FEKKAI GLOSSING CREAM - HUMP DAY HAIR DAYS!
I am pleased to introduce Krista, a women that has been searching for the perfect hair product longer then the search for the holy grail! Enjoy! Happy Hump Day! Love, Meg
Hey, ladies, and Happy Hump Day! Here’s to the first installment of Hump Days for Hair! While I usually celebrate the halfway-mark-to-the-weekend with a post-work martini, or 2, or 6 (in all honesty, I’ll still be doing that), it’ll also be my day for reflection. Hair, hair, hair! Most of us will never look like a girl in a shampoo ad. But all of us will try... and usually fail. We even have a term for it: Bad Hair Day.
Some have a face that could launch a thousand ships; Bette Davis had eyes that inspired; others have bought their way into the cleavage Hall of Fame. But what do we all, every one of us, have in common? Bad hair days.
We’ll spend millions on miracle face creams that never make good on their word. We’ll search high and low for a lip plumper that really, uh, plumps, knowing full well there is no such thing. Foundations, powders, and bronzers all promise flawless, glowing, healthy skin, but is there really one that delivers on all 3 fronts? I’ll give anything a whirl, but I’ve been around the block too many times to fall for gimmicks, false claims, and phony promises.
But hair? Just slap SUCKAH on my face when I’m guaranteed lustrous, glossy, luxurious locks. (Take my wallet!) Velvet-soft hold for a fly-away-free-finish! (No, really, here are the keys to my car!) A miracle for your mane for the sleekest sheen you’ll ever experience! (My firstborn is yours!)
It’s not me (right?), it’s not my hair (it can change!), it’s just that I don’t have the right products!!! They will save me. They will change my life. I’m not asking for much. Not perfect hair. Not even great hair. Just no more bad hair days. Lead me there and I will follow and I will be yours for life.
So let’s start with a product that delivers. Now a cult favorite, Fekkai Glossing Cream is a “sheer styling cream with pure olive oil that eliminates frizz and adds moisture and shine to all hair types” that “hydrates, sleeks, and shines”.
This brings to mind a scene from Sex & the City. We all have our favorite episodes, lines and characters. (Which girl are you? Me? - a little bit of Miranda and a lot of Samantha. Mix 2 parts practicality with 3 helpings of loose morals, and voila!) But here’s a line that I’ll never get out of my head because it was so... baffling.
...cut to Carrie and Charlotte walking down a Soho street. Convo topic: Charlotte’s oh-so-effortless teacher’s-pet perfection:
Charlotte to Carrie: “Is my hair too shiny?”
Hold on. Wait. What? “Is my hair too shiny”? Overly shiny hair is a problem people suffer from? If one suffered from it, would it really be a problem?
I have curly hair. I can spend an hour with a dryer and flat iron trying to convince it that is not, but it is. My hair is never flat. It can be straight-er. But it is, in the end, curly. And what is curly hair not? Shiny. Curly hair is not shiny. Ask any professional, read any book. That’s just the way it is.
Until I found Fekkai. I’ve tried every polish, serum, and spray on the market. And one unforgettable morning, Glossing Cream entered my life. Slathered on pre-dry, then post-iron, I saw something funny in the mirror. It took me a while to figure out what it was. There, glinting like tiny particles of glass, the picture of unseen-before brilliance, my de-frizzed and silken locks. Could it really be?
Is my hair too shiny?
Ladies, please post if you love this product !

love, love LOVE Fekkai! The glossing cream is fabulous and the shampoos and conditioners are amazing too. I've got 3 different kinds in my shower right now, shea butter, glossing and baby blonde. This line just does not wrong. Great post Krista! Welcome to the MM family!
WHOA - they sell it at TARGET chichi? You are making that up!

