JEANASINA MADE A VIDEO JUST FOR YOU! TRY HER TIP BEFORE YOU GO CHUNKY!
Hello Ladies! Jeanasina here! I’m going to get some dark brown chunks of color in my hair tomorrow after seeing how cute it was on a stylist at the hair salon where I get my hair done. I recently had some subtle golden lowlights put in my light blonde hair and while I was there I kept staring at this stylist who had light blonde hair like mine with huge dark chunks of dark brown randomly scattered in her hair. I told my stylist “I LOVE that woman’s hair!” and she said, “Well, do you want to do that today?” but I didn’t have the courage (yet) to try it so I just went with my usual subtle lowlights.
I haven’t been able to stop thinking about that woman’s hair so I called the salon and I’m going back tomorrow to get solid dark chunks put in my hair here and there. But before I made my final decision to do it, I came up with a plan to see for a week how I would really LIKE my hair with the dark chunks.
So, I had an idea and I tried something kinda crazy but it worked to let me know if I am going to like it or not and I DO like it so hair appointment here I come!
Take a look at my little video and see exactly what I did. Hope this helps some of you who want to ‘try out’ hair foils before you actually go through with it and spend money to have them put in and then end up spending more money to have them taken out later because you hate the contrast after all!
I did this with dark brown hair in my blonde hair and of course you can do it too if you have dark hair and want blonde streaks/chunks or if you are redhead and want blonde and black chunks…you get the picture. This is a fun way to experiment and yes you spend a little but it’s better than spending a LOT later right!
Have fun with your hair ladies! Talk to you again soon!

Smart Girl Jeanasina-wish I had thought of this as once I had 2 huge chunks of blonde put at the front of my hair and didn't like it so the hairdresser had to dye brown over the chunks and then my own colour over again.PS:Looks great on you v debbie harry.

Nice to see your sweet-self! Great idea and I think we chatted about you doing something like this when we were in CA? You'll look fabulous!!!You have seen my "rainbow red" hair,I actually had fuschia chunky-streaks a year ago and might just go with platnium blonde in the red-mix next Spring!Take the leap....LOVE the room you're in BTW! Sending a huge hug!
OMG how creative :) I would love to try this with blonde or light redish-brown chunks! How cool...... I so wish I was more adventurous with my hair...
thanks for the great idea (:i think i just might try this one out...
Really fun idea, and I love all things crafty! I've never considered getting chunks, but now I'm motivated! Thanks! =)
that's a good idea, i've only ever had my hair (whole head) dyed once... the ammonia was way too strong. but i loved the outcome, i always tried photoshopping and seeing what colour would look good on my head, but it wasn't very realistic, i'll keep this in mind for next time :)

This is a great idea. Thanks for the video!
Oh....My.....God.....Jeanasina, now I miss you even more! I love the chunks and you look freakin' fantastic in this video. Such a clever idea, very inventive! What a treat for all the Meg Heads, a fabulous beauty trick and a chance to get to know you even better! (I think I remember you mentioning something about decorating a blue room, and it looks so great! It really turned out just like you described it to me.) Harley man is gonna love him some Jeansina with her new sexy hair! Love you girl!
I can't wait to see the chunks result! Loved your video, and I think that the brown chunks look great on you. And what a clever and creative way to try it out. But what really amazed me was how gorgeous your skin is. I am so envious... but still love ya anyway!

At the beginning of the video I thought the dark chunks were your real hair and they looked wonderful on you so this is a great idea and please post a picture when you came out of the hair salon.

What a great idea, I'd never thought about doing that.

Great idea. In high school I had chunks of light blonde in my dark blonde hair. Immediately after I got it done, I was freaking out, because they were so bright, but after a couple washes, when things calmed down, i was so in love with that look. Always got lots of compliments too.
Great job Jeanasina. I love clever ideas like this. As we all know, nothing takes longer to grow out than a bad hair job. I like that you can tell where you want the color instead of surprising yourself when the colorist does it. This allows you two to work together. By the way, love the blue and white room. I have never dared to go dark, but I think you swayed me there.
Great idea and I loved the video thanks x
Wow I love the dramatic lowlights, they really look great on you!
Brilliant idea, Jeansina! I've always been a little impulsive when it comes to my hair, so I probably won't use the idea myself, but some of my friends who are less adventurous could really use this info! Thank you, gorgeous :)

That is a great idea! Very ingenious. I am the biggest scaredy cat when it comes to the hairdresser. I pretty much had the same haircut for 10 years because I was afraid to change it. I would find something I liked, then chicken out at the last minute. I changed it up this year but not by much. When I do get it coloured (maybe once a year) I go to the same lady my mom does. I really trust her so pretty much let her do whatever she feels like to my hair.
what a great idea ! thanks for the video n article
your so creative! I loved your video!

