rice Cleanser at the TOP of the list!) when I'm feeling especially oily and gunky. It leaves me clean, smooth, not overly dry and I swear it attacks upcoming pimples before they get a chance to rear their ugly little heads.
Organic Apoteke Detox Mask - Should a pimple get past my Lush and Juara regime I know I can always turn to this cool and soothing mask to shrivel those ugly little pimple monsters almost over night. Just a dab on an upcoming offender, sleep over night and I wake up to an either greatly reduced or practically GONE zit. It's the Houdini of pimple care...now you see it...now you don't!
Eminence Organics Rose Hip Whip Moisturizer - Quoting Carrie from SATC when she see's her perfect shoes in the storefront..."Hello lover!" I am 100% in love with this whipped heaven in a jar Organic moisturizer. The texture, the scent, the perfect balance of moisture, the illuminating results almost make me have a different kind of "O" every time I visit it. I have tried some truly incredible moisturizers this year which are all worthy of praise but I always come back to my one true love. Like having a little fling with sassy pair of Betsy Johnson platforms but always knowing you’ll come home to your Louboutin’s! BTW...have you SEEN the Louboutin Barbie? ME LIKEY! Leave it to me to be envious of a dolls shoe wardrobe!
Kumaara Luminescent Primer - This baby is primer perfection for me! Primes my skin beautifully, doesn't settle into fine lines, lasts for hours and gives me a lovely "glow" that I can't get anywhere else. Highlighters and bronzers are a no-no for my oily and red complexion (they just make it look worse) but NOT SO with the Kumaara. I look matte, elegant and ready to hit the red carpet should anyone see fit to take me to the Golden Globes!
EOS Lip Balm - The afore dubbed "Lippies for Lazies!" fabulousness of the EOS lip balm had me at first sight. The tingle I crave, incredible moisturizing and way better than average staying power have me still loving this odd little orb. So much so that I tend to keep it in my bra for immediate and instant application gratification. This keeps it a deliciously soft and balmy 98.6 degrees but poses two small problems. #1...Sweetassguy tends to go digging for it which FREAKS out my daughter and #2...it kind of gives me an odd "third nipple" look if I don't bury it deep enough! hehe...TMI!
Josie Maran Plumping Lip Gloss - This is the first thing that ever made me think I could pull off nude lips and I'm riding that as long as I can! First off the flavor is just too yummy, the color is GORGEOUS on anyone and the sparkle and shine without being sticky is too, too brilliant for words. Though it's not "Green Chi" I have to give a nod to the equally cerebral Cat's Cosmetics Buck Naked Lip Liner. Ladies...if you buy NO OTHER lip liner this year make this the one! It's the perfect partner to almost any shade and its universal beauty is matched only by Cat herself!
Sweet Spot Mist and Wipettes - I'm almost fanatical about girlie grooming and so these babies are always within reach. I recommend the wipettes for first morning and throughout the day freshness. The spray is perfect for the "after shower/bath" and before you jump into bed time of day. Sends you off to dreamland fresh as a daisy and ready for any night time shenanigans you may find yourself in!
I must say that though this has been a tough year for the economy, for the job market, and especially for our dear Meg...I for one am completely appreciative of the bevy of beautiful products I've been able to try and for the friendships I've formed through this wonderfully women inspiring site. I don't know what I would do without you all sometimes. Happy New Years and here's to an even more Gaga-licious 2010! GLAM ON!!!!!
Do any of you have the same items on your must-have lists?

They are all new to me :) I'd really love to try the Kumaara Luminescent Primer. I have oily skin which makes my make up melts very quickly...I want to look matte too!