I purchased the travel size at Sephora and absolutely freaking love it! I've heard so many good things and it's all true. I have oily hair with a light wave that frizzes in humid weather. I was worried about it making my hair greasy but a small amount works really well. My waves are nicely smooth, not at all like a frizz head. Many thanks to those that reviewed it. I love you guys! I've yet to be dissapointed in any products you've highly reccomended.
Love love love love love this stuff. Apparently, neither Meg nor I should be entrusted with valuables when around products that purportedly deliver shiny lustrous strands. Because while I balk at the audacity of even a $15 shampoo, I happily shell out (...money, promises, impossible favours, etc.) for this glossing creme. Since I'm such a huge dork, I once put a different shine serum on each half of my hair, and then made my roommate guess (twice!) which one had the more expensive stuff on. She couldn't guess right, so I made her take a picture of it, so I could see for myself. She is a very patient roommate. But when I tried this creme on in Sephora, she was all, "Woah. No blind/photo shine-test needed here, your hair is like BLING." I bought a tube on the spot, and it goes everywhere with me. Especially good for airplanes, or after that gym shower when you just want to tie your hair up and go, but don't want a frizzy mess at the end of the day. Also good for winter static (toques, anyone?), or post-beach cocktails... you name it, it's there. Plus it smells good... kind of like Kenneth Cole Black. Use a tiny dab at the ends only, then use what's left on your palms and slide over the top of your hair. You really don't need a lot. LOVE IT!
I'm heartbroken-- I went to Target yesterday, in need of some Fekkai products. But to my utter disappointment, they didn't have it! I was so upset. Today, I went to the Target website to see if they carry it, and all signs point to the horrible and sad fact that they don't. So now, I'm just going to have to wait until I can trek up to Denver and have a shopping spree at Sephora. Sigh...
Oh lord, do I love Frederic Fekkai products! I use their one of their shampoos and conditioners everyday, recommend it to friends (ask Meg, I told her about the mirical of FF a number of times) and have purchased it as gifts so I could share the joy. As a matter of fact, since the inception of megsmakeup, this is one of the only products I still traipsed to Sephora to buy. So I have some amazing news - I received a call from Bunny last week. Guess what they sell at Target now? She yelled. What? Could it be? Two of my most favorite things in the world combining? It's true! I ran on down to good old Tar-jay and they have the whole line for sale! Woohoo! I bought the full volume shampoo and conditioner (my standard for the summer months) along with light bulbs and some closet organizing supplies (this summers project at home). Life is good!
Oh, also, WTF is *too* shiny? Pfft.
Yeah, FF Glossing Cream CAN get a little greasy if you're too heavy handed. In this case, less is more. Or at least, start out with less and you can always add more.

I have Fekkai Glossing Cream in my 'bin' of necessary hair products. I have problems with the ends of my hair always looking frizzed out, especially if I allow my wavy hair to dry naturally! On those days, I take out my Fekkai Glossing Cream and put a gentle sized dollop on my palms and then I rub them together and proceed to bend over and turn my head up side down which isn’t easy when you have a pinched nerve in your neck and I take all the ends of my hair between my palms and apply the gloss to just the ends which are easily reached since I’m upside down. Then I whip my head up - picture a hip hop dancer wildly gyrating her hair - only I do it in s-l-o-w motion! Once I get my now dislodged body back up in a standing position (takes much longer when your bones are brittle) I apply the remaining gloss to the rest of my hair for just enough shine! Then I leave the mirror bouncing my head up and down like a bobble head while I exclaim “Oh Yeah - I’m having a great hair day again today!”

Yeah, no wonder my shea butter conditioner disappeared so fast. Thanks alot, strawberryfields, you owe me some shea butter!I also swear by the glossing cream. its the best thing to use post-dry, pre-iron because the olive oil is a humecant so it keeps the moisture in and the heat damage OUT of your hair cutitcle. I also love the glossing shamp/condi and the technician and the shea butter. Yeah- I love it all! Frederic Fekkai is one sexy man!

I have been using this product ever since I went to Sephora and a sales rep from Fekkai pulled me aside, put this creme in my hair brushed it through and brought me to a mirror. I was so excited that my frizzy mane was now luxuriously smooth! I even bought the damn Fekkai brush she used on my hair! I'm such a sucker! But I have been hooked on these creme ever since! I usually buy the small size (it's cheaper) and a little goes a long way! I suggest giving it a try if you suffer from the frizzies!!!
I love Fekkai... Krista is true to her word when she says it makes hair smooth and shiny. I tried it this past spring (thanks to my darling roomie leaving it sitting around-hehehe) and it made my hair feel wonderfully soft. Sadly, I don't live with her anymore, so I'm going to have to make a trek to my nearest Sephora, an hour away, to get some for myself!
I am absolutely in love with this stuff. I have been using it for about 4 months - daily. I put a pea sized amount trough my hair before I blow dry it and then use another pea sized amount after it is dry to make super shiney. A little bit really does go a long way.
Thanks so much for this great post!!! I've always wanted a real frizz tamer...but i've tried so many and none of them have worked for me. I bought 3 different Paul Mitchell frizz products and no luck!!! My hair is mildly wavy...but tends to be super frizzy...especially now that the humid weather is coming. I've been watching this Fekkai glossing cream since it's been on sephoras top sellers list forever....I'm going to buy some ASAP!! Thanks Krista!!!!
I got a free sample of this from B&BW and I'm kind of digging it. I like to keep my hair simple, no straightening irons or lots of product for me. If I do blow-dry my hair, I use one of the curling iron/hairdryer combos in the smaller barrel and work with my natural waves. A side effect of that is that my hair looks a little blah. I used a little bit of this before hitting the dryer and I noticed that my hair looked shinier and more vibrant and it didn't weigh down my fine hair. I also like to take a tiny bit, rub it between my hands until it's warm, and trace the ends of my hair and it kind of hides any split ends that might be lurking.
Fekkai is my favorite hair product line. I religiously adhere to anything Fekkai! I've been using the glossing cream for a couple of yours, during my pre-yuko days and my post-yuko straight hair days. It makes my hair softer and shinier, and I always got compliments on the way my hair smells when I use the glossing cream. Just make sure you shake it up once in a while, or the oil separates from the cream. But, while I'm on a roll here, let me recommend their other products. You NEED to try their Shea butter hair products. The smoothing serum is wonderful too. But, the Shea butter moisturizing shampoo is my absolute favorite product. When I had curly hair, I use every product in their curl product line, and it worked well. I can go on and on.....but I'll just say that Fekkai products are the absolute best!
OMG!!!!!!! I can't LIVE without this product! I have been using it for 3 years nowand have converted 6 people (including my 78 year old mother, yes...my mommy)!!It's really one of the best products that has cult following...and with good reason.Nothing can touch it! Smooth hair, no frizz, no extra weight, can apply multiple times during the day....LOVE IT...USE IT...SWEAR BY IT!!!
They do sell FF at Target. I promise!! I haven't tried this glossing cream, but it sounds wonderful. One question, does it make your hair greasy? I have an oily scalp and sometimes when I use certain glossing creams they can be too much for my hair. I usually try to apply them to the ends, but it still seems like they leave me an oily mess by lunchtime. I love that shiny hair look, but don't want it to look like an oil field. What is your experience with this one?
sorry about my typos! For some reason, my computer is cutting off half of what I type so I can't proof read my posts. Hope you forgive me!
Fekkai glossing cream is an AWESOME product. I absolutely love it. I got a sample from Sephora. I loved it so much, I bought the big tube (um, it lasts forever, because you only need a small amount, so the small $9 tube should last you a year!) My grandma even commented on my hair, saying it was so shiny and healthy looking. This is not a product for the fine haired ladies though. But for my really thick hair, it works great.