Wow Jeanasina you are stunning - and I love the shade of your walls. :D Great video and even greater idea! I'm super impressed and will definitely store this one in my beauty arsenal!

Fantastic idea Jeanasina! I've been tossing around the idea of getting my virgin hair colored or maybe highlighted for a while now but I was always afraid of what it would look like. Now you have presented a way of testing it out without committing. When I get some time after finals, I am so going to get one of those little cheapie hair pieces and do this to check it out!
This is brilliant! I'm a big scaredy cat when it comes to having my hair colored and experimenting with it. So this is a real harmless way of figuring out what looks good and what doesn't. Now I'm off to find hair!
what a great idea, i'll try this next time i get streaks at the salon, this would save me a lot of money!
great idea!!! even if you were never planning on getting your hair dyed at the salon but you like to change your hair up alot-this would be an option! jeanasina you are so cute-I dont know which product it is (or a combination of all the lovely things you get from meg) but your skin is amazing-glowing-gorgeous!!

I love the video, and that's a great idea! I'm all about change without comittment! In a million years I would never have thought of this, and never imagined it would work so well and look so good. It's a great edgy look for you, you look fantastic!
Love the video jeanasina, So creative and I am excited to see how it turns out!

thanks for the great idea. I'd been thinking of dyeing my hair in a mixed shade of dark brown and pink but haven't got the guts to do it.
oh thats so fun and helpfull i think i'm tried with some blonde or red hair, its better than buying the cheap extensions that are very thin
What a fantastic idea! You look awsome with the chunks. Thanks for making such a cool video.
What a smart idea! I totally never would have thought about that, but it definitely makes sense to test drive a drastic new look, especially if you're nervous. I love your hair with the brown low lights. You'll have to post a pic whenever you get it done. Also, I absolutely love the room you're in. The color of the paint is gorgeous!
What a wonderful idea!I hate changing he color of my hair because you never know how you will feel about it laer. This is a great way to find out if you want a big change or not. I like this idea because you could use it for a special occasion...maybe a big date...just to change things up.

Excellent idea . . . Keep the good ideas coming.
Hi beautiful readers of the Megville Gazette!!
I want to thank you ALL for your lovely comments to me and your enthusiasm about my hair 'practice' strands idea! Yay! You really made me smile at your reactions! For all of you who wanted to see the final results I made a little follow-up video so you can see it first hand! I had the pretend dark strands in my hair when I got to the salon that day and my stylist said “Oh! You already put dark chunks in your hair!?!!!” and I smiled and said “Nope – YOU are going to do this today!” and then I showed her my little fake inserts. She laughed and told me I should market that idea. That won't be happening but it really helped us see eye to eye on what I want done!
I am positively thrilled with my new dark hair strands which hopefully you will see in my follow up video (see link below)! I was delighted so many of you liked our 'blue' room! My husband picked out the color and we both love how it turned out. Right now though the room is filled with overflow furniture etc. because we are remodeling the basement and all the stuff normally down there is completely filling all of our other rooms so it's pretty cluttered in the blue room! I was worried you would all see all the 'stuff' and think we are hoarders! LOL!
To all of you who commented on my skin – I'm totally placing kisses on everyone of your foreheads! Made my day! Well take a look and see if you approve of my 'real' new auburn shade of color chunk streaks! Again, my heartfelt thanks for your enthusiasm over my idea! You guys always make my day a happier one! I really enjoy reading your feedback on everything!
Floating hugs should be arriving around your shoulders the entire time you are reading this! :)
Jeanasina (P.S. Please disregard the abundance of times I use the word 'always' I was pretty excited! LOL!Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcnupoUZI4w

Diamond are Girl Best Friend !!!
good idea. I tend to be very impulsive at the salon and have had some interesting results. I figure no matter what I have done it can be fixed or will grow out. I have occaisonally pushed the boundries though, because I have a fairly professional job.
I admire you for being brave! I think you'd look awesome with darker hair all around. Maybe just a darker blonde. I seen how nice the brunette looked on your face and it fit with your complextion nicely.