I haven't heard of any of these but they sound great. Would def. like to try the primer. I am experimenting to find the best products for my acne prone skin so right now I dont really have any must haves. I do use baking soda straight out of the box for my teeth though and it makes them super white so I love that stuff. Hopefully I will soon find makeup & skin care that is a must have!!!
they are all new to me!! BUTTT thank you so much for bring them to my attention! I cant believe 2009 is over how aweful!! ill just be getting older!! hahaha
Wonderful list! Gee - I should do one of those, as well. So should everybody else - I'd love to see what people found to be the best beauty products of 2009!
unfortunately i only own the eos lip balm but would love to try a few other items on your list esp Organic Apoteke Detox Mask. This sounds like just what i need esp this morning when i woke up with a tiny pimple just under my nostril (boy does it hurt) and just in my eyebrow...another sore one.thanks for your picks...they sound awesome
I love you and your potential "third nipple",LOL!!! You'd have to spend a bit of time with the Darlin' SAG to really get her incredible wit and self-depreciating humor, this girl is a hot mess,HAHAHA! GREAT review of some AMAZING products,I love it! I'm absolutely with you on the Prive shamp/cond...my hair has never been so shiny and smooth and I love this line! The Josie Maran gloss and Cat liner are in HEAVY daily-rotation for me,they are my " go to " when I am pressed for time and need a pop of reliable color...both are fabulous! And anything from Sweet Spot makes any girl's day nicer! I think you've made an excellent list and cannot wait to see what's to come in 2010! Wishing you and yours the BEST of it all in the New Year and hoping all the special Megettes here have the most beautiful and memorable year possible as well! HUGS! Let 2010 be "the year" you do something out of your comfort zone!!!
Amen mjsred, Happy Happy New Year, Hugs, and Cheers!! Doing something out of the "comfort zone" is now on my 2010 New Years Resolution!
Wonderful list better than mine
Great list! I havent had a chance to try any of these products yet but I'm really hankering for the detox mask! Bring on 2010!!!
great list but unfortunately i didnt get to try any of these items. i am also on organic kick lately and here are some products i am loving:Mychelle Dermaceuticals Vit C Serum- cleared my complexion from acne and left it glowingLeonor Greyl Huile de Palme- miracle oil for my hairMelvita Argan Oil- i put it on all over my body- mixed with body lotion and after serum on my face- results are amazing!
The nude Josie Maran Plumping Lip Gloss and the wipettes by Sweetspot sound awesome. I haven't tried either, sadly.
My products of 2009 are Ren Guarande Salt Exfoliating Balm, Caudalie Lip Conditioner and Pop Beauty Smokey Eye Palette.
I'd really like to try the EOS lip balm (every one here gives it such great reviews and I want to find out what the different flavors are like) I would also like to try the Cat Cosmetics Buck naked Lip Liner I've never tried their line yet and it looks fantastic (this product looks really functional!)
I have all three flavors of the EOS lip balm and I keep them all over the house. Those things are great and last forever! Def worth the rediculously low price of $3.49 or 2 for $6 at the local Walgreens
lover of beauty, sharer of opinions http://prettylightsbeauty.blogspot.com/
they are all new to me. but i would like to try the Organic Apoteke Detox Mask because my skin is so blotchy and all.
The stand-out winner of 2009 for me is the Kumaara Luminescent Primer. Fantastico! And the 2009 winner on he non-product front is getting to know so many of you better, albeit electronically. Happy happy New Year to all!
I don't do the exact items but I do like some apoteke items and I LOVE SWEET SPOT FEM WASH.
Seriously, Sweetassgal, you made me laugh OUT LOUD with your comment about keeping your EOS lip balm in your bra, and Sweetassguy digging around for it! I personally didn't care much for the EOS balm, or the Kumaara primer (silicones make me super oily). Some of my loves of 2009:--Shiseido SPF55++ lotion: this keeps my oily face looking matte, AND it has a high SPF! Totally awesome.--MAC lipglass and fluidlines. I hadn't even tried MAC until this year! Now I'm on a mission to own it all ;)--Stila smudgepots: great as liner, great as cream shadow. I love every color I own (half a dozen or so).
♥ Lipgloss and Spandex: a blog for gals who look good and run fast
Hum...primer with SPF...you've got my attention girlie!
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
Hmm . . . those are some great products. Among my favorites are the Organic Apoteke Detox Mask. It is nothing less than miraculous at keeping pores clean. The Prive shampoo and conditioner are highly prized. Once I finally learned that less is more, my tresses were treated with love from these two. Last but never least is the EOS lip balm. I do play with it like a child and keep applying until there are layers on my mouth. But the smell is intoxicating and the results are Heavenly. My husband put it in my Christmas stocking--that speaks volumes!
That's a great list! I love the EOS lip balms as well. They're both cute and moisturizing!Other than that I've been more into natural skincare lately, so I'll probably look into some Lush products.
I'm totally with you on the Prive Shampoo and Conditioner and the Coalface! I LOVE them both and use them quite regularly. If we had the EOS balm here in Australia you can bet your bottom dollar that I'd be out there in less than a second buying it. Fingers crossed it turns up one day at our one and only Costco (which in itself doesn't have much buying power as there is only one....Hm).
oooh great list, makes me want to go out and buy stuff !!!esp the shampoo and coalface...in fact i think i will. :)
who loves makeup? me me ME!
I haven't tried any of these products but I did fall in love with a new lip plumper this year. Soap & Glory's Sexy Mother Pucker XL Extreme-Plump. This doesn't burn at all, it tingles, kind of like when your foot falls asleep. And it really works, it doesn't come in colors but it absorbs quickly so its great and a plumping base to colors.
Love and Lipgloss,
Kathryn

i'm trying to hunt down the lush coalface soap and the organic detox mask, this is a wonderful list i'm definitely adding few to my shopping list.
I love reading about people's favorite products. I haven't tried any of the products on your list, but I am intending to get Coalface next time I visit Lush.