I LOVE Fekkai Glossing Cream too. It tames my fly-aways/split ends and give my hair a sleeker shinier look. I use a pea-sized amount, because a little bit goes a LONG way! The first time I used this on my fine hair I used way too much and my hair looked like an oil slick. A small tube lasted me 6 months. I also like Fekkai's Salon Glaze shine rinse.
I love this stuff! It's one of only two "must-have" hair products that I own. I bought the travel size and am amazed at how long the stuff lasts!my store: http://stores.ebay.com/rubysbeauty

This is absolutely the best hair product ever invented. I have frizzy, dry, color-treated, naturally curly hair and Frederic Fekkai has solved all my problems. I can use just this stuff whether I'm going curly or straight and OMG my hair is gorgeous!!

I tried this because of all the posts I read on this site...some really convincing ones from Sweetassgal. So, not to be left behind I got myself over to Ulta and got the big tube. Oh my goodness it is so perfect. Really thank you so much for recommending this. I don't think I would have tried it otherwise. It isn't like other smoothers I have had, it isn't greasy or oily. It takes a lot more of this stuff to end up over using it (than those other smoothers) This is the very best hair smoother ever made. Very Highly Recommended. A+++++
this looks really nice!
I also have curly hair and love this stuff. It is the only thing keeping me from going completely silicone free. I use a pea size amount on towel dried hair and can either let it air dry for a loose wave or blow it dry straight. It does make second day hair a little heavy/greasy but nothing makes my hair as soft and shiny as this.
Love love love fekkai products, I use this when I make y hair straight and they are soft and shiny!

i have a problem with frizzy hair in the humidity, my sephora sales associate recommended this and it works wonders
Love this cream and love the smell!!
i got a sample of this haven't used it yet
This actually looks quite nice. Organic looking and fairly simple packaging, that's what I like.
this does make my hair super shiny, and not greasy, it does weight it down a little bit, but i need that or else i have a lioness mane.
looks good!
I found this to be a touch too heavy for me the one time I tried it, but it's entirely possible I used too much for my fine hair. I guess I'll give it another shot.
Want!
I suffer from dark thick curly hair myself (the hair that you want until you have it and find out how much work goes into it!) however this cream helps my hair behave whether I decide to go curly or straight it behaves.. two thumbs up!
My hair is super curly. I never thought of it as particularly shiny, but one day I was mentoring a high school girl and she asked if my hair was "natural." I thought she meant the curls, but she said, "It's so SHINY!" So I guess I am lucky. :)
although i really like the fekkai glossing shampoo and conditioner (so rich!), i don't really like this glossing cream. it's a bit too heavy for my hair. probably not meant for my particular hair type. mine is medium fine in texture, though i have a ton of it...the recipe for weigh-down. i'm sure it's a great product for those with a more thick or coarse texture to their hair..it does smell lovely and feels nice going on..just too much for me, sadly.

I *do* love this product! However, I've come to the realization that for my hair, less is more!