I believe the only product on your list that I've tried so far is the EOS lip balm, and I must confess that I like Burt's Bees better. I just made a Lush purchase with the after-holiday discounts, but I was unable to pick up the coalface soap. I'll have to check it out sometime.
I'm totally in agreement with a lot of those products. I have Kumaara's concealer compliments of the fabulous Meg and I love it so much! It's now one of my staple products. I'm sure that the primer is just as amazing. I really like Eos lip balm. It's cute, quirky, and works well, although I don't stuff it in my bra...It would probably get lost :P Anyway, I seriously, seriously need to get my hands on Lush's Coal face soap. My face is so broken out right now and I've heard wonders about this product. On my list of things to try is also the Sweet Spot wipes. They sound great.
The lush and sweet spot items, plus a ton more.I can't wait for a fresh new face and foot forward in 2010.HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Let's all enjoy the Summer sunshine!
Most of these products are new to me. But, I have tried the Sweet Spot (thanks to you and your super funny story about slipping on the wet stairs. right? Well, anyway, that story was a hoot and I ordered some citrus scented spray that evening) Thanks for the positive reviews for all the products you listed here in this post, I'll will certainly be sure to check these out. Great!
Yeah Victoria1...I'll probably be traumatizing my grandchildren one day telling them how Granny fell naked into a giant tree pot! NICE!
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
I haven't tried any of those but the best product of 2009 for me was the Pure & True Intensive C rejuvenatingSerum that Meg sent me I absolutely love it and I will continue to buy it when I run out :-)
I've used the pink EOS and the Organic Apoteke Detox mask. I really like them both. EOS is about the only thing that works when my lips are super dry and almost cracked yet it's not too waxy. Organic Apoteke... wow. I used it after a Juice Beauty Peel to refine my skin and my pores were empty and tiny and I was glowing. I definitely love it and I'm pretty certain I'll repurchase. I want to try Lush Coalface in 2010. I am going to have fantastic skin this year, oh yes I am.
Haven't tried any of those, but thanks for this review. Happy New Year.
Wow, I have a lot of those items on my wishlist including: Prive Concept Vert Rejuvenating Shampoo and Conditioner, Lush Coalface Soap, Organic Apoteke Detox Mask, and Kumaara Luminescent Primer. And I wouldn't mind getting the other things on your list.

I'd love to try anything from Josie Maran. I've heard so many good things about her makeup.
My number one product discovery of 2009 is not one your list, but I did get it from redeeming my points here. It's "Mixed Chicks" leave-in conditioner, I am on my 3rd bottle now, and I just can't let my hair go curly without it!
Ohhh Erica I'm envious! I've never had the pleasure of trying that yet. Sounds like a must try for this curly girl!
Love, hugs and shoes...Angie
i love lush coal face. im really considering buying the rice cleanser tho..
I am envious of Barbie's shoe closet too now! I don't have any of those on my must-have's list, but you bet I have a few of those items including a lot more goodies from Lush on my wish list
I am in love with Christian Louboutin and can't get enough of his new styles. I statrted using the Luch Coalface after you reviewed it and now I don't know how I ever lived without it. I also bought the Dark Angels, which is Coalface with some added moisturizers, which I have found to be awesome during these dry winter months. New Year's Resolution: check out the other items on your top best because you've never let me down in your reviews sweetassgal!!
Style may be on the surface, but you can be deep and still have some - Clarissa Gough
The EOS lipbalm is also on my list, but I haven't tried anything else on the list. Have all next year to do it though!!
The Detox Mask sounds fabulous, but it is sadly out of my budget. I'll have to drop an EOS lip balm or two into my basket the next time I am at Walgreens though. I am a lip balm junkie (it is the only lip product I use - no lipstick for this girl). :-)
Oh i'm gladyou mentioned the kumarra primer because I have been on a quest to find a primer that works for me and have almost exhausted all my options! Ive tried tons!!! But I almost forgot about the kumarra so I should see if I can get some of that! I can't believe its new years eve! My 2009 find of the year was the cosminology foundation! Thank you! I finally have a foundation I love to have on!
Tan is Love
I love New Years at Meg's! It's nice to know what products are long-term faves as well as immediate ones.
sweet list!:)
I've heard A LOT about that EOS lip balm. I might try it after I finish my Blistex. I've got to admit; the packaging is what drew me in.
I don't have any of these but I definitely want to try them! I also keep hearing a lot about the EOS lip balm, I hear it's great! The detox mask also sounds nice. Looks like I have some shopping to do!
Britt♥
I haven't tried any of those products, but the EOS lip balm is definitely on my to-do list!
